Walking in the Rain in Manhattan, NYC (Binaural City Sounds) 4k Rain Ambience

- Evening walk in Midtown New York City in the rain. This will probably be my last rain walking video in New York for a while as I'm back in Washington DC to prepare for my trip to Japan and Iceland. But until then, please enjoy the sounds of natural rainfall and city ambience, Please be warned that the video contains sounds of loud horns, traffic and sirens. Depending who you are you might find relaxing, but I'm aware that some hate it. Either way, I hope you enjoy! :)

Its crazy to think how many lives we've seen just in a couple hours. So many people with different faces, places and stories, seen through one lens. So many unheard stories, already written. Videos like these make me think about what lives I could've lived and the ones I haven't seen. Its honestly a cool thing to ponder about life.
We all will forget about each of those persons lives. You will forget about this comment and i will forget about your comment. It's honestly depressing how 99.999999% of the population doesn't care about you.
I always think the same thing
I commented something similar 3 years ago. Hi there, nice to meet you! 🤝
There is actually a word to describe the feeling that you have: sonder. You can look it up in the dictionary of obscure sorrows. I know this feeling well.

So many people with so many stories that you’ll never hear because you’ll never meet, and you’ve seen them and they don’t even know you exist. Amazing...
Edit: I didn’t think so many people thought things like this. Wow! All love to everyone
Too many people to meet
@@cathy-pz2to is it possible to meet every single person on this earth in your life time?
Wra1th _cs through the internet i think you can. But person to person. I don’t think you will ever get that chance.
@@wrx1th873 Mission impossible men
Wra1th _cs there are 7.53 billion people on Earth as of the last census (2017). The average human life expectancy is 79. 79 x 365 = 28,835 days in your life. So, 7.53 billion / 28,835 = 261,141. You would have to meet 261,141 people every single day of your life in order to meet every person on Earth (around that).

New York is such a great place. I struggle with anxiety and I haven't really traveled that much. Until last year, february 2020 I went half way across the globe from Norway to New York.
I hadn't even been on a plane before that, even though I was 25. But point being, at no time during my stay there did I feel a single pinch of anxiety. I think I was just in awe of the sheer size of the place, there was so much to see and do.
I'm glad I got to do that trip and get back just before covid took over the world.
Are you a Norwegian?
So you have ANXIETY and were EXCITED TO SEE AND DO EVERYTHING? Newsflash my love: you dont have anxiety at all. Pls see someone new for a fresh diagnosis...
@@alenraju9611 Yes, how did you know?
@@ryanowns5 lmao, you don't get to tell me I don't have anxiety. It's not self diagnosed, I've been to several therapists and I have been struggling with it for about 7 years.
Just because a 9 day trip went surprisingly well, does not mean I don't feel it's effects.
You clearly have no clue what any mental illness is if you think you can diagnose it from a single account from a trip I went to 2 years ago.
I will more than happily talk to you about my anxiety and why I have it.
Please educate yourself, Ryan.
Globe? Where did you see a globe? Don't you live on earth?

How is this ordinary that's a cool ass city
@@nadavguy10 When you live there and pass these things everyday on your way to work, when you're tired, when its cold, when it's too busy and you just want to get where you want to be - it becomes a bit annoying and you lose the perspective that it is in fact a very beautiful place. But when you leave and are removed from all the daily hassle, you realize the beauty you're missing.

Your bitch ass should've came to the Knicks
Honestly, this looks way better than what my eyes see when I go for a walk in nyc
Thats because he color grades and makes it look cinematic. This guy added a slight blue color grade. thats why movies look way better than the real locations sometimes. Also, to an insider, because theyre so used to it, NYC doesnt look that cool, but people outside and around the world consider NYC a spectacle at every corner

That part of the city certainly looks a lot better than the rest of the city, and of the U.S. in general, even without nice light, filters etc.
Ok NY Manhattan is one experience, the rest of NY is another completely different. What makes the difference is Manhattan. London is similar but more elegant if we speak about the main area.
The sheer amount of people wearing t-shirts, shorts, short dresses and flip-flops in the rain (and apparently strong wind) is kinda stunning.
How many people are in a hurry to get somewhere... Bustling in the city, even despite the rain. And the transmission of the sound of rain is simply magnificent!

This is so beautiful! I love walking in big cities, and the few times I have been to NY it was great to walk those streets. Watching this I kept wishing for a Noire voiceover to go with the sirens and the rain and the chatter. I bet you could fit an entire Noire detective story in this walk it you're really creative.

Never asked for this video but I’m glad I saw it.
Same toо.

It's like walking the streets of New York in person! I love this walking video
The more I watch these kinds of videos, the more I realize one major thing. Not once in this video did I see someone acknowledge one another, the fact that humanity has come to be so connected and populated, yet we speak and create even the smallest of connections with no one. I struggle with this myself, as I am somewhat introverted in public spaces, but realizing this now I feel as if though I really need to change it as it seems to be a really big part of living.
I don't know why, but this video hits deep. Admittedly I'm not from NYC - or even the states - the city I live in is much smaller, so I may have a different outlook on this to the average person. I think it's just the number of people and faces you see in this 1 hour, the snippets of conversation, and the lights on in every building you pass by. You're unlikely to ever meet any of these people again, let alone become familiar with them. They're just another person, each with their own experiences and stories, except you'll never know them.
I don't know how to explain this feeling properly, just this overwhelming sense of profoundness.
Very eloquently put.
I know exactly how you feel. Each of them has their own little world they live in and circle of friends they revolve around, the same as you and I do. Looking at it from a grander scale really puts our insignificance into place. Absolutely love the pitter patter of rain by the way...

mystery movie, a thousand stories in those wet shoes and sandals. I love it, simply adore it.
yes, it feels alive to me, i love watching people too, but im not that social with people
your comment had me imagining a whole scene/storyline - a girl just can’t catch a break after she gets off work. she clocks out late hitting overtime, walks out of her secured work building when she realizes she might actually need her umbrella (which she had taken into work and left it there a few days prior *just incase* it rained one of those days). as she’s about to try to get back into the building she can’t find her entry key/badge and it’s only drizzling at this point and is hopeful she can call her coworker or security to let her in only to realize her phone is close to dying.. she still attempts to ring as much as she can which no one answers or no voicemails are set up and after 3 calls.. dead… phone dead. her only choice now is to make it home before it rains “a bit more”. she was going to try to walk if she had her umbrella but instead of risking it she decides the bus would be the better option.. boards the bus.. no cash.. barely enough change for 2 stops.. gets off where she can.. went from a steady drizzle to moderate rain. recently out of university with major debt she has a credit card for emergencies only.. TAXI! starts to rain a bit heavier… all these cars and cabs and not one wants to stop for her.. finally one looks like it’s going towards her.. no drive past and splashed her a bit… HEAVY rain but her hand still waving when a lady drives up rolls down her window and smiles.. looks like you need to dry off.. get in! and a new friendship was born

There is color grading and greys/blues are dark and prominent which gives off a certain vibe. Also, the high quality of the recording and slow and steady pace of the walking allows the viewer to soak everything in much more than they would in real life. This video starts off with my actual walking commute after work, literally same streets and same side of the street, which I didn't enjoy but it was interesting to see through another perspective. The viewer has the advantage of avoiding smell, which allows them to just focus on video/audio, and that's good because E 33rd St (where the video starts off) has some sections that smell awful. The rain does wash that away though, so perhaps wasn't bad on that day.
TheBackyardGamer i agree. When I’m walking I’m always conscious towards myself (cuz anxiety lol) and cars (I have this feeling that cars are gonna hit me especially if they are too close to me) but few days ago, I was so tired after class that I just walk mindlessly, I wasn’t thinking about anything and my environment seem more “real”, serene and calming.

Because it immerses you to the vivid reality of life in NY
The simplest things are the easiest to treasure, memories make more life than silence

As someone who has travelled very often, I've come to understand that any city is whatever you make of it. Places that people tell me are the worst, I usually end up having the time of my life. I think people just need to keep an open mind.
As someone who grew up in 3 different continents during the 70s and is of multi/culture/nationality/ethnicity/religion, you are correct. Step out of your boundaries, get a chance to look from the outside in, not just inside out. Love the pseudo blade runner type ambience of one of my old towns.

I struggle with being outside and socializing with anyone however love the feeling of walking around in the rain. It calms me down to listen to weird out of context conversations and the noises around however at the same time I hate the people around me and cant stand the noise. I love that I found a thing that allows me to not be anxious and enjoy the rainy, busy cities (:
Do you have social anxiety like me😥?! it is Very hard for me to walk in places like that😣.
Pure gold. Thanks for your work !

Gwénaëlle Cerveaux same. I don’t live in New York, but have gone to Manhattan many times. Seeing all the photos of the empty streets is all just rough because to me New York is the city that never sleeps, and is always alive.
Gwénaëlle Cerveaux I walk in the village, greetings from Russia
from the opposite part of Earth, can relate. How often does that happen.
