I think if was strange that you didn't try to work out what devs Orange had. They were the only player with down devs and you often had rolls for a dev card draw.
A couple of orbits towards the end it was possible to deduce that Orange had neither a Mono nor YoP or they would have citied up after porting for city material.
The only thing that made sense after they played their hanging road was they had RB + VP or 2x VP.
In this situation, I think you need to pull for a VP/Mono/YoP. Mono is actually great because of how disruptive it is. You need multiple rolls for a city but the other players do not necessarily need multiple rolls, so better to strike for a complementary dev card.

Other players don't understand often, that it's not about establishing "reality" they try to portray the game as it objectively is, when Drew's and any good player's mindset it: Someone else is always ahead or dangerous, there's always a stupid reason to just keep the narrative up. Drew is absurdly good at just destroying the frames of these "weakerminded" players who are like "dudu didelidi I am not leading" whilst Drew is playing 3D chess with them and their moms.

plow = use roads to prevent someone from settling in a specific spot; pop = buy a development card
