Hi Peter, great video catch up, I’d just like to say that Hornby are missing an open goal by not doing a rerun of their Balfour Beatty vda van that you have in your collection, one came up on eBay last week and went for over £75! That’s as much as the EFE Rail crane, as kings of rereleasing older models they would do very well with that particular item, Balfour Beatty older items are hot topic items at the moment, the newer items not so much, if EFE Rail can get a license to produce a VDA van with nem pockets in the original livery they would make a tidy profit, I’m sure Bachmann produced a class 20 in Balfour Beatty blue & White livery in their collectors club range many years ago, if that was to make a return in the latest tooling it would sell well, probably won’t happen but your never know what’s on the horizon, thanks for sharing.

HI Peter, Thanks for this video it, gave me the information to trouble shoot, diagnose and repair my own class 37 with confidence! That being said, whilst I fixed my class 37 about 3 months ago, I'm back here again as my Class 92 is now doing the same thing... Same motor... same problem. I am worries as now 2/5 of the models I own that use this same motor (that i know of) have had this issue... will the others break? will they stand the test of time?

Peter, don't use a cotton bud as your bending former (mandril) as its too soft and you end up crushing the round out of shape, use something like a metal nail or similar. love the idea of these. Thanks for posting. One question, a lot of my loco hooks are only plastic, do you change some of yours out for the metal ones? Cheers, Max.

Hi Peter is Torrindon Road the road you live in I was a fireman at the old Downham fire station 30 years ago and that road rang a bell in this old mind as it was on our fire ground.love your videos loads of information and lessons learnt . Thanks Peter. Wasn’t quite sure how you manufactured your loco couplings but now can see it’s quite a simple process. 👌 I’d probably bend the wire round a watchmakers screwdriver to create the loop. I have a set of seven, all different sizes so should be able to custom fit any loco hook. Ingenious way to build different thicknesses for the wire loops adding layers of solder, and have to say, baking powder is a new one on me for fast curing super glue. Again, thanks for passing on the method. 👍

ideal coupling.will try,so form a metal loop and attach to magnet piece with superglue.

Nice one Peter👍 Get that “man shed” warmed up! There’s never a “mad-cap idea”. If it wasn’t for the Wright brothers “mad-cap idea,” we’d still be Earth bound and going around the world by ship! A great idea to use the coupling hook on the locomotive. That’s something I’ve considered in the past for use on wagons and coaches alike. Only problem being the fragility of the coupling hook fixing to the vehicle chassis. It’s about time manufacturers made all headstock coupling hooks usable rather than just decorative. Looking forward to seeing if you give a tutorial on how you made the loco magnetic loops. 👍
