- Today, we are going to compare the Wyze Cam V3 to the Eufy indoor camera. Eufy initially released 2K versions and also a regular and a pan and tilt versions. They did release a 1080P version lately and which I will also add to this comparison video. So, we are hitting 2 birds with one stone on this one. You will see the comparison as to video and audio quality between the Wyze Cam V3 and Eufy's 2K indoor camera but you will also see if there are any difference on Eufy's 1080p compared to their 2K version and see if the additional $10 dollars justifies buying the 2K version.

Audio on eufy seems far superior!
Both can be disarmed by cut off the power. It might be a good idea to have a build-in battery.

At 10:36, this is where both of Eufy's 2k and 1080p indoor cameras took the win over Wyze.
You had another video showing the Eufy indoor cam behind glass window and the notification speed was around 10sec. The delay here is around 2 secs. Does it take longer for notification to show when camera is behind glass? Excellent review btw, thank you.
I know it doesn't have the color (passive) starlight sensor, but how does the Eufy night vision compare outdoors where you don't have nearby walls to bounce IR light?

Great comparison! Love the Wyze v3 for the starlight sensor. I've done a number of time lapse videos of the night skies, both with the clouds and with the stars. And the fact that it is designed for outdoor use means I don't have to figure out how to shield it. One other thing (Wyze v3 vs. the outdoor cam - v3 is always generating internal heat, so the lens doesn't fog or frost up like the outdoor cam does in the cold) I will say the Eufy audio sounds much better than the Wyze. Now if Wyze increased the size of their sensor, they'd really have something :)
So I’m looking an affordable baby cam. Which would you suggest out of these? Need to be able to view from work. I was looking at the Nooie Baby Monitor but you can’t view live feed when if phone is not connected to the same wifi (say I’m at work). Any advise is welcome 🙏

@lifehackster - At time stamp 3:41 with the wyze 3v camera, your body seems blurred however the rest of the room is quite clear, and with blinds open or with lights on it seems much clearer, is this a problem with all wyze v3 cameras or just your device?

Have you noticed that the v3 doesn't allow 2 way talk through Alexa, and when viewed through Alexa, there is a 5-10 second lag?

On the Wyze 3 is there no way to turn off AI motion detection while keeping Subscription plus on? So that you can get quicker notification but not have the 5 minute cooldown?

I'm not sure about ordering Wyze Cams from Sweden.. but if you do want streaming, the best way is to get an NVR or DVR system and have a dedicated monitor plugged in to the NVR.

Thanks LH, great review. After one months watching all your excellent video, I moved from Arlo ( 5 cameras ) to Eufy with : 5 EufyCam 2k PT ( 1 outdoor, under patio ), 3 EufyCam 2 Pro with Base 2. So far so good, 2 K picture day and night, good audio, AI, fast detection and notification, no cool down time, 24/7 recording, 128 GB SD card, NO SUBSCRIPTION. Very Happy ! I'm waiting new Eufy 2K PT version outdoor ( battery ? ). I subscribed your channel. Happy Thanksgiving.

Since the WYZE Cam V3 uses a pixel-based sensor (and not PIR), will it detect motion moving *straight* at it ... as opposed to PIR cameras which detect movement *across* the plane of the sensor?
Yes.. it will detect any minute movement depending on the sensitivity.

I was using a Wyze V1 camera pointed out my front window for person detection and it worked great. After Wyze announced a fee for person detection, I switched to the Eufy Indoor 2K. To date, Eufy has not picked up a single person detection alert. I think the issue is the glass window because if I use Eufy inside the house (not through glass), it picks up person detection just fine.
Just an FYI for someone thinking of using the Eufy 2K Indoor cam pointing out a glass window. I'm not sure if the Eufy can be remedied for glass as my understanding is it uses PIR sensor for motion rather than pixel analysis.
I've had my Eufy 2K indoor cams pointed out windows and I receive alerts and notifications for every single instance of anyone out in the yard. It works great for me. Be sure to correctly set the notification settings, that may be why you aren't getting notified.

Hello, is there a way to monitor/view multiple wyze cam on MAC book at the same time.
I know there are some programs that will do that but I haven't personally tested it...
on my desktop i use an android emulator and use the tinycam app.

Is there a one click off/on when you come home or leave for the person detection so you don't get alert when you come home?
There is the bell icon or the snooze option on both brand’s apps and eufy has geofencing that you can use.

It works just make sure you turn off the night vision.

Another fantastic comparison video. I preferred the smoothness of the wyze camera. The Eufy seemed a little choppy when you were moving. The audio on the Eufy was more impressive, but how often will someone use the audio? The fact that the wyze can be used outdoors gives it an advantage. BTW- I did notice you were working on Thanksgiving! Hope you had time to enjoy some good turkey with pancit!

I chose the Eufy local storage ecosystem over Wyze, which really requires a subscription now vs. when I got one of their first cameras. Eufy sure has better recorded audio in your testing. Setting up Eufy to work with my Asus XT8 mesh router was a real pain, and Eufy's email support was clueless. My old Wyze camera was also unreliable on my upgraded WiFi and assume it didn't like WiFi 6 either. I'm using a 2K IndoorCam under a sheltered outside front porch since Eufy's 2K wired outdoor cameras are $100.

@@LifeHackster awesome! Thanks for the videos! I just decided to buy to regular Eufy 2k cameras (baby monitors) and the Eufy Wired 2k Doorbell. I am excited! I currently have some low-end LaView brand wifi cameras for my baby monitors and they always freeze up or the app crashes. And I currently have a Skybell Trim Plus doorbell that I want to replace because it is terrible with motion detection. It'll alert with every little thing even kn the lowest settings. Also the app always says my Skybell is offline so it takes a minute to even open a notification or live view. And I am on 400mbs speed internet. Your videos had me on the fence between the Wyze v3 cameras but I hate that their doorbell hasn't been released yet. So I can't say that it'll be better then my Skybell. I couldn't pass up the deals on Cyber Monday. I got the Eufy Wired 2k for $109 And the 2 2k indoor cameras for $27 each.

Nice work, but you missed an important distinction between the Wyze V3 and the Eufy Indoor cams by failing to show the video they capture in a very-low-light situation with night mode disabled - that is, no infrared, either emitting or detecting… just plain old daytime color mode. If you did this comparison, you would find that the Wyze V3's low-light sensitivity is *SO* good that the IR modes are practically unneeded. The Eufy cams are also surprisingly good in low light with all IR disabled, but their minimum-ambient-light threshold is higher than the Wyze - in other words, down to a certain darkness level, the Eufy and the Wyze V3 perform similarly, but the Wyze V3 can handle lighting even dimmer than that, whereas the Eufys cannot. However, that threshold level is low enough that the Eufys will work fine in no-IR mode in many cases where there's a source of ambient light in the area, such as a streetlight.
Have any of your reviews focused solely on systems that offer free storage solutions, however limited in duration, whether local or cloud based, as I for one am not interested in any system that tries to con you into a subscription based model? It's fine for those who like to pay subscriptions, but what's on offer if you do not, in 2021?

I'm surprised that in your comprehensive review you didn't mention Wyze's low quality audio sound pickup. Very muffled and annoying to listen to. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the weather resistance limitation. It was a deal-changer for me!
Hi lifehackster. I just tested my eufy 2k pan and tilt camera vs the wyze pan and tilt and the difference in image quality is night and day! Im not sure why in your tests, you can hardly see the difference between 1080p and 2k. I just ordered 8 pcs of the eufy 1080p pan and tilts. Looks like im returning them

It's crazy seeing how the price on the Wyze Cam V3 jumped to $36 for just the cam.

For the price the Wyze is great. Mine picks up motion 60 yards away and noise from that distance. I have to turn it down to the lowest selections. It is so sensitive that it can pick up a shadow!!

I'll go with the Eufy just the reliability of the app... With the Wyze app..sometimes in the past the cameras will be unresponsive, I need to reboot some of them etc.. but with the Eufy, it is responsive everytime... except when their server went down.. which happened only twice since I have been using them...

All but 2 of my Wyze cams are in a box now not being used. I'll probably give them to a friend or something but right now, I'm all Eufy 2k's indoors and out and the experience is much better and no subscription needed.
Just when I thought I’d narrowed my choice to Wyze v3. While the audio is clearly better on Eufy, that starlight sensor on the Wyze v3 is very good.
I clearly have more research to do.
@@speedlever I noticed that too, but to be honest an intruder will rarely try to talk trough the cams lol for me the real deal breaker is the night video quality, night is the most vulnerable and crucial time for me, on that area wyze v3 is the true king

FYI, the Wyze Cam Google streaming issue has been figured out. Basically, the first time you ask it to stream a cam (called a cold start) google is marking the audio as 24 hours long and stalling out. If you instead ask google to stream it, stop google, then ask again within a few minutes, it's no longer a cold start, it's a warm start and the Wyze cam will now display reliably. Google is just spazzing out on it on cold start for some reason. Wyze said they are considering stopping audio until they resolve it (then it shows the first time), or possibly leaving it as warm start only until they fix it.

Thanks for that! I have a Wyze v2 and a Eufy 2k side by side in my garage, and the Eufy is completely dark beyond 1 ft. I thought perhaps the Wyze was somehow interfering with the Eufy, but your video showed me that this couldn't be the reason. I'm thinking it must be defective after watching your video. I also have a Wyze and Eufy Pan cams, outdoors, encased in a plastic jar. The Eufy handles glare better, but otherwise not much difference.
The Eufy might not have its Night Vision turned ON.. or have an issue with the camera itself.
After watching the video, the fact that the Eufy cams support RTSP is a *BIG* selling point for me. That makes them more universally compatible in just about any setup VS the Wyze, IMHO. Also, the 2K seemed to have the best audio by far and a better enough video quality to justify the $40 price bump over the V3.
RTSP will be added to the V3 eventually...

Interesting. I never looked at the resolution of my 2ks before. Effective marketing - they are only 20% higher res.

IMO the 15 FPS on the Eufy is a deal breaker. I can see a lot of motion blur compare to the V3. I like higher frame rates rather than higher resolution, especially if the resolution is already 1080p. If the Eufy had 20 FPS, there would be no question that is the superior cam for video quality.

yeah, you're the first comment mentioning this and I thought I was the only one that was experiencing the blur. The motion blur on the EUFY's look terrible. I can make out his face at 25ft on the Wyze and when he's walking but really can't on both EUFYs. Overall picture quality is clearer on the EUFY on the static stuff but when he's far away or walking, there's so much blur and ghosting. I have the WYZE v2 and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that really haven't had any problems with it and since I was an early adopter, I get the free Plus membership. I only have 2 of them (so switching wouldn't be a big deal) and was thinking of moving to EUFY because it seems everyone has. But now I'm not sure if I can get over the blurring. I'd hate to have a burglar in my house and not have a clear pic of his face. More than likely, as in the video, my blinds would be closed and the blurring would be more apparent.

Great videos! I picked up a Wyze V3 a few days ago and have it behind a double panned glass window. Night time recording is compromised due to reflections (camera is at an angle to cover the front door). What I mean by this is that I get recordings and alerts of internal movements because of reflections in the glass. No blinds or window covering, so adding blinds should help this issue at night.
However, I am not very happy with the notification delay with the Wyze V3. It might come within 60 seconds, or it could be 10 minutes later. I’ve left the house to go to the store and get an alert in the store of the camera picking up the motion of me leaving some minutes earlier.
I’m considering picking up a Eufy 2k to try out, but have read other reviews that have caught the Eufy phoning home to a Chinese server. That doesn’t give me much comfort either.
I’ve considered a doorbell camera but my current doorbell is mounted on a 1 inch wide surface of the front door surround and without making some type of custom mount, I’m not aware of any doorbell camera that will fit there.
I’ve not noticed any of your tests that report on security of these cams as regards hidden reporting to foreign servers. Is this of concern to you? I’m not sure if there are any options that don’t do this, but Eufy is the only one I’ve seen reported to do so.
Ah, both Wyze and Eufy are more than happy to give your data to the CCP and other international intelligence.
I'd say it's a wash.
Otherwise, Eufy's 1080p indoor cam's value proposition is very good. Zero second cooldown after a motion-detected recording, fast motion alerts, 24/7 continuous live recording, and better audio clarity than the 2k variant.
I have 7 V3s and notifications are less then 2 seconds person only and I have the slowest WiFi spectrum has to offer....only the outdoor battery camera takes about 45 seconds and that camera blows.... V3 is the way to go.

Over the past year my V3 and also a cam pan v2 I picked up are pretty consistent with 20 second delays on the alerts. Apparently that’s due to Wyze losing their license to use XnorAI on cam AI when Apple bought them. So Wyze had to move the detection algorithm to the cloud inducing the delay.

Wish I knew your secret. I have symmetric gb internet and it doesn’t matter if I’m on wifi or mobile data. Still at least a 20 second delay in the alerts.

I was going to pick up a pair of inexpensive wyze indoor cameras until seeing the Eufy. Think indoor the quality is better. Wyze has a good night vision.

Wyze Starlight sensor makes it worth it over Eufy! Night time without IR is amazing on Wyze, which wasn't shown in this review. Also, most cameras are comparible in daylight, it's the night time that matters and when theft occures
Starlight sensor in an indoor setup is not really effective. Inside the house there are only 2 situations...either somebody will turn the light ON or OFF (with flashlights) on either situations, more than likely both cameras will be in night vision black and white mode even the Wyze. The only effective use of a starlight sensor is for outside which I've shown in my other videos when there is some ambient light. Also, remember even when outside with a starlight sensor, more than likely the footage of a moving object will be blurry.
Kinda wild that the Eufy has decreased in price. The Wyze has increased.

Wyze keeps sending their cam 3 to youtubers for promotion and yet they postponed actual shipment to end users twice already. Lets hope they will actually sell them and its not a scam to collect as much money with preorders just before bankruptcy.

Framerate on the Eufy seems a lot worse. Plus you are forced to keep it into 1080 with HomeKit, so might as well buy the Wyze with better night, and better framerate if you don't care about homekit. Audio is the only thing going about the Eufy. Eufy also seems less colorful than the Wyze, but a bit sharper with some pixelation going on around motion. Wyze is a little more blurry but seems more consistent.
I bought both to compare, and had the same results as you camera too. I can see why others would choose Eufy over the Wyze - but framerate matters to me when I'm monitoring my birds breathing for one with health issues. Thanks for the comparison!
The big problem at now with Eufy 2k is the ridiculous way to download the video from continuos recording, if you want to dowload 1 hour of the video yo have to record one hour in real life in your smaprtphone from de app, what about if you need 24 hrs ? imposible... :/ Because you can't directly backup de video from the microsd card to your pc.

Another comparison of Eufy HD and 2K and I just don't see the advantage to me the Cam2, Cam 2c and indoor HD have same if not better picture quality day and night . When you see 2K you automatically think better quality and this certainly isn't the case and Eufy need to see this and address it
It is their compression..they need to change it or increase the bitrate..
I have had conversations with them and they won't change it and I can agree a little on there reasoning buy feel they spinning people who want 2k
High Life hackster, did you know that video streams can be hacked by hackers ??? Please also do a video on video stream security or also ask these companies themselves what their security is like. i.e. is the stream encrypted ?? Are the videos encrypted on their servers when uploaded etc etc
Wyze is encrypted on their cloud and I know Eufy is both encrypted cloud and on the local memory.
@@LifeHackster I had to turn off WiFi 6 to get Eufy cams to work, so while their data is encrypted, they force me to use a less secure WiFi mode for everything else.
I think it's funny that deep down the lady sitting there is trying to fathom how your making a living by doing this. But damn dude.. You give all the info needed just by repetitive comparison and all the specs of each device. I tip my hat to you sir.
Man! Wyze just came out with a Home Monitoring System. Keypad, door and window sensors, motion detectors and a Wyze Sense Hub. Leak and temperature sensors will be added later. With their low prices, they're going to kill the competition!

Anyone else Eufy 2k indoor cam video quality not that good . My vid quality is nowhere near as good as the quality of LifeHacksters

What kind of data rates are you getting? Are you comparing live view or actual recorded clips?
