This is a great series! Thanks for posting this. I'm looking to get the required tooling to install 993RS seats and valves in 911SC and Carrera 3.2 heads - would you mind sharing your source for metric indexable cutters and seats? Or do you go with whatever 1/16" increment is closest to a given metric valve size? Thanks again!!
Jonny, We use standard cutters as metric ones are just a little tough to come by here. In the end it does not matter because we order the valve seats in what ever ID and OD that we need. The cutters we buy from Goodson and the seats come from Wholesale Engine supply, Not sure if the sell to the public though.
@@klassikats Thanks! I buy from Goodson often, I figured as much with metric. I'll look into wholesale engine supply but I know there are others. All the best! PS - Good luck with your new venture, I was a happy customer at Partsklassik!
Have you ever used a weld bead to remove a set? I've heard people suggest it, but I would be worried about the amount of heat you are pouring into the head.
Hi Jason, Running a weld bead on the inside diameter of the seat will shrink it, and the seat can be removed when cold. This is not the method I use, I am happy with cutting using a hardened end mill. Thanks for watching. Klassik ATS
I’ve tried welding some seats. It’s a bit messy and seats can be made of what ever material so the welds are shit. But yeah it works. I like the machining. Nice and clean.
Awesome work
Thanks a lot 😊
