My father who would also have been 100 this year served with Bob during the war with the Royal Artillery in the Middle East. He also played football with him during that time and in one match Bob hit the bar with a shot from the half way line. My dad said it was the hardest shot he had ever seen. He said Bob was a lovely fella so that's good enough for me.

Definitely agree it should be posthumously Sir Bob Paisley because if Ferguson got for what he did at Man U then Bob Paisley definitely deserves it for everything he did at Liverpool. Brilliant manager.
Sadly im too young to have seen the legends of shanks and paisley but i tell you what, i dont think i've ever seen such a charismatic person as shanks! and looking at how much bob won in his few years he managed such a top manager :) absolute legends both of them :)

Well said, I find he's ridiculously underrated though. It's because he came after Bill, another genius, but I think we are now seeing at Man United how difficult it is to follow a successful manager. Bob hopefully is getting more recognition these days.
Big thanks for the upload. Great stuff this, Bob will always number one for me. Such a humble and brilliant man. So many legends in that program, Shanks, Liddel, Hughes, Busby, Keegan etc. Had a tear in me eye when Shanks came out, great to see them together.

Has anyone here noticed similarities between Bob Paisley and Vicente Del Bosque? Two men seen as quiet and unassuming, both reluctantly in the limelight. The players of both men see them more or less as uncles , neither I would imagine make rousing speeches. And yet, both Paisley and Del Bosque have an incredible eye for building great teams, making players better and have great individuals in a team pattern. Look at Liverpool for instance. In 1980 you have Ray Kennedy, Ray Clemence, Jimmy Case, David Johnson, Steve Heighway, Emlyn Hughes. By the 1982 Bob has integrated Bruce Grobellar, Craig Johnston, Rohnny Whelan, Steve Nicol, Ian Rush, Mark Lawrenson, all would go on to become great players. That is an incredible skill to bring in new talent and make the team just as good. Then in 1999 Del Bosque managed to turn Real Madrid from a rabble to European champions as caretaker manager within 6 months. And whilst Paisley built on Shankly's legacy, Del Bosque builds on Aragones achievement in 2008 Euros with Spain by turning them into world champions and retain the Euros in 2012. Both Paisley and Del Bosque produced football teams that is talked about for decades. I wonder if it is possible in the egotistical world of football to produce managers like Paisley and Del Bosque again?
When you think of what he did in the amount of time he did it, it's amazing. To follow a strong personality like Bill and go even further with the club took courage and genius.
