I always thought it was brilliant that Tim Burton's Batman starts showing what seems to be his backstory, and then it turns out that it's Batman saving another kid from experiencing the same as him. It's such a nice twist which works even better after time, since we've seen that backstory a million times in other movies. That said, I really like the Schumacher Batman films too, they're simple campy fun, which does have some layers of depth underneat when you look for it...well, Batman Forver has, at least.
Schumacher did exactly the thing he was hired for, which was to make a movie that would allow WB to sell a ton of Batman-related toys and merchandise, and speaking as someone who was a kid at the time, and who had very little interest in Batman to that point, it worked. I got my parents to buy me several Batman Forever toys (rather than previously having received some random Batman toys from relatives), as well as the comic book adaptation of the film, and that's what they aimed at doing with the film. A nicely well-thought and articulated video, I'd say.
Batman Forever is pretty decent, but it improves by a lot if you watch the deleted scenes that were going to tie it more concretely to the Burton films and explore why Batman felt the need to kill people.
Funny enough, outside of the Justice League cartoons in the 2000's, I never really dabbled into Batman media until 2011 where my parents showed me the Burton and Schumacher films for the first time, and then I watched the Nolan films on my own time, then went off and watched BTAS, Beyond and the Adam West show before looking into the comics To this day, I still get some goosebumps watching the first 10 minutes of 1989
Honestly, I kinda miss when these movies could just be movies instead of chapters in an endless book where they tell either the same story again and again or something so grandiose so as to be unrelatable. I guess what it takes to get me into superhero movie reviews again is long hair, sharp eyeliner, and tinted glasses…
I'll die on the hill that Arnold as Mr. Freeze was well cast, but poorly written and directed. if B&R Mr. Freeze was comically cold personality-wise it would work better with the over the top 90s attempt at 60s Batman camp, rather than just feel contradictory (like Freeze dancing and mocking the heroes for losing because of their emotions while he himself is being a bombastic clown)
It could just be because I grew up with the movies, but I liked Batman Forever growing up and didn't think Batman and Robin was an affront to cinema. Sure, both were extremely over the top and goofy and some villain portrayals are a bit off (Riddler essentially being Mad Hatter), but you could say the same for the Burton films in some regard too (Penguin essentially being Killer Croc).
Ironically, Batman Forever wasn't originally supposed to begin with an action scene. The original opening featured a dark and moody scene depicting Two-Face's escape from Arkham. It then transitioned to Nygma's failed proposition to Bruce Wayne, which lead into the bank heist scene. The first act of the film was heavily restructured in the editing process.
Batman Returns was my first Batman movie. I thought i was the only one who had a weird reaction to Selina's breakdown as a kid. I remember it making me sad.
I think the Batman Returns opening with the buggy going through the sewers was inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean (the ride in Disneyland). That’s Tim Burton for you.
Batman (Tim Burton) Joker : "Have you ever danced with the Devil under pale moon light" Batman Returns Batman : "Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it" Catwoman : "but a kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it" I Get that Schumacher had more memorable dialogue, but Burton's had the more meaningful dialogue, which I'm disappointed no one mentions
Comment thing! I've always felt like the odd man out because I legitimately, unironically enjoyed the Schumacher movies for not being afraid to be campy. It's a guy in a rubber bat suit, fer crying out loud!
I'm glad we're now in an era where people can take all of these movies together as all being weirder--in one way or another--than most current US superhero movies would venture to be, albeit in different directions, rather than consigning two of them to not even being spoken of in the same sentence as the others.
Wow. I've gone 30 years thinking the Schumacher films were the Burton films and that the Burton films were the Schumacher films. I also, oddly, thought the Batman and Robin ones were the older movies despite the opposite making sense in the vague continuity sense. Low key questioning all my childhood memories now. Wait, no, I knew the Michael Keaton movie came first. Did I think Batman Returns was just after the Batman and Robin movies? Yare yare, what even are memories?
i just remember falling asleep when my family and i sat down to watch batman forever on vhs. it was rare id nap during the day. i didnt watch the burton films a lot, they were kind of boring to me too. but they had that 'cool' factor.
Awesome video!! I would love to see some more videos on the live action Batman movies in the future:) I have a real soft spot for Batman & Robin, and admittedly, I've seen that movie at least 10 times, where as I have yet to finish either of the Tim Burton ones 😅 I think you did a fair and excellent job of examining why each film has equal right to exist and has its own merits!
Now i want full review of Batman Returns from you, honestly..because i love that film allot, and i think it's defintely most divisive Batman movie..although, it did got more love after Nolan (over)hype was done..
So I noticed your review of Batman 1943 is 1:55:11 while your Batman and Robin review was only 40 minutes (42 if you count the extended part 2). 1943 is 260 minutes long and 1949 is 264 minutes long. How did you find 73 minutes more of stuff to talk about for the serial that's 4 minutes shorter?
eaaaah Let's get this video to a lot of views in the first hour so that it gets love from youtube Algorithm bless this video which i liked even before watching it because it's that good Seriously, sometimes i end up pissed off because i can't like it again after watching it, fix that youtube Lots of words lots of engagement, yadda yadda
Batman and Rbin is kinda like The Room..so bad and stupid, that is hilarious..and, in some way, more vene product than Batman Forever..Batman Forever is half movie, half toy commercial..half thgis serious identitiy crisis story for Batman/ Bruce Wayne, on other hand, it has the most obnoxious and worst Two face version ever..Batman and Robin is goofy and ridicilous from the begining to the end..only exeption maybe it is subplot with Alfred being deadly ill..i don't honestly think they should even bother referencing Heart of ice saga from BTAS(shockingly, in my opinion, best version of Batman that we will ever get)..it dosen't fitneithr with the toy commercial that is BR, nor does it fit with Anrold version of Frieze..

I mean, at the time Keaton Batman came out, we hadn't seen the backstory that often yet.

I think the goofier Batman films deserve some love
Nah 😂
Maybe in an ironic "get stoned with your buddies for Bad Movie Marathon Night" kind of way, but I agree more or less
I've never seen anyone praise the Schumacher Batman films until now. I should probably watch Batman Forever, I've only seen Batman & Robin.
Batman Forever is pretty decent, but it improves by a lot if you watch the deleted scenes that were going to tie it more concretely to the Burton films and explore why Batman felt the need to kill people.
I've coincidentally been in a bat-mood recently
Edit : Awesome video. Made me want to re-watch Batman Returns lol
I used to watch 1989 Batman and Batman returns so much as a kid that i still know every line. I was so disappointed when Batman and Robin came out.

There's some good Mr. Freeze scenes in B&R. His final monologue to Poison Ivy, for example.
This was fun! If this video does well enough I hope you consider doing something with the Nolan, Snyder, or Reeves Batman films intros too.

No black/white opening? I feel like Pavlov's dog salivating for that black/white Batman opening!

Isn't it supposed to make you feel bad for her?
@@IaMaPh1991 Yeah but something about the way it was shot got to my 4 year self. I don't know how to explain it.

huh, you have batman videos? nice
Batman (Tim Burton)
Joker : "Have you ever danced with the Devil under pale moon light"
Batman Returns

Oh cool, a MistareFusion Batman video
Hi Fusion!
The first Batman movie I watched was Batman Forever.
I had that Batman Forever bat-mobile and bat-wing. I apologize for being part of the problem.
i just remember falling asleep when my family and i sat down to watch batman forever on vhs. it was rare id nap during the day. i didnt watch the burton films a lot, they were kind of boring to me too. but they had that 'cool' factor.

Really? Man you and I are opposites. I have never been able to finish Batman and Robin. But I've seen The Burton movies like 400 times
Now i want full review of Batman Returns from you, honestly..because i love that film allot, and i think it's defintely most divisive Batman movie..although, it did got more love after Nolan (over)hype was done..
What do you like better, Dark Knight or The Batman? I ask because those are widely regarded to be the 2 best Batman movies by far.
I haven’t yet seen The Batman, but I have always loved The Dark Knight.
@@MistareFusion Ya gotta see it. There's a reason it's compared to The Dark Knight.

Just in time for october!
Will you cover the Batman Arkham games specifically by rocksteady?
I've never played them.
love me some Batman content
What do you think of the Batman credit card ?
Never leave the cave without it.
"a BaT cReDiT cArD?!"
Two comments to help the algorithm.
I have the forever batmobile

Well, pretty new! They made their MistareFusion debut in the MMZyu video two months ago. This is their second appearance! :-D

Rock, rock on!
The Dark Knight is the greatest superhero movie of all time
Nah
Nah man, that opinion is right from 2010
Nah he's right it is.
Respectfully disagree.
