Peter you are a magician. What a great out of the box thinker you are. This little gem will be used by many, many modellers. Great film as always. Brilliant.
Great video on couplers. You took a broken Hunts Coupler, saved the magnet, attached the wire, and vola, "The Dixon Coupler." Like others have said, get it trademarked. Great ideas do come from South London. Bill from California
Hello Peter. Good video. Great idea with your home made coupler. I wouldn't be surprised if a manufacture comes out with something like this. All the best. Mick
Hello Peter, top work as usual. Your channel is one of my YT railway modeling highlights. Your concise explanations, ideas and practical solutions to so many modeling problems is always appreciated. I think your channel carries some clout with the manufactures, who no doubt watch too. Keep us updated on the new motors you've fitted on the Accurascale 37s. I'm really hoping they're better now and with trouble free running, as I've an Accurascale class 66 and 50 on order! I'm hoping they've sorted out their failing motor issue before these are released, or I will be extremely disappointed! I'm hearing that people are still waiting many months for their returned-for-repair 37s to be fixed, they are obviously inundated! All the best, regards Julian.
Hi Julian and thank you. As of this moment all 37s are fine. Now as I said I had a good chat with the Accurascale people, it would seem they are convinced that there was a faulty batch. Lets hope so and with that in mind the fact I have now fitted two of the new motors sent to me could well be problem sorted. Will let people know in following videos Cheers Peter
@@torridonroadbypeterdixon4162 That's some faulty batch! Remember that this motor issue exists in ALL of their loco classes up to and including the latest released 37s! I suspect it's poor materials/components and/or limited choice/availability, possibly due to the pandemic production shutdown/lockdown forcing them to use whatever they could get hold of......Something very amiss!
hi peter , as usual cracking vid , love the little coupling device you made , just begun taking my 24 ft loft layout apart as having to move to bungalow , wife struggling so hey ho ,, looking forward to building new layout and irioning out all mistakes made on first , all the best , john
Hi Peter, Excellent coupling engineering and you should patent that idea and produce a properly manufactured variant perhaps in conjunction with Hunt Couplings and make yourself some money...I'm being serious. I think you could design a prototypical screw link with magnets for the market which to me would be a coupling game changer in OO and surprised this hasn't been done already but what you have done here is spot on and could be an early prototype for much bigger ideas in this area. Cheers Steve.
Hi Steve, have to say it was tension lock or kadee for years it seemed, then along come Hunt magnets and its making the top people come up with different solutions Cheers Peter
Quite a good idea. Hornby have told me that small detachable couplings are not supplied because of the possibility of swallowing by young children! If there is no possibility of children playing with the layout and it's just the old man in his shed, then no worries! Perhaps not for those who allow grandchildren to play with the layout?
Oh yes for sure, these would be a nightmare if there were little ones around. I only do this for myself. Oh and snap regards your cat Wilkie, I have a ginger fluff ball to, called Snarf who keeps me company in the old mane shed especially if its raining outside. He doesn't like to get wet :) Cheers Peter
Hi Peter. Lovely running session as usual buddy. Your couplings are absolutely brilliant. Would love to have a system like yours. Didn't get to Alexandra Palace. Been going to the smaller exhibition's. Going to GETS though so might see you there if you go. Thanks again Peter. DELPH JUNCTION (Pete)
Excellent Peter I've told you before, get it trade marked and get west hill wagon works to make them so that you get a bit out of it. I'd buy some for definite cheers Andy
Hi Peter, cracking idea and thanks for showing this. if I were you, Id get this idea \ prototype coupling patented because some other manufacturer will likely pick it up, develop it and start selling the coupling.
You need to hurry up and get that coupling patent Peter before one of those big companies does. Looks and works a treat well done, if you had a strong magnetic at track level and drove over it slowly (backwards) would it pull your home made coupling downwards and making it an automatic uncoupler (just a thought). Many thanks for sharing and always a pleasure to watch regards Barry. 👍👏
Nice video Peter. Always amazes me how you fit so much in such a small space. Can you actually get locos in and out of the tmd behind the over bridge? Never seen anything moving there in your videos
Hi Al, yeah but for me it's a bit of fun at the end of the day. Not sure it would work on all setups, mines a very simple one. but thanks again Cheers Peter
Hello Peter Another brilliant video Great coupling idea brilliant. Can I ask when setting the back to back gauge for set track what do you use? Thank you Deano
Hi Peter, I, like you have created my own magnetic coupling. You have a briliiant simple design and wondering if you'd be able to demonstrate how it was made. Im sure many would like to replicate such a design.
Hi Peter excellent content and information. Which hunt coupling did you bespoke your coupling off please I couldn’t find the round looking one . Keep up the good work so us amateur’s can try and catch up 😂
Hi there and yes you're right I can't find them anymore. I used what I had in my stash. They are the original Hunt coupling which has now been superseded by the new 'elite' range. Sorry about that Cheers Peter
Peter another great video. Question what Hunt Magnetic couplers do you use. My layout has lots of 2nd radius track. I want to fit them on my Accurascale Wagons, many thanks Dallas
Hi Dallas, hunt elite, I have amassed a range of sizes now and if I find putting two shorts together is "two" short, I try putting a short with a medium. So mix and matching till I find the closest combo that works. It means always having the rake of wagons always in a set order which is fine for me. Cheers Peter

Excellent Peter, Great coupling idea. Someone will copy them I'm sure, ATB to you.Stuart

Hi there The tracks run through the shed but just outside the doors are buffers. Will have to do some videos of locos coming out for you
Cheers Peter
Very ingenious Peter. 👍
Thank you
Cheers Peter
Thats a neat idea. Works well too.
Thank you

Hi Peter, top video again as a few other have commented you need to patent your idea but i expect someone is already working on it cheers Al

Robert found me ok at Ally Pally but alas I didn't spot you in the considerable crowd. Great video, thanks Peter.
