In February 1980 we were invited to the home of Terry Jones (1942-2020) to talk all things Monty Python and a lot more besides. He was talking to Graeme Shaw.
When I was 16 I discovered Monty Python and Terry Jones was my sort of secret "guilty pleasure" crush, because even then I knew that *technically* kids my age didn't like men who looked like him but I just did. Now that I'm 40 it's so obvious to me: handsome, gorgeous hair and passionate, so smart, funny, well spoken, down to earth, sweet and talented. So much of his life spirit is what made him so attractive. Feeling very wistful and sad for his family and friends. Grateful to be reminiscing some of these cool interviews I've never seen. Thanks for sharing.
I really can connect with this comment! Im 16 and I have a thing for young Jones and young Palin, both are incredibly smart, extremelly funny, cute and have gorgeous hair. None of my friends even know what Monty Python even is. So deeply saddened about Terrys passing :(
Rest in Peace dear Terry. I will always love you dressed in drag and talking about Spam. You role as Brian's mom will always be my favorite character from the Life of Brian. And how much laughed as they showed you as the naked organ player. Thank you for all those laughs and for working with Jim Henson on Labryinth.
I actually discovered this guy through his series Medieval Lives only to find out after the fact that John Cleese doesent deserve all the credit for Monty Python.
Everyone remembers Cleese , Idle, Chapman and Palin for their acting roles outside of Python and Gilliam for his direction of other films but Terry Jones was the director of their greatest works. A truly brilliant man!
@@kevinbill9574 Yep, I had the same reaction. He looks like a young you tuber or something, not someone working for the MSM. Whoever he is, he is not young now.
I’m a Christian and I’ve got to say.... this movie was NOT ABOUT JESUS! It had absolutely nothing to do with Jesus. It was about a man who lived at the same time as Jesus, his name was Brian and through silly circumstances and misunderstandings, some idiots thought he was The messiah. Hence the name “Life of BRIAN”. Now although in a very short scene, Jesus is portrayed but in a far off scene. And there are some images that might make me spiritualy uncomfortable but that’s more of a personal thing. So as Christians we need to get a grip! This is really spoofing the time in which Jesus lived and showing in a comical way, it wasn’t too different from our time.
Derek Roberts I agree. That said, although Life of Brian wasn't in any way an attack on Jesus, it WAS mocking the mindlessness and gullibility of so many followers of religion. Hence the line to the faithful "You have got to think for yourself..."

Tel was a bit of a shagger wasn't he? Think he had a fair bit of female attention!
I have a huge crush on Terry myself and can fully subscribe to that 😀
@@TheAlmightyAss I guess so 😉
@@aichagermany me too
Rest well, Terry Jones. Dying is the only thing you've ever done that hasn't made me laugh.
Casey Gilbert lol
I hope the organist at his funeral is nude in his honor.

That was a wholesome comment, thank you.
It was hilarious when he was in a burrow wearing nothing but a long beard in the Life of Brian
terry jones body was very sexy ha ha
RIP Terry Jones
(1942-2020).
Just like the rest of the Pythons, bloody genius. You will be sadly missed RIP Terry
R.I.P Terry Jones... one of my favourite Pythons
Terry Jones was so good, a very talented man and a great humorist.
6:34 lollll classic, classic, CLASSIC Terry with the way the starts that response.
I actually discovered this guy through his series Medieval Lives only to find out after the fact that John Cleese doesent deserve all the credit for Monty Python.
yep he did about a 6th. maybe a bit more cause he wrote with graham.
"This guy"?
He's done a number of great historical documentaries. The Rome and Egypt ones are really good, too.
@@bartcolen Terry Jones directed greatist Pyton's films 🌞
My favourite Python

RIP Mr Jones. What a comedy genius you were and what a legacy you leave behind.
Good night, sweet prince.
Talent and technology came together at the right place and time. We are lucky. RIP Terry Jones.
Inadvertently, Terry Jones changes to his normal speaking voice: 6:37
Rip you very naughty boy !!!
Terry Jones doing Hitchhikers would have been a lot better than the movie we ended up with.
Rest in peace. You were one of my favorite people in show business.
RIP to a fine bloke.
He was hilarious as Brian’s mother 😅😂🤣 , the movie’s most distinctive character
When Graham opened that window it was a beautiful moment
I always thought terry jones was the best looking of all of them
NFW. Cleese easily.
@@clivenaylor5392I think he is the most interesting looking, but Palin, Jones, and young Idle were better looking.
Rest in blissful peace, you genius.
RIP Legend
Great interview. Ask questions and listen.
Makes a pleasant change.
R.I.P. Terry Jones
Terry, you were/are brilliant. His film ”Personal Services” is great. RIP
Oh no, at the end, one of the great un-mades--Terry Jones directing Hitchhiker's Guide!
Delightful interview. Thank you.
Pleasure
This is wonderful. Thank you for sharing it.
My favourite Python and a hero of mine.
JESUS CHRIST THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
+Alan Swet My Pleasure.
Terry We Gonna Miss U,,,RIP,,,
Thank you very much, Colin !!
My pleasure
It's only a flesh wound. I'm getting better.
The one and only Mrs Scum. "That's very tempting, never 'ad one up there before!"
The show was always hit and miss and weird but THE BISHOP is one of those dying laughing skits. Even the audience dies laughing, which is rare.
The opening animation to the "Bishop" sketch was based on the 1965 ATV/ITC colour series, "The Baron" !
But did they paint the sand white and then paint it yellow in Tunisia? I am really sad over Mr. Jones's departure. Farewell, good sir.
Rest In Peace
RIP Terry.
Blimey!!
RIP Terry
Such a shame Jones and Adams never got to make any movie together, let alone Hitch Hiker's.
Also, how old is this host? 12? Dx
I thought George Harrison what the main backer for Life of Brian....
He was, I thought it was kinda odd that he wasnt mentioned. I figure Terry was getting to it but then the interview just moved along
And Denis O’Brien
Hey hey 🌞 Terry Jones directed Life of Brian
2:47 "...and er... a wecord company..." Struggles to remember the name "Apple". That would have surprised all the Gen Zs and Millenials watching...
Why can't people think of anything different to ask these guys than "where did the name come from"?
Rest in peace I guess.
RIP
Rip
💔❤😭🥺
Who was/is Graeme Shaw? He looks about 15. This is like something from a 1980 UA-cam channel
Didn't know UA-cam was around in the 1980's?
@@ColinGrimshaw I was putatively postulating the existence of such a thing. It was more a polemical device than a literal observation

yasss right to the 13th century
I mistook the charming interviewer for Julian Clary in his public school days...
Well.......
Was this broadcast on British TV at the time?
No, it was not.

Well, no, it's not spoofing the time in which Jesus lived. It's spoofing YOU.
Yes, Brian was real, Jesus is just a myth.
Such a good send up of religion...
Should be classified as documentary😁
