Robert Conrad is my favorite star when I were 9 year old in Vietnam.😄😏I love to watch every day after school the Wild Wild West.
I lived in Sitka for 2 years and my sister for 14, before that she was in Ketchikan with her family....I loved Alaska, the native Tlingit and Inuit culture, the Russian Orthodox Chuch....this film was good, the wilderness is fierce and to be respected....bless from Arizona 🦁
Don't drag your children into adults freaking problems. He was against the mother seeing the children, led to their worst nightmare, that nearly killed all of them.
Coming from a family of six siblings raised by a single mom, this film reminded me of how protective my older brothers and sisters were.
They all went to work when they were 14 waiting tables so they could help mom pay the bills.
You forget about how close your family is until you see something like this.
Strong family, your lucky & blessed to have stuck together!!! Your mom raised you right
Anybody with more than 3 children should be shot
Or how estranged one’s family is! But I’m glad yours was/is tight- everyone needs that, even though it doesn’t always work out that way.
I was a single father desided to have no other children I can´t take cere of. Since I cut off my psychopathic mother we were doing allright. My gril is now 28 expecting third boy, guess there´s no grandaugter in my stars. My girl has good man and good life, she likes to talk about her childhood, specially our friday nights. We were watching movies till she was 17. There was no bed time this night and no dinner. It was our special movie night with special treat food. While we did not have much through the rest of the week.
2023 from a family of 11 children and no father later in life your older siblings are the corner stone of a family.
Our mother went full time work at 54 to give us some life ❤
Kudos to all the actors who had to survive all the harshness to bring this story to life
❤️💯
Absolutely
Lol.
The sea is unforgiving....yes it is true. I wasa merchant navy officer and a sea captian working on large container vessels for 18 years and learnt that an alert captain is a safe captain.....good wishes Vartilak...may you and your Family..... Live Good.
I have been searching for this movie for a long time I remember watching it when I was much younger. Thank you for putting this on here!
My family we always enjoyed wild wild west..IN the 60.s, when the. T.v. guide ruled..Robert Conrad. One of our favorite actors. Ba ba black sheep..he did alot of great shows great actor..thank you utube....😊
Thing about this fantastic movie is we don't even have to watch it to know that it going to be awesome, we know this because of the iconic, actors alone. Thank you for being your amazing selves everyone, peace and much love sent from Ontario, Canada.
A good movie; but dad put them all in danger. He should’ve listen to his son. They were awesome children. Thank you
If this is a true story, the "accident" was caused by the skipper's severely deficient seamanship: (1) failure to monitor weather forecast, (2) failure to maintain a watch on deck, (3) failure to use charts (obviously didn't know where they were since they ran up on some rocks - there was no navigation activity going on at all throughout the trip), (4) failure to act properly after the impact (e.g., did not even make the least attempt to jury rig a repair for the tiller, or control boat's direction using the sails, or by any of a number of techniques well known to seamen, and then compounding the problem by anchoring right next to a large rock in rough seas??? He practically sank his own boat on purpose!!), (5) failure to have a vhf radio on board (to monitor the weather and call for help), (6) giving up on the boat before ascertaining whether it was, in fact, sinking (which it did not appear to be until the moron decided to drop the anchor right next to the rock and waited to be bashed against it), etc..
i hear you.
As a long time sailor, you make valid points. I also find it amusing that the men did not show any facial hair after that many days.
Great movie. Survival and Hope! Hope is a good thing! Hope never dies. Survived that what adventueres do. This familly made it. Im 70yrs have had many adventures am lucky to be alive dog and i waiting for next run. Never try these things unless you are trained. Broken bones and I still go on! Have Wife and two well educated girls. They know what daddy does??? Always support and hospitals. Peace Out and Love Jesus has Blessed me. MMLZZZ
Ain't no Way you'd catch me here.
It's movies like this that makes me happy to be living in my little bedroom.
That is a for sure. I have a roof over my head my own bathroom, kitchen, window and my own door. My cat is so too.
Goodness me that dad is full of hope and glory. He spreads so much joy and positivity. A real tower of strength.....
It's great seeing Robert Conrad in a movie from the past , good actor and wild wild west from the 60s !! God Bless 🌴
It sickens me the HELL he put them through and basically STOLE their lives and they STILL went back to him!! Even after he used the older 2 to take care of him and his "baby"!!
They didn't have to live like that!! But he even refused to sign up for his disability!! I like watching this movie. But the REAL story is sickening!!
The dad is so protective over his kids he loves them so much n will do anything for his family this family is a real survivor thankyou jesus they got through the rough thankyou jesus I had never seen this film can't believe it was made in 1990 when I started high school wow it is such a blessing to watch films like these blessings to this loving family ❤ the lord was watching over them from the start to the end n forever
Oh yes-'the lord was watching over them from the start to the end'. But he had lost his glasses, so missed a few things.
OMG, what a fantastic movie. It's incredible any one of the 4 survived. ❤
My mom used to listen to radio shows when she was small- and here I am, gushing over 80s films from my childhood on UA-cam. Times change.
The son is very smart and intuitive. The dad.. Not so smart nor intuitive. At least they possibly sold the true story and made some money. Good movie literally kept me at the edge of my emotions.
This is a griping story of a family against all odds of survival in the harshest extreme of lessons to be learned when going against fair warning !! God bless this family always dear lord Jesus !! This should speak to us all about hearing the voice of our lord before we step out of his will for us. This is why we need to be silent in order to hear his voice. God bless you all !!
God bless you too!
I saw this when it originally aired many years ago, and all I remember is the dynamic chemistry and great acting of Robert Conrad and Matt LeBlanc and how amazing the movie was in general.
One of the best survival films ever made. An excellent film to watch. I suggest this is a must watch. PC. 19. 05. 2022.
This is a good movie about family and surviving in the cold harsh Alaskan area and climate. When it comes to the out door elements, I don't think anyone could ever know enough or be prepared enough for truly trying to survive out in it, especially under extreme heat or cold. I'm really surprised that anyone could have lived through any of this. Many die every year caught in situations just like this one. For me, I don't think I would have made it for more than a few hours once I got soaked in the freezing water and then pounded by freezing cold winds and snow like these folks. This was like a miracle that there were any survivors at all. I won't tell the story or who survives it because, it would ruin the movie for you. I will just say that I do recommend this movie. Decent sound, too.
Good job and Thanks for sharing!
My ex husband surprised me with bankruptcy for our wedding gift- something that I couldn't get out from under, although I had no debt. We ended up living off of the grid on a mountain top, where he became abusive and tried to kill me. He was removed, but I was badly hurt, and had 2 children- and lived in a remote place, with no furnace( he sabotaged). I did have running water. I came from a major city, where I had multiple advanced degrees- I cannot explain how we survived- I dragged a toboggan into the deep woods where I chopped wood with an axe, because I had a wood stove. Melted water on the wood stove. My car would not make it up the mountain, so I pulled the toboggan up a mountain with groceries, and a baby strapped into the toboggan in snowsuit and sleeping bag- I would have to be out in -35f- and I had no winter gear, coming from the city, and my ex stealing all of our money. We survived, and eventually could leave- but, it was outrageous. I can understand this movie well.
To say it’s only a low budget, made for television film, it’s still very well acted and directed. Maybe it’s because young actors, like Matt Leblanc was here, are hungry for success early in their careers, or maybe it’s because it’s a great, true, story of triumph and survival against the odds; or more likely, it’s a combination of those elements. Whatever it is, it’s well worth watching.
@@lindaanderson7077 Very well done. Well done for surviving.
This is a great movie, and disasters like these often bring families closer together.
I can never take Matt LeBlanc seriously.
Incredible. What an amazingly strong, brave family. xx
I thought this was a story that would be a piece of junk but I was wrong. Touching story with a happy ending. Important thing is it was based on a true story
Saw this when it came on TV hard to believe those girls survived and with injuries but not many and minor in the grand scheme of life. Amazing what the human body can endure when tested.
What a sad film sure bring tears too your eyes
Such a moving story
It’s bad enough being cold can you imagine
Being wet and cold and no heat ,
No food no drink no shelter
Give this film ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Makes you realise what you got
I'm glad you enjoyed my movie
And I thought that I was having a bad day. This is so heartbreaking so sad what they went through jeez praise the lord those girls survived
Omg this movie wore me out, snow and rain worse weather to be on the water, love the actors, really good movie.thanks
Bravo ! And bless this family that stood together no matter the situation they were in
Great film about a dad and kids surviving in the wilderness of Alaska
True stories are often the best
That dad has zero common sense !! He continued to make one poor choice after another !! He should have listened to his kids..they must have gotten their smarts from there mother !!. God was watching over them !!
Yes a time when movies didn't need graphic violence, huge explosions etc. to be very entertaining. Just a great story told by good actors. Sadly in this case it was just 3 decades ago.
Was it?
Agreed the best movies were back then now they all suck!
@@davidschmidt270 yeah creature features werent every movie, they also didn't need to blow up everything ( I've seen megaquake, volcanos, sharks, houses, tiger ECT all being blown up to...stop them) it's like if we can't stop it we will blow it up
Yep Hollyweird ruined everything from movies to sports to politics...glad I grew up before all that
"This presentation *focuses on* the *myriad ways* in which the *powers-that-be* in the *United States have been systematically dumbing down Americans as a society for a very long time* - *all by meticulously calculated design."* - ARTICLE - *"The Dumbing Down of America - By Design".*
As a Mother I do not blame them for separating and going off to hopefully get help or a radio, but after warming up I would even feel guilty for doing that. I would be off with a long stick poking at the snow to find a hard surface to find that boat and dig it out, drag it into the cabin if I had to and patch it up inside. Hopefully be out of there sooner, bringing back food etc... and hopefully helping those girls sooner. I know what frozen feet feel like and you can barely even walk on them. I had to warm my feet by a wood stove once. Never rub frozen feet. Granted it must be harder to survive in Alaska than it is here in the country in Ontario, but I never liked how he did not try to build a shelter and keep the fire going in a less open area to protect the fire from the elements and to offer more protection for themselves. Here in the country I would have placed rocks around after digging a circle to stop the fire from spreading to the forest and built it under more protection. Get under some canopy and start building little by little by daylight.
WOw what a nice movie. Many touching moments. Life is hard in Alaska and harder at the sea. Makes one realise how lucky people are to be on dry land with all the food and goodies. But they keep grumbling about life not realising what blessing they still have.
Great movie of the strength of family supporting family. That frostbite is no joke. Been there done that. OUCH! does Not cover it.
Reading comments while watching movie 😅
Glad the ending, storywriter is kind and merciful
I remember when this story came out. They did a story about the family and their experience in “Drama in real life” story in the Readers Digest. At the time of the story and photos of the family, there was one daughter ( I can’t remember which one), her photo was taken and she was wearing silver colored wire frame glasses in the pic. At the time, she was an identical twin image of me, same hair cut, glasses and looks! Kicker is, my maiden name is also Wortmann, but spelled with two “n’s”. On my fathers side, I remember it being talked about that a couple generations back, there was some brothers that had a falling out and went their seperate ways. So we had a branch of our family that we no longer had any contact with. I always wondered if the Wortmans in Alaska were distant relatives since Elmo’s daughter and I were identical at that age/time. Years later when I got older, I actually tried writing letters to different Wortmans in Alaska to see if I could find them. At that time, I did not have the article or even know about a movie that was eventually made. So I was not sure of any first names. I did have a few people write me back, but none where the right ones. Maybe it would be easier to track them down in this day and age???
Yes try now! Use genealogy sites and DNA.
Robert Conrad s best performance, not seen this before, nice top quality print, thanks for putting on. The film oviously worked judging from so many comments , bear in mind this was a dramatisation of true events, the main point biang is how much the family care d for one another under such a life threating. situation . Mr Conrad and all the cast did a fabulous job acting in very difficult conditions, one of the best TV movies ever made.
That is really a stretch to say this is Conrad's best performance! I actually thought he was a little "wooden" until the last part of the movie. To me his best performance was in the Columbo episode An Exercise in Fatality. I liked him MUCH better in that. One of the best Columbo episodes.
@@Dion-rz3fz yes I agree, a fantastic episode shows Conrad to his full potential, got the box set of Columbo episodes and that's the one I've watched the most, yes would be his best performance.
It's long but teach's us about the consequences ofour choices and keeling the faith and go the extra mile for loved ones!
The dad was very stubborn, proud and arrogant. We are here on planet earth as teachers and students. It's not gonna kill you to learn from children . in other words dad could of reasoned with the son the son had a few points. Glad they made it though
I saw this on UA-cam YEARS ago. The only thing I remembered about it was when the girls were found barely clinging to life. I've seen it twice more since then and still, all I could recall was that scene. Going in for the fourth time waiting for that scene. I was surprised to see that Joey had played the son. Great movie well worth watching.
@jeanscruggs812 He will ALWAYS be Joey. 😁
I love this movie , Thank you for sharing
Goes sailing in the winter with his family and does't know negative from positive. Real Einstein!
In movies where the characters aren’t very bright I always start to root for Mother Nature.
Robert Conrad was my teenage heart-throb -- loved him.
best family movie I've seen in a long time. I cried when they finally went to go get the girls. I'm so happy they all made it alive. may God bless them all. and thank you for sharing their story with the UA-cam family!
I gotta stop reading comments to see if ppl say it’s good… the thumb nail grabbed my attention so I started reading comments. I got to yours and 🤷♀️ Guess I’ll keep scrolling since you BLEW IT for anyone who reads the comments first. Gotta stop doing that. You could’ve said the movie was fantastic , shows that families should work together in bad situs and that you highly recommend it. 😕
The stupid, stubborn SOB is just how my father was...thick headed and scared too even begin to imagine that his " little boy " could help. And it almost cost him everything.
That's amazing those girls are so strong, they survived almost awhole month with nothing but eachothers warmth. What a great movie thanks for uploading.
Great story.
Good film.
Thank you.
It is a true story
It really shows what it's like to be completely lost in sub-zero freezing Alaskan... burrrrr (tremble, tremble) I think the actresses that played the two daughters are tremendous actors in this movie. My God, to be left behind freezing to death without food, shelter or a fire... 😵
... finally saw the ending. I can't believe the girls were still alive when they went back... unbelievable. Are you sure this is a true story?
This was a good movie, don't take family members for granted love them with all of ur heart and tell them that everyday. God bless everyone. From. Kentucky
Margaret Campbell ky rocks
@@StarAnnasDream Thanks
God Bless you too
That cold water must’ve been a real shock to the system.
I don’t think that I could have managed even five minutes. They did incredibly well to push their selves.
I'm 65. These movies are the best.
What a heartfelt movie that left you questioning, our choices in life...very recommended!
Basic survival skills would have made a huge difference. Knowledge on how to make fire without using fuel. Making a proper shelter to stay warmer and keep them out of the wind and rain/snow. And the list goes on...
That ending had me in floods of tears. Thanks for uploading.
I watched this I think 3x and still really love it! For the 3rd time, I just want to cry :(
father is stubborn with poor decision making skills.....
That's a bad combination of attributes.
Gotta love Matt leblanc. Lol. Sometimes he is funny when not meaning to be. Great movie.
those poor little girls in that freezing cold for over two weeks
Thank you utube for sharing this awesome and inspiring film. And yes , that was Joey from friends, or before friends? Great actors, very good performance.
A solid tale of survival in the Alaskan wilderness. Thanks for the viewing.
+Rebecah Clifton its sarcasm, you dweeb...
+Rebecah Clifton where in Alaska did you stay Steve Eells
+Nancy Morris omg i meant Rebecca lol
+Rebecah Clifton I lived in Fbks. And yes a privilege to live there indeed.
+joshua felty no the book almost to late
I love survival movies! Thanks for the upload 👏🏻
Wow,it's hard to believe that 1990 was 30 years ago....where does it all go?
I just wanted to say this movie was really worth watching...❤loved it!!!!
I remember watching this when it aired originally. Really good movie. Thanks for posting it.
The father was a freaking "know it all". Good movie..
What a grueling trial those folks went through. It looked pretty rough for the actors too. Great movie.
I love the ocean, but only looking at while sitting on the beach!
me too lol
Megan Bordenave hahaha. That’s the way I like it
Love SteveClark Same same. It greatly reduces the odds that I’ll be eaten by a shark.
on a sunny day in summer, surelly...
me too
Good movie a family should definitely stick together in a situation like that but also listen to one another making critical decisions together. Sometimes parents need to trust their kids enough to hear them out
FATHER WAS A DICK
He was still thinking about what the kids mother had said, I think!
Good movie, people keep saying that the Youngest sister is a brat, Shoot, The youngest sister is strong willed. not giving up, keeping her big sister awake not giving into hypothermia, So you people saying she's a brat, No, shes a Beast !
+Roy Mckenzie Agreed and that is why I think they should have given her a good dunking instead of drowning her.
Ya like only a survival “ beast” would hand on the back of their drowning father while SCREAMING “ daddy don’t let me die” while REFUSING TO SWIM ..#SMHallday
she also survived a bullet from Farrah Fawcett!
To the people who says it’s a terrible movie…yes it’s your opinion but remember also it’s a based on a true story with some of the names changed and some parts dramatised. I think it was good for its time. :)
I can't believe that I keep choosing movies that I have seen before.
It happens a lot.
I'm on the last chapter of the book. The book is called Almost Too Late by Elmo Wortman. A very good book
14 minutes left in the movie!!!! Super anxious!!!! Great movie!!!!! Stop judging, folks. This is a survival movie not looking for an Academy Award. Just saying.
Superb I watched it 7 times
Matt LeBlanc sure is a good looking guy. Now he is an old man. It happens to all of us. Time passes by so fast and we just end up with memories. Better make good memories because that is all we will have left.
As we ride the wind,
the mountains age,
The trees wither,
And we are no more.

I first saw this movie as a child in the 90s and forever remembered the girls in the snow with one of them talking about the food . Good to finally find it :) (people always said it was Survive The Savage Seas though I also saw that in the 90s and knew it was not the movie)
I don't know what time of year this happened but Dixon Entrance is a mean stretch of water that I know well. I think it was a little irresponsible of the dad to take on that trip unless it was during summer. Surely the real boat was bigger and more seaworthy. It was also very irresponsible to not have a flare gun with plenty of flares. There's a lot of boat traffic in that area. They would have been rescued in no time. Southeast Alaska is the most so close and yet so far away place in the world. Almost all the terrain is unhikeable. Its been over 40 years since I've been threre but what I remember is that the weather reports were notoriously unreliable.
Agreed. Huge judgment error going to Rupert that time of year!
I never would have left my young children alone like that...horrible
Wow, what an amazing true story that I would wish on no one.
A story of bravery.
We get our strength from our ancestors.
I suppose anything can happen at any time,.... but I choose to go prepared or not go at all.
wonderful film thank you so much for the upload
very good movie, made my tears fall. Thank you for the upload!
So glad to find this movie again. I saw it years ago and still remembered it.
What an awesome movie!! No, I won't tell the ending. I will say that I loved it so much that I subscribed to this channel. They don't make movies like this anymore. Thanks for the upload!!
Saw this a long time ago. Was pretty good, and based on a true story.
Wow amazing praise god those two girls survived I know it was hard but god brought them through, and the father and son, they all were brave.
Thanks again for sharing life with enthusiasm awesome video and history MAN
If this story is accurate...the son is the level headed hero..
In this version the dad gave up..
even in the note to the cabin owners the father didn’t even mention the daughters...
not sure how accurate this version is.
I would love to know the story from the girls side of this..
A person that starts to cross the sea in a small yacht in the beginning of February, at the latitude of Alaska, needs an appointment with a shrink.
look at the brighter side , if he didnt , we wont b watching a movie rite now
True :)
I did it on a 20ft Gannett easy as
I didn't bother to watch this idiot's stupidity. Did he at least kill off all his spawns and stopped his stupidity from spreading?
Sounds about right!
Ok so 38 minutes in and I'm officially out I think I deserve a medal for making it this far.
Good luck anyone who dears to continue 😂🤣😂
Enjoyed the movie, thanks for posting.
Nice movie, nice photography, nice acting, nice story, it reminds me to follow your instincts and listen to you kids. Thanks
It's very surprising how those two girls could survive so long in such a terrible weather, but it's a true story and I'm happy atleast they are alive. GOOD MOVIE.
@G E T R E K T sorry to burst ur bubble but it is based on a true story
@G E T R E K T it says at the beginning, but clearly you can’t read. Fyi the bible is true. Clearly you have lost your faith.
@@meganpatterson1901The so-called bible is not true, you brain dead, gullible, lying, ignorant, child. It doesn't make any sense. Smdh.
Awesome movie..heart wrenching...was very pleased the youngest girl showed strength eventually. The dad irritated me...I wished he wasn't so stubborn! But that's me from the coziness and safety of my couch. 😊
I found the youngest girl irritating
Awesome realistic movie ! Thank you for the upload !
Enjoyed every minute of it, thanks, from Rachel ov the UK Sheffield xxx
