Your notes against Riku in the last battke while fighting without Donald and Goofy remind me of when I first discovered that the bosses follow the same rules as the player. In the fight against Lexaeus, both on GBA and console, I noticed he liked using sleights a lot more than other bosses, and his high damage compounded with this aggression made him terrifying. After 5 minutes of dodging and fighting, he was stuck with only two stocked cards and never completed the set for a special attack, so he was down to just wild swinging for the remainder of the match.

So if I'm remembering correctly, the reason slates are gone quicker is actually because in Re:CoM combos always come in 3s. When you use your singular card there's a delay so you have time to continue your combo. Slates cannot be combo'd and are considered a full combo in themselves which is why you can pre-charge 3 cards in a slate. The game has no reason to wait for you to continue your combo cause you're not allowed to.
I bricked at riku 4 as a child TWICE I didn't used to farm out the rooms in my 1st playthrough so I was underleveled fighting him the first time So then I tried creating rooms in destiny islands and farming but since I didn't empty rooms prior to destiny islands I capped out on map cards so eventually every room I recreated I'd empty and for every, arbitrarily saying, 10 heartless in a room, I'd get back 1 Card, and sometimes it would have been a moments reprieve, or calm bounty, so when I got that I'd have to make another room and rinse and repeat, but the problem was, since I was so underleveled, I didn't have enough HP or CP to even fight the heartless efficiently So I cried and stopped playing for like 6 months Then tried a new game and i almost did it again, but I kept losing because Dark Aura was a bitch and I wasn't as good as I thought I was Can't remember how long later into my life it took me But the first time I beat riku I was basically a teen lol
Playing the GBA version, Holo-Marluxia and the Ansem fight at the very end were so ridiculously hard taking me more attempts than any other boss oncluding Riku 4; then you play Re:Chain and find out that being able to move freely in 3 dimensions makes Riku 4 the only really challenging boss. I also one time got on a tirade to my friends about GBA CoM about how hard Ansem was years after I beat the game. My final save file was still there so I actually got the game out to show them my point and then beat him first try. That man took me weeks the first time.
I'm sorry you were stressed for this gem of a video. Please know you brought me and my son alot of laughter and now we're going on our own adventure of a one card run. (Its gonna take a while but we're having a blast)
I had to Google Pluto cards after watching this cause I NEVER have seen them before and was dumbfounded at how you got so many of them. Surprising me, Pluto only comes out when your deck is tiny and is supposed to be how you avoid completely decking out from Premiums and Sleights. Consider that something new I just learned today
I first saw Pluto in Twlight Town and I just assumed he got unlocked there because that was around the time the game started to get stupidly difficult and my deck kept thinning.

The laugh after the Riku 4 battle is of someone who has lost their sanity. I applaud you. Riku and Marluxia makes me wanna pull my damn hair out on regular runs no matter which game of the franchise it is.
I don't even bother with certain enemies or bosses once I have the late-game Sonic Blade, Ragnarok, and Lethal Frame. Once you get Marluxia's card, the last 2 fights against him are basically walking cutscenes. My cheese against Marluxia 2 was as follows: Ragnarok (sleights of 9 work best) spam with Double Sleight against the first phase, Ragnarok spam with Attack Bracer until its effects wear off, then Lethal Frame spam (sleights of 25-27 work best) with Double Sleight (make sure to bring Elixirs and stock them with two 8's or 9's!). Repeat until Marluxia's nonexistence is revoked. 😎
Every video I am blown away by the sheer determination you have to go through with these challenges even when you hit what looks like an impossible hurdle. Another great video!!
at this point i feel like gamechamp intentionally looks for the worst, grindiest, most aggravatingly time-consuming challenge runs that she can find in video game history, especially at the point where she can just casually drop "this one match will take you SEVERAL hours"

So, I've been playing kingdom hearts for a while now, and each of these videos, even if they're challenges help me learn the difficult bosses, so, even if it wasn't on purpose, thank you!
i swear, how is it that these self inflicted challenges always manage to have one of those situations of "this basic game mechanic you have come to rely upon is now removed for just this battle"? and the crazy part is that its always a game mechanic thats more than likely completely overlooked due to its simplicity, compared to how much else you have to work with under normal circumstances. also that Marluxia spin-tech is fucking hilarious.😆
New to the channel, but I cracked up at the string of bleeps at the 21:00 mark. Just wasn't expecting that. The "and quite frankly, goofy" is the perfect cherry-on-top.
The “Days challenge” made me oddly happy. Namely that you can just skip all the cutscenes to get the Chain of Memories bonuses. I actually like 358/2 Days the game, but I do not like the movie version, and those bonuses kinda make you watch the movie version.
I almost spit soda at the part Sora just cusses everybody out before Riku 4 😭😭 was absolutely not ready for that but absolutely not mad. You are the true GOD of Re: Chain of Memories by doing this challenge! Multiple amounts of respect with the dedication, frustration, & making it to the finish. Props with the entertaining commentary.
@@Sylocat so let's recap the order of the games. Kh1-CoM-kh2-days and somewhere after that is rechain of memories. Days is currently only playable on the DS. The days she is talking about is the cutscenes compilation of Days in higher definition for the KH games compilation she is playing. So basically she was doing a big song and dance about having "beaten" watching a series of cutscenes by skipping manually each and every one of them (because watching them unlocks special rewards in ReCoM)
Gamechamp you are completely INSANE to do this challenge!! I now have complete respect for you after seeing the complete absurdity of a challenge you've done for the video. Keep on doing great work, can't imagine what you'll do next
When I heard 1 card deck I knew it would be 0. It's the only possible way as any sleght used would be horrible to have to deal with dodging. I was not expecting the cards of all things to be so difficult. Just shows how tough something can be when you can't use the system. Edit: Wait.... That CARDS were difficult. That's.... Hilarious. Of COURSE cards would be hard in a card game.
Dear God, this whole video just reminded me of the first time I fought Vexan as Riku on the GBA version. We both Slighted our decks down to nothing and it turned into a game of endurance where I had to painstakingly dodge behind him and deal my 3 hit combo, then hold out until I could reload. That one experience I can confidently say is nothing compared to running a one card deck. Holy shit, dude.
I love hearing the organization names said wrong every time kingdom hearts is played also, mad respect for this run. I love this series of games, but I'm not that suicidal to do this run
Quite fitting you got some major use out of Divine Rose in the endgame, considering we now know Lauriam, who is most certainly not Marluxia, also had it apparently
Pictured: Gamechamp doing everything in her power to avoid playing any of the Kingdom Hearts Games between 2 and 3. (No, but seriously, this video was awesome and and extremely impressive).
This reminds me of how I didn't quite understand the game mechanics as a kid and ended up having 1-3 cards at the end of most boss battles due to using sleights all the time. The only time I used single cards was to perform a card break. I distinctly remember beating Marluxia with a random Keyblade card, Cure and Dumbo. Since my combo started with the attack card, the other two never left the deck. Some time later I replayed the game and by then I could understand English better so I finally realized what I was doing wrong. Still one of my favorite GBA games as well as my favorite Kingdom Hearts game.
As someone who really enjoyed the concept of this game but only played through it once with sora because I was so put off by how grindy and difficult the last third of this game was, I personally wouldn't wish this challenge on anyone. Truly an impressive showing here.
Keyless Hearts: Challenge: after completing the tutorial, do not use the Keyblade to do HP damage. Projectiles that aren’t part of the Keyblade’s form are allowed. Attacks that have a melee aspect are allowed so long as the melee part doesn’t deal damage. I’ve 100% KH2 (Roxas as the tutorial) and am working on KH3 Data Bosses (challenge starts once you enter Olympus Colosseum). Edit: the wording of the challenge is specific. Data Axel in KH2 cannot be finished off unless you use the Reaction command that uses a damage-dealing melee combo. However, if you get Axel down to 1 HP before using the Reaction, he won’t take any damage.
Holy maccaroni :O What a run, what amount of skill and especially patience. Training so hard for all of this, finding all these patterns is just... im speechless! Really great job and well down. Small caviat :P Im dying every time you pronounce Larxenes, Vexens or Marluxias name the way you do xD

God this was one of the best VG Myths episodes in a long time. I don't even play Kingdom Hearts - I feel like I just watched someone beat a Yu-Gi-Oh x Dark Souls game that fell into a Disney rubberhose factory using only a stick - absolutely mental Champ
(Oh and Marluxia dance alone was one of the best things on this channel so far, glorious)
One of my favorite things to come from VG myths, is that it makes you use obscure strategies that you wouldn't have thought of before.
I love the 'evil villainess' laugh into the 'relieved incoherent babbling laugh' she does after beating Riku 😂
Evil villainous? I think you mean "bastard got what he deserves, and she knows it"
And this is how gamechamp became the Joker
@@theguythatasked6400ah nah, she’s still working on that. Not even halfway through that arc yet.
In all the years I’ve watched Game champ, i’ve personally only ever seen her get angry enough to say a certain swear word once, and that was during the stream she finished up rockman 2 hitless. If anything breaks her, it will be that franchise.
@@megatennepster3833 Villainess, not Villainous-
@@morallygary9098hm. Touché!
Riku 4 is giving me war flashbacks from playing the GBA version as a kid. Definitely the most scarring fight of the entire game.
I remember that whoever designed dark aura deserves to be hit by it
A deleted my whole save file just so i could reinvest my levels into hp. Needless to say i hate this fight with a passion
@@triforceofcourage100 I remember I was hyped to play as Riku just so I could finally use Dark Aura myself
I bricked at riku 4 as a child TWICE
I didn't used to farm out the rooms in my 1st playthrough so I was underleveled fighting him the first time
So then I tried creating rooms in destiny islands and farming but since I didn't empty rooms prior to destiny islands I capped out on map cards so eventually every room I recreated I'd empty and for every, arbitrarily saying, 10 heartless in a room, I'd get back 1 Card, and sometimes it would have been a moments reprieve, or calm bounty, so when I got that I'd have to make another room and rinse and repeat, but the problem was, since I was so underleveled, I didn't have enough HP or CP to even fight the heartless efficiently
So I cried and stopped playing for like 6 months
Then tried a new game and i almost did it again, but I kept losing because Dark Aura was a bitch and I wasn't as good as I thought I was
Can't remember how long later into my life it took me But the first time I beat riku I was basically a teen lol
Hope your run is going well!
It was needed, back in GBA I had to be very conservative with my cloud card sleights during matches cause they were a pain to buy.
I first saw Pluto in Twlight Town and I just assumed he got unlocked there because that was around the time the game started to get stupidly difficult and my deck kept thinning.
Didn’t even know he was in the game till i awoke this video
I am now convinced that Gamechamp is clinically insane
She's insane for someone who proclaims they're bad at video games. 😆 I'm just actually bad. I can't even beat Xemnas in KH1FM even with the Genie cheese.
I know from your twitter posts this was a pain, i look forward to seeing this and more quality content, and thank you for putting yourself through such pain for it
EDIT: Having watched this now omg, I'm not even fully through and my comment was literally not even close to the pain you went through geez. I really hope you can get a good rest because I'm worried for your health after this-
The laugh after the Riku 4 battle is of someone who has lost their sanity.
The 'circle embrace' nearly made me hack up a lung. Good stuff.

I'm hypocritically frustrated because I also do this but hate that she does.

Only recently got introduced to this channel and you make a KH video just as I'm playing through and trying to 100% all of the KH games... noice. (For those of you who are curious, I've beaten KH1, COM, 2, 3 and Remind 100%, working on BBS, all I've gotta do is complete the journal with Aqua. I haven't even fully played through DDD's story yet)
Full 100% for ReCoM was SO annoying, collecting every single card is super annoying (especially when on the hardest difficulty)
@@jayfeatherfan12312 Yeah, you're telling me... I basically had it done by the time I had Sora at level 99 tho but with Riku...
That crying/laughing she's doing after the Riku battle is how I felt beating the game with a normal deck 😅😅😢
I think using an eldritch ritual to revive a corpse is the most insane strategy required in Gamechamp history.......
so far that is
Nah, that’s just an average Tuesday.
It's more sane than actually attempting larxsieine 2 with 1 card
New to the channel, but I cracked up at the string of bleeps at the 21:00 mark. Just wasn't expecting that.
The "and quite frankly, goofy" is the perfect cherry-on-top.
The “Days challenge” made me oddly happy. Namely that you can just skip all the cutscenes to get the Chain of Memories bonuses. I actually like 358/2 Days the game, but I do not like the movie version, and those bonuses kinda make you watch the movie version.
I think this is one of your best videos so far. It's impressive the lengths you went to keep this challenge going!!
That run was absolutely insane. You're an insane person. Mad respect.
I love the "ohhhh noooooo" whenever there's something that affects your decks
I almost spit soda at the part Sora just cusses everybody out before Riku 4 😭😭 was absolutely not ready for that but absolutely not mad. You're amazing for this crazy run, never in a million years would I think to do something so ludicrously sanity crushing. This is why I always watch this channel for challenges. 💜
I love how the run is explained like we're actually gonna do it.
Would you say that this is among the top 5 hardest challenges you've ever done?
The Marluxia dance was amazing 😂
The Ballroom Dance was not what I was expecting today. My lungs hurt from laughing.
god you can hear the struggle she went through just to defeat Riku 4 as she laughs in relief, kudos to those that watched it live
5:26 I remember when I played this game for the first time and didn’t understand how it worked so I just spammed the triple card and ended up with a few cards and found this battle really difficult.
You are the true GOD of Re: Chain of Memories by doing this challenge! Multiple amounts of respect with the dedication, frustration, & making it to the finish. Props with the entertaining commentary.
OMG the days joke combo at 17:30 is absolutely hilarious
For those who haven't played either game, what was that about?
I am genuinely impressed that you were able to avoid Marluxia's Doom sleight. I thought for sure that was going to be a run killer
Your videos always appear at the most unexpected times for me, and they're always a treat.
I hope 2023 is a good year for you!
This seems like the truest test of patience and discipline
27:50 The sound of a complete sane person after a „slightly“ above average hard boss fight. You rock!
I love hearing the organization names said wrong every time kingdom hearts is played
also, mad respect for this run. I love this series of games, but I'm not that suicidal to do this run
@TMVGemini24 (Pee) It's a running joke.
Quite fitting you got some major use out of Divine Rose in the endgame, considering we now know Lauriam, who is most certainly not Marluxia, also had it apparently
"And star ball room dancing!"
I laughed way too hard at this
21:00 i haven't laughed out loud at a youtube video this hard in so long and the "quite frankly, silly." fckng ENDED me
29:41 this is by far the funniest kingdom hearts related anything I have ever had the pleasure to witness
This video is amazing, I feel like I know these bosses so much more. That ball room dancing with Marluxia was literally jaw dropping
Pictured: Gamechamp doing everything in her power to avoid playing any of the Kingdom Hearts Games between 2 and 3. (No, but seriously, this video was awesome and and extremely impressive).
Rest in Peace Gamechamp's Tendons. It wasn't worth it, but it is still impressive.
nice pfp
This reminds me of how I didn't quite understand the game mechanics as a kid and ended up having 1-3 cards at the end of most boss battles due to using sleights all the time. The only time I used single cards was to perform a card break. I distinctly remember beating Marluxia with a random Keyblade card, Cure and Dumbo. Since my combo started with the attack card, the other two never left the deck. Some time later I replayed the game and by then I could understand English better so I finally realized what I was doing wrong. Still one of my favorite GBA games as well as my favorite Kingdom Hearts game.
Keyblade a cure and a Dumbo sounds very funny when said outloud.
“And quite frankly, very silly”
Very underrated line.

Keyless Hearts:
Challenge: after completing the tutorial, do not use the Keyblade to do HP damage.
