My old school during the 60s. My aunt was thereabouts when the bomb struck. Luckily she was walking home to Verdant Lane. Did a lot of train spotting at Hither Green and was lucky to have a mates dad show us around the sheds.

Lot's of history like that Pete when we catch up...Next time you're at Kings X...stand 10 yards up platform 8 and look up at the arched steelwork...most is ornate except for several sections that are plain...that was where the bomb came through.

A sad and tragic act against Civilian Teachers and Young Children. The two halves of my family lived in East London. My father's family lived on York Road E17 and my mother's family on Prospect Road, Woodford Green. In York Road, a bomb fell four doors away taking out the next four houses to the right of Grandma's house and in Prospect Road a bomb fell two doors away to the left side of Grandma's house. My mum was not there at the time as she had been evacuated down to Newquay. Nice locos and the short running session. all the best. Martin. (Thailand)
