I was 16 when he died in late September 1981 ... I could only understand what he won for Liverpool F.C. then. His love for common people, his Socialist Outlook, his enthusiasm for football and life, his motivation for himself and others, his No nonsense outlook, his love for football and Liverpool F.C. (who he built up) and his love for our city and our people ... that is what I could not understand then, yet I can understand it now ... a great football manager, a great man!.
I'd love to see more of that clip as well. It's dated August 1974 so must have been originally shown in response to Shanks retiring. Probably too early for anyone to have a copy on VHS, but hopefully if it's still in the Granada archives somewhere it will see the light of day eventually.
There's no way Paisley would have had the success he had without the foundations Shankly put in place. They needed each other and the other members of the boot room.

Very sad, but thanks for uploading. Would love to see the full clip of the ex-players reminiscing.

Rest in peace Shanks.

Bill Shankly was the beating heart of Liverpool, whilst Bob Paisely was it's brain. Bill needed Bob, while Bob just didn't need Bill.
