Thank you for the cool channel, Jonathan. The CX-5 Carbon Edition is a must have for me. I did a test drive and was impressed with the Carbon Edition. It`s got cool look inside and out and all the features I like such as turbo engine, Bose sound system, heated red leather seats, sunroof, power lift gate and nice rims.
Mazda had done a great job of keeping things interesting with the CX-5. This is a "tweeter" car with some Touring and Grand Touring features. A great parts bin car.
Just bought one yesterday. Buying the CX-5 GT Reserve is dumb when you get the same for 30K in the Carbon Edition. I'm so happy with it. In sport mode, it really moves.
@@samgao Those are unimportant features. Digital gauge doesn't make a difference, I live in San Diego- no need for cooling seats not hot enough, heated steering wheel- not hot enough, and rear heated seats- my daughter is in her car seat. Not worth paying the extra 7k for.

Carbon Turbo - Both the FWD and AWD versions come with the slightly larger/upgraded front brakes. According to the Mazda website, only the AWD version comes with the larger (15.3 gallon) fuel tank.
I put down a deposit on one of these as only 2 were making it to my local dealership. Once it arrived I found out the money factor was so high that I could of leased a CX-5 GTR for less money. Even though the price on the Carbon Edition is less is expensive. I passed.
Definitely a beautiful version of the CX5. Would’ve loved the darkened chrome on the rest of the vehicle though and @mazda #mazda when are you bringing us a Panoramic MoonRoof?
@@JSS That's unfortunate. Though, Mazda has come a long way. Definitely planning in leasing a CX-5 fairly soon. The Carbon Edition Turbo AWD will be the GO-TO! The CX-5 Carbon is definitely the weakest Carbon model, with the Mazda6 Carbon being the strongest. As much as I'd want the red leather and black wheels, if I'm already spending this kind of money on a new car I'd just get one of the normal trims with the stuff I want.
Great video but I hate dealerships that add their emblems to vehicles. I wouldn't buy from their dealership unless they removed it and repolished the spot where they put it.
That is because the CE is really on par with a Touring trim model as far as how it’s spec’d out and set up in the Mazda trim lineup. It slots under GT. The one exception is the CE Turbo - previously it wasn’t possible to get turbo @ the Touring trim level. So that’s a good thing and I hope Mazda continues to ‘trickle down’ turbo to lower trims.....
Do you think it would be possible to upgrade the lighting to the signature headlights and taillights? I’d imagine it’d be an easy swap, but if you could check with service, that’d be most helpful. 😁
@@boristeplitskiy7632 So, I haven’t actually swapped these, but in talking with a technician, there are still some questions whether the adaptive lights will be functional at all without the correct module in the Carbon. Taillights may not have the right connectors.
Great video Jonathan! Does the navigation chip come with this model? Yes, I'm still pissed that I have to buy it separately for my 2020 grand touring. I initially wanted to wait to get the 2021 carbon but the year end deal on the 2020s were incredible. I'm glad I didn't wait as this model is not very impressive compared to what I got. I got the pearlized white w/the 2 tone interior. I like those black 19" wheels on the 2021 but that's the main standout to me. Love your videos I wish I could have bought mine from you!
Hi Jonathan, just wondering what the difference between cx5 carbon edition vs kuro edition? Which trim would you consider if you have tight budget? GX, GS or Kuro? I am thinking about kuro and would love to have one once the new 2022 models are out but does kuro trim makes a lot difference from GS? Thanks!
I'm not as versed in the trims overseas, but I believe much like our Carbon Edition, the Kuro has more to do with appearance than anything. So from the GS you would have black wheels, Polymetal Gray or Jet Black Mica, with Red or Black Leather. The Kuro also upgrades some interior features like 10-way power driver seat and 6 way passenger as well as memory seats on driver.
@@JSS thanks for the response. I do have a quick question. Do you have a email address that I can contact you on. Text sometimes gets overwhelmed with longer comments. Thanks again for the great content on your channel I love the channel.

Completely baffled by the decision to make this special model not come with the ability to get the GT package add-ons. Just seems like a huge missed opportunity by Mazda
They’re really not needed from a functional perspective. I guess maybe it’s a cosmetic thing to you?? The main LED headlights are extremely good. Fog lights - which are really just cosmetic driving lights in this application -don’t add much to the equation. If you must have them, add them as a dealer accessory for about 400 bucks....
Just got my carbon edition turbo, love it! But I am desperately bothered by the front seat which automatically moves back every time the door is opened. At first it's a nice welcoming feature to let you get in the car easily. But since I have programmed the memory position I really don't need it to move back and force when I want to just start and go! I looked through the user manual and searched online extensively with no luck. Seems nobody is talking about this and the dealership knows no better. Please help!!
I love mine but pissed I didn't get Bose because of "chip shortage" and I'll never understand why they didn't do red stitching on the upper door panels and dash
Hi! I own the 2016 GT version. One of the most annoying things that bugs me about my vehicle are the headlights. It doesn't seem to go too far down the road does that make sense? It just doesn't seem like my car lights up the road like other cars. Is this a common complaint? How are the headlights different on the newer version?
Now with your 16 CX5 being a GT it should’ve come with factory LED headlights. Is that correct? Do you have LED or halogens? The Mazda halogens from that era were awful. I used to have a 17 Mazda6 and I swapped out the halogens for LED headlights as the halogens were so bad they didn’t feel safe. The factory LED headlights on the current CX5 model (starting for 2017) are very good. The low beams are so bright you’ll not only see exceptionally well, but also be seen (with other drivers occasionally flashing you thinking that you have your high beams on)......
@@buchajo thank you! I have to go back to my paperwork to see if was halogen lights. I gotta find someone to change the lights. Just doesn't seem bright right now. Embarrassed when other cars lights over take mine. Just saying that my lights just don't cut it. Worse when driving in the rain.
Just bought one today, with all black inside, to go along with my 2016 Mazda 3 which has been a great little car for 51,000 miles. We pick it up next week, and I can not wait. Great video, you do a great job at showing these for sure.
