Enjoyable video Peter. On the way back home from Exeter on a Hastings Diesel Tour our charter train passed through Eastleigh(early evening Saturday 6th April) when we were treated to the sight of many 66's just parked up for the evening. With lots of enthusiasts on our train there were many cameras clicking away and much to the delight of the class 66 fans. It's nice to see the real thing and compare them with models we might have in our collections. I think you layout is superb with much attention paid to detail! Cheers for now Malcolm
Hi Malcolm, ohh yes I can quite understand the delight of one and all at seeing the real thing. This as you say was what my trip was all about, to see the real thing but I never expected to be so close as to be standing along side a few. I was so lucky as I did not go with any info regards timings of any trains and yet I was treated to a couple of hours of action. Again thank you so much for your kind comments All the best Peter
Hello Peter another great video, the filming at Eastleigh was brilliant, I've been going through your video's and learned some thing new in every one. regards Derick.
Fabulous footage peter, that's how it should be shown, up close and personal. You seem to have a natural filming talent...And you kept filming the entire train, excellent!
Thank you and yes those freight trains go on forever :) Was great to be so close, I was lucky they stopped right by me. Will go back that's for sure :) Cheers Peter
Great video the next time if you ever go to Eastleigh again there is a model shop in the high street A1 models or Ron lines in Southampton both good. I moved from Beckenham to Gosport 20 years ago I was in the fire service in Bromley and Downham in the 70s&80s
Great video peter reminds of a day I spent at Eastleigh with my youngest son many years ago there were still class 33s in those days stay well from pete
Nice video Peter, EH is my nearest decent station, plenty of videos of my visits on my channel. Might pop along tomorrow afternoon after Watching your footage. I need my fix 😂
Hi Scott and thank you. Just had a look at your channel and 'subbed' you. Had I had the space, your layout is the sort of thing I would have loved to have done, so will follow you with interest. Im now started to go through your videos at Eastleigh :) All the best Peter
I think it has a lot to do with the depth of the flanges. They are made so shallow on modern locomotives, etc, The locomotive would derail at the slightest imperfection in your track work. I have had some trouble with locomotives jumping as they cross Hornby points. I also saw it happen on Robert's Train Set. I have not measured the height of the plastic guild rails yet, but I think that may be the cause. Some rolling stock also have tension lock couplings with a longer drop arm. Instead of cutting them shorter, I folded the end back on itself to maintain the weight. I am at the testing stage at the moment with nothing glued down. I am DC only, but I do watch DCC channels like yours. Martin. (Thailand)
Hi Martin, yes totally agree, that's why I said a highly detailed model which included the wheels. Happily sorted now and alls well. Would hate to think how others faired if their track work is suspect. Now Hornby set track points V Peco. Just look at the amount of 'wobble' of rolling stock when running over Peco points I don't get that with my set track points. My points have had extra pins placed in them over the ones already there. It is vital that your points are totally 'flat' for reliable running and I hardly get any 'wobble' from wheels 'falling' into the gap at the frog area. Thanks for the contact, all the best Peter
Hi Peter just watched your video about your 08 shunter with the jerky speed steps on 1 l have a class 50 with tts and I have the same problem jerky till it gets to 4or5 would your fix cure it with the 150 engine algorithm work great 👍🏻 video Best wishes Kev Beighton Parkway Sheffield
Hi Kev, all TTS decoders have the option to change CV 150, so I would say it can't do no harm to try it. I have a Bachmann. class 66 fitted with a TTS chip and at first it lacked power until I changed CV 150 and it transformed the loco. So go ahead give it ago you won't damage anything. If you go wrong reset the chip with CV 8 set to 8 to restore default settings. Hope it works. All the best Peter
