Canadian Officer: You are without a doubt the worst invaders I've ever heard of.
The Fenians: But you have heard of us.
Haha!
No mention of the Fenian Navy and Their Holland Boat.
As an American of Irish descent I can confirm that most major operations in my life are both hastily organized and poorly executed with extremely overly ambitious goals.
That’s funny.
I never knew my bosses were Irish!
As i Aussie of Irish descent i love life and enjoy the drink matey. Slainte.😜
😅 ...... so good!
That is a great comment!...... made me LOL.
The best history is living history.
I agree.
There is not one channel coming close to this unique gem 👏🏽
That is very kind.
the amount of effort that you put into the channel shows sir and I thank you for it. "tip of the cap"
Quailty channel, always learning something new, Rob's subs should be far higher..
Very kind!
As a Texan transplant to Northern Vermont I find this series fascinating! 40 minute drive would would put me in to Franklin.
Also kinda funny how little the locals know anything about this period.
Nice!
Marvelous, thank you. Quite apart from the excellent content, this was the best map portrayal I have ever seen--I can't believe how clear the action was shown by this.
Glad it was to your liking! The team was instrumental!
Rob brother, long-time fan from Kentucky in the States here. Just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing informative videos over the years. Watching both you and some old episodes of Sharpe (my dad was a fan when it came on) has taught me a lot about the militaria of England and Canada. You sir should be a military history teacher we need more intuitive people like you teaching the future generations..
Very kind. Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
@britishmuzzleloaders Cheers brother !
Looking forward to Part 3.........and kinda hoping it wont be a year from now 🙂
No.... it won't.
Excellent, now that the scene has been set, “Stand To!”
Indeed... It was going to be one video but in true BML fashion, things went into the 2 hour realm... so Part Three it is!
The fly throughs of the terrain are excellent and add greatly to the explanations.
Glad to hear. They took forever to get right!.... 😀
I really learn so much about our joint history from you. I for one will never forget how much England owes Canada especially in both world wars
And England kept selling out Canada.
Cheers!
@@ndenise3460How's that?
British Muzzle Loaders and the Battle of the Clear Cut.
That video was published a long time ago... 😀.... "The 1800 Baker Rifle: The Action of El Bosque Perdido"
Movies with weapons that we like :
Zulu Dawn, Zulu, Frontier, The Last of the Mohicans, The Patriot, Turn: Washington's Spies, Glory, Gettysburg, Free State of Jones, Django Unchained, Revolution ( 1985 ), Barry Lyndon, Outlander, etc etc etc...
Indeed!
@@britishmuzzleloaders Ah I forgot, Quigley Down Under, with my Sharps. lol, Ripper Street and its Whitworth
The Professor is at it again!. Rob never disappoints. Engrossing lessons as usual. Thank you.
Very kind.
Thanks Rob! I’m 3 hours from Franklin Vermont. I may very well visit!
Indeed you should!
only seventeen more part to go, boys!
Stop being sensational... there's only four...
@@britishmuzzleloaders Haha! I was actually kind of hoping for seventeen.
Fantastic history presentation Rob. Very detailed & even-handed account and I look forward to Part 3.
It’s out now! Hope you enjoy it!
A fascinating account of a little known (at least in the UK) part of history. Keep it up.
Cheers!
Splendid portrayal of these events, as usual. The visuals and depiction of the battleground are top notch, and most effective in conveying the situation as it unfolded. Thanks again for your efforts.
Thank you. Happy to hear things were to your liking!
As a Canadian of Irish catholic descent this is a very nice addition to all the Irish/Canadian history classes I was able to take as electives for my bachelor's. Nice to have an individual's perspective to add to the maps and dates.
Cheers.
Your videos are good! I wish you'd do a video on the Pig War of 1859 and the San Jaun Islands border dispute, and the Royal Marine garrison that remained there until the dispute was settled in the 1870s. A hothead named Capt. Pickett was there, as well as an Army engineer who'd later write the book Robert's Rules of Order.
🙂
As the Channel is an Historical Shooting channel, and there really wasn't any shooting in the Pig War,.... except for the er,... pig,..... I can't say that it's on the top of my list..... sorry...
@britishmuzzleloaders Yeah, you are right! 😆
But you gotta admit, the Pig War of 1859 is an interesting topic of discussion! And the San Jaun islands should be a quick drive for you if you live in B.C.
I suspect the San Jaun island U.S. garrison circa 1861-1865 were quite happy with their assignment and the Royal Marienes too! I'm told they held wild parties, with female company.
🙂
Another top video, a lot of effort, always goes into productions.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it... Part 3 out soon!
Brilliant presentation as always!
Thank you!
Fascinating stuff! We never learn this history unless we go out of our way to find it, or in advanced Academia aside from Historical Societies, thanks so much for putting out these phenomenal videos bud-- cheers!!!!
You are most welcome!
fantastic series, I cant wait for part 3
It'll be along much quicker...!
Always learn something, thank you!
Cheers!
Brilliant. Have you covered the battle of Ridgeway 1866 previously?
I have not.... A topic for the future, Nic!
Had to go back and rewatch part 1 because I had forgotten it. I enjoyed both parts (again in the case of pt 1) 👍👍👍
Great!
A long day of work made better with a new video by Rob! Thank you sir!
Cheers!
Good to have you back!
Cheers!
Nice work on the landscape
Thanks. I worked all day to get the mountains just right..
@@britishmuzzleloaders Heavy Work!
@@britishmuzzleloaders But seriously. the 3D tour was among the best battlefield illustrations I've seen in a documentary. Great tie-ins with historical photos to understand the more open ranges of the day.
The outlooks of the Canuks was forever shook!
Important moment in our history...
The imagery you provide helps me understand what was happening like no other video has. I appreiciate it greatly, it's often very hard to picture it all when you just see arrow-maps and confusing descriptions that could be applied anywhere
Great to hear! Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video!
Cheers!
I love all your content. Happy to be here early! Your channel sir should get more attention. Videos like the battle of Inkerman are a master piece!
Thank you! Pass the word!
A great History program, Thank You.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, a very interesting mini-series.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Glad to see the second video in the series
And there will be a third...
@@britishmuzzleloaders great, thanks for making videos and posting them on UA-cam
Love the uniforms and gear. Great content too.
Cheers!
A most interesting video. Thank you
Cheers!
Man, faboulous uniform. Fits your ms+ustache tho.
Cheers!
Always a pleasure to learn the history of Canuckistan from this moustachioed gentleman.
Soviet canuckistan, if you please.
Cheers!
35:04 the lad on the left of the photograph looks so young
Same as every war.....
Great work! Thank you for this!
You are most welcome!
They “Duffel Cut” the rifles to disguise them. Great historical content, well researched and the contributing experts added valuable detail and colour to the presentation. The Fenian raids did nothing to advance Irish independence, however, the sense of vulnerability and a spark of Canadian nationalism likely hastened the move toward confederation.
Yes, if you take the 1866 Raids by themselves... by 1870, of course, Canada was a country...
I cam for the rifle, I stayed for the history
Great!
Thank you!
looking sharp as usual / you sure cover all the bases when you do these /
I try.... Cheers!
Bravo!
Thank you!
Hello, It would be nice to see a segment dealing with the Northwest Rebellion in 1885.
Sorry that the video wasn't to your liking. The NW Rebellion is a topic for the future.
3 Years later... and now for part 3.
Sure.
The local Sasquatch are wondering what the red guy is up to. 😂
Haha!
So much for security
yup.
Is your snider also from Nepal. It has the same lock as mine.
It is not. It's a British example.
What kind of training would the Fenians have had? Do we know?
In 1870?..... very little-to-none..... Some of the leadership were vetrans of the American Civil War, but the men were not... See Part Three for more!
I've had my eye on a Snider but have been putting it off as a "Nice to have" not a "Need to have." Probably shouldn't have watched this video.....
Its a need to have. You must get one. You know you need one.
@@tim5cad203 It's a nice one too. Mk II, intact, great shape, strong rifling, tight lock.
@@Mis-AdventureCH I got one, untouched from IMA that only had maybe 100 rounds through it. 10 hours worth of work and it looks mint. The rifling is sharp and everything is solid.
Happy to be of service.
Is the Snider actually as poor as I’ve heard? or is it just overshadowed by the Martini-Henry.
No... it was not. It's bullet was actually hugely destructive, having a hollow point.
@@britishmuzzleloaders interesting. why was it replaced then?
@@JoshuaSymon-sv7bb Because it was inferior in other ways.. The Martini was better ballistically, and in handling, the Martini was hard to beat...
End of Part-Deux??? 0~o oh you tease you. >~
The next one will be along in a much more timely fashion!
@@britishmuzzleloaders good to hear, now off to your border duties Pvt Mackenzie... 0~o
Testing
?
@@britishmuzzleloaders Sorry, I seem to have had some comments suggesting people go to Part One disappear and I was literally testing to see if I could even leave a comment at all.
It seems I can leave comments still, so why two comments saying we needed to give Part One more love went into the Ether shall probably remain a mystery.
Anyhoo, thanks for the link to Part One. I missed it myself as I was ill at the time and never got around to checking my backlog of subscription videos.
@@genericpersonx333 Weird.... Thanks for trying. I don't know what has happened. Sometimes if there is a link included in a comment it is held for review... but I see nothing like that... Glad you got to Part One!
Canada has never been so well served.
By the Militia and Red Sashes?
Does anyone know were to find videos on Fenian weapons
Have you searched for such?
@britishmuzzleloaders yea I couldn’t find any I new there were some at some point
@@ZacharyBurgard The (American) NRA did one about the Needham, I think...
@britishmuzzleloaders thanks
I have a Ballard
Nice!
3 Americans, 2 Canadian, and a Brit. Who signed with the Americans for trade co n cessions
Haha!
The Irish were told to stop even with their successes and their support withdrawn
They were diminishingly effective, for sure.

Great!
Sadly, another doomed, romantic, and very very brave action intended to free "poor old Granuaile".
They tried....
The Alaska border dispute among other things. Any time the UK has been involved in Canadian affairs they have sold us out for their own interests
