I had a RIdgeline for years. 06 RTL 250,000 miles.
I put the lift on it and I went to a larger tire. It looked awesome, but it wears out the front CV axles much faster do to the angle of the drive shafts. I took it off after 10 years and many cv axles. I loved the independent suspension, the storage was amazing under seats and the trunk. Amazing in the snow. Best truck ever made for a mid sized truck.

I have a 2024 Ridgeline and about the auto-engine stop/start, I got into the habit of turning it off when I got in the car. I came from driving 3 stick shift cars in a row so pushing a button is nothing. Also, there is a 90$ device that takes about 20 minutes to install that shuts off that feature by default. Also, the feature turns on after you put it in park by default

-For the dead pedal, most vehicles have it like that..
-For the stop/start - I have a 2023 santa fe that has a button like yours to turn it off. I found the smallest zip tie I could find, cut most of it off and shoved the rest down beside the button. Hopefully that makes sense, so this keeps the button pressed down forever which turns the system off every time I start the vehicle and doesn't hurt anything. When/if I want the system on then I just remove the zip tie and nobody knows the difference. Cost a whole what.. 2 cents? See if this will work in your scenario.

I have a 24 BE Sonic Grey and its a good truck no doubt.. the engine, ride comfort , its quiet, interior space , awd system, dual action tail gate, in bed trunk all good things BUT at an MSRP of 48,200 for black edition sonic gray they really half ass it on some features/options.. i feel other trucks/suv execute these way better.. Adaptive cruise is not stop and go. it wont work below 25 mph. blind spot monitoring does not work below 20mph so you better be careful on your slow merges.. there are no front center parking sensors, they are only in the front corners so antyhing more centered it wont detect.. it wont detect a parking pole and in my case i have a tandem parking spot and it wont detect my other car when i pull up to it yes seriously.. the vented seats are too weak even on high feel like its barley working.. the vented seats in my grand cherokee work way better.. why no 360 or front cam option? also the only way to turn on reverse cam is the truck must be in reverse.. why no quick look view so i can quick check that all is good in my tow hitch setup .. why no hill descent control? its in a crv but not a ridgeline ,, why? and finally the bed is pretty shallow if you put a tonneau cover on you only have 16 inches of depth which is really restrictive in useability. hoping the next gen ridgeline has better execution on its options/features..

@@Bansheemyk2001 lol yeah im pointing out a bit of dislikes but i also said there are good things about it.. on paper the BE looks to offer a lot of features. my dislike is that these features dont work as well as some other cars. my example is blnd spot monitoring, thats a great feature to have and lot of cars today have it standard BUT why does Honda set it not work below 20mph? that seems high. my GC went as low as 6mph. some do it even at a stop it will tell you somthing is there.. ACC doesnt work below 25mph. its like why do they kinda half ass these features.. my GC and Forrester had ACC with stop and go.. price point wise they are in same ball park.. so its like yeah on paper you see all these features and you're like great its fully optioned but then after you realize wow they dont work as good as same features i had in my other cars.. i took it for granted that seeing a list of features and i was set but didnt realize after using everthing that its not as good as some other cars.. that being said i still like how the car drives, its nice and roomy. back seat veratility with the flip up seats. the inbed trunk. the dual action tailgate. the engine seems to pull nice and seems pretty quick when you step on it. awb works well..the suv like drive is better than other mid size for on road daily driving. i also got a good deal on a lease so factor eveything in its an overall good truck to get as long as you are not needing serious off road capability.

The front collision sensers function the same over different year model Ridgelines, Pilots and Passports as in a "false" activation even as the oncoming traffic is well in their lane. The push button gear selection has been in the Ridgeline since 2020. The rattle at the rear when the truck is running, all of them do that (my 2020 Ridgeline and 2019 Passport included). You NEED the halogen high beams because ice and snow WILL cover up the LEDS and may set the front sensors warning light.

Honest assessment, Joe. 2021 Ridgeline Black Edition owner here and I love my Honda truck. I agree that the collision warning sensor seems too sensitive. I use the USAA auto insurance App and that bugger dings me if I move my phone (handling) or brake harshly (to avoid a collision!). That App and the AARP safe driver online course have made me more cautious by watching my speed, preparing for stops and never taking/making a call while driving. As a result, my insurance premium went down 29% on my latest renewal. The lack of LED lighting is because you have the RTL trim instead of the Black Edition. Personally, I don't know why LEDs aren't on every trim. I agree the tailgate drops hard, but I typically use the swing out feature. The gear selector buttons...I'm used to them. Ventilated seats would be nice.

I think with most of the new cars, you need to disable the stop/start feature each time. The Subaru I recently bought, you have to disable it each time too. (although like you said, there are aftermarket kits you can buy to disable that feature.) For the issue re: location of your left foot, they would have to move the whole cabin back more, since I'm sure that is where the wheelwell is.

I've never had a vehicle with the stop/start feature. Tho my wife's car has it and she doesn't seem to mind it. I'm getting used to pressing the button every time I get in the truck.. but if it continues to annoy me.. I may just get the chip to disable it. The bump in the floor is slightly annoying.. but like I said, none of these issues are deal breakers for me.

I see allot of the Ridgelines here in Ottawa Ontario Canada and I really like the looks of the vehicle, I would go with a cap to accommodate things we bring to the cottage in the shallow bed. You indicated that allot of your 5 things were not deal breakers and I agree. I am not a fan sun roofs as I do keep my vehicles for long periods of time and this would be a leak issue down the road but over all a great review very informative thanks for this.

I’m not 100% certain, but I believe the base trim (sport) does not have a sunroof. But it also has cloth interior instead of leather. If you’re ok with that.. it’s still a pretty nice truck and it’s less expensive.

The ridgeline has always been an interesting vehicle. I like the naturally-aspirated engine and the PHYSICAL PARKING BRAKE! But I don't like a rubber timing belt I have to tear the engine apart and replace every ~100k. Also, I'm a runner so I would love to be able to stretch my left leg... dealbreaker, LOL. Try unplugging the wiring harness to the auto-stop, I heard on the Fords that disables it, worth a try for a $140 part?

I have the exact same truck! One thing you forgot to mention was the high beams. They are useless, and the stupid DRLs are integrated with the high beams. What's worse is the AUTO HIGH BEAMS! They are way too sensitive. I like having auto lights, but unfortunately, they come with the auto high beams that just switch on and off constantly. I actually disabled the DRL by pulling a fuse and leaving the headlights on permanently. I also got a much brighter LED high beam.
Another gripe is the odor coming from the preformed plastic trunk pan. It stinks so bad, I can't put any groceries in there. Or other items that I don't want to smell.
Other than that, I love the truck. I just wished I got the Black Edition.

I would've liked the BE too. Unfortunately for me, there was a stop sale order due to a recall at the time I needed to purchase. @@randomstuffwithjoe yep. Same scenario for me. My truck was built and shipped after the fix, so I was able to get it immediately. I probably could have waited because I had another vehicle to drive, but I'm too impatient, and couldn't wait a few weeks for others to come out. RE: the collision mitigation not working properly. A major reason of why I sold my 2022 RTL-E after a year was because of that and the radar cruise not working. The collision mitigation is scary bad in these trucks. Just like you, mine would think cars in the opposite lane were in my lane and either warn or even jab the brakes on a few occasions. Same for road signs or shadows too. My radar cruise barely worked as well. It was so jerky and it sometimes would lose track of vehicles in front of me and accelerate towards them then jab on the brakes once it started tracking them again.
I personally didn't like the ZF-9 transmission in the ridge either. It's super slow to shift from reverse to drive and mine would sometimes lag 2-4 seconds going into reverse if it was below zero out...
Cool trucks overall and super handy but I didn't trust mine and ended up selling it. If Honda went to the 10 speed trans and fixed the electronics, I'd deff look at another one, the current gen 2's, never again.

I think for the most part, Honda has made a lot of improvements overall in the 2024 refresh. My adaptive cruise control works pretty well. The collision mitigation can be turned off in my truck.. but I'm not sure if that was an option prior to the 2024 refresh. I did discover that the sensitivity can be changed in the vehicle settings.. so I tried that today. If it continues to bother me.. I'll disable it completely.

      @huie1983 20 днів тому

@@randomstuffwithjoe Glad your adaptive cruise actually works. Mine seemed to constantly want to tap the brakes and accelerator which made my passengers sick most of the time. I also had my sensitivity settings turned all the way down. It does help some but was still really bad in the fall with lots of shadows on the road from trees dropping leaves etc. I got tired of having to remember to disable it and you also have to stare at the warning light which is annoying.
Overall cool trucks that I think really have some half-baked features that ruin them. I'm hoping Honda fixes this stuff, I'd like to own another. Perfect for camping and the average homeowner to do house stuff. I do miss the utility of mine.

If your 12v battery dies and the Ridgeline can not be started, how does the Tow Truck driver get the transmission in to Neutral?
Maybe he will drag it on to his flatbed or maybe the front wheels will be lifted and the rear tires will drag.
Did Honda tell up that they sell a tool to attach on to the transmission to allow it to go into neutral?

He has to use a jump-pack and wake it up. Even newer cars with physical moving gear selectors are only electronic, they are not directly connected to the transmission mechanically.

The question remains. If the jump pack , even a new AGM battery does not start the Ridgeline how does the tow truck driver get the transmission out of Park and into Neutral?
Answer: The Honda tool must be attached to the transmission, turned clockwise, and pinned in place. While the transmission is pinned in Neutral, do not attempt to start the Ridgeline.
The tool physically replaces the missing shift lever, which was replaced with a push button panel, on the console.
