Definitely recommend the High-Elf Atronach build. You can regain your magicka by creating a telekinesis spell on self, and having the largest magic pool in the game allows for creating custom spells that other builds wouldn't be able to cast.

I have to agree. And it would be much more indepth due to the more intricate level system that oblivion has. Wow Morrowind builds would be fantastic too but either way though keep them coming guys
@@DoeSwiftandBond I love to play Oblivion and I still do it's just that I always just give up Midway and just start over because I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong
YES!!! Literally just bought the game and was researching the best start when I saw this. Oblivion builds would be awesome! Thank you for all your hard work on this!
Finished Skyrim first and loved it. Spent something like 400 hours doing everything. Then during the pandemic I decided to give oblivion a second chance after I couldn't figure out locks years ago. Once I figured out how the game worked I quickly loved it more than skyrim for many reasons. Should have played it when it released but it looked kinda cheesy but hey retrospect is funny like that. Also how funny is 100% chameleon armour 😆
If you haven't played the Oblivion total conversion Nehrim, then I highly recommend you give it a try. Like Oblivion, it is the oddball of a series of total conversions for the TES games, has a quirky charm, and some pretty good side quests. The SureAI team have squeezed out all of the potential Oblivion has left by the wayside.
It's more immersive than Skyrim, everything, the personality of NPCs, what they do, how they interact with you and one another + the world. The game is more colourful, more fun, vibrant, combat for me is also better with the ability to use magic and weapon at the same time. I prefer the whole vibe of it despite having played Skyrim way more. I started Oblivion again recently and am enjoying it way more than Skyrim on PC having completed it on Xbox 360 originally probably about 15 years ago.
Oblivion has a special place in my heart as one of the first RPGs I ever played (Fable being the actual first). Aside from Arena (which I'm still trying to figure out the trick to), I found something fun and enjoyable about every Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim is a game that I can sit down and have fun while playing. Morrowind had my favourite story and guild questlines that can actually clash with each other, which I found really cool and I really appreciated the creativity of making your own spells. I didn't think I'd like Daggerfall but I ended up really enjoying it. My first character was a khajiit rogue that ended up being more of a nightblade. I liked the special advantages/disadvantages and the game-generated backgrounds.
I think a good start for more Oblivion content would 3 videos for builds, one focused on melee, one on magic, and one on stealth and how to work the leveling system to your advantage in each build. I know personally, the leveling system is what held me back from going from Skyrim to Oblivion.
Better to just ignore it and change the difficulty. Either that or if you’re pc install a mod that fixes leveling. +5 to all attributes I think it’s called.
Build videos would be very cool, My first time playing I used a High elf with a battle mage build, used umbra armor and clavicus vile mask. If I find a cool build I might start a second playthrough again.
You’ve gotta be joking. “Let us know if you want some builds for Oblivion.” Hell yes I do. I feel like that’s something that’s been asked about for a long time.
I'm basically trying to play fudge Muppets Skyrim battle mage in Oblivion I could definitely use some pointers says it's my first time playing Oblivion LOL
I’m so happy you made this video! I have been avoiding anything starfield and I do some stuff for Beyond Skyrim so I’ve been actively avoiding your new videos for a while. But this, I’m ready to start watching some FudgeMuppet again!
Oblivion blew my small mind when I first played it. I remember going to Gamestop and asking the employee for a good game that allows you to customize my character. That was literally my only want from a game to get me to play it back then. That employee got a big smirk on his face and asked if my mom would be ok with Oblivion. She had bought me GTA: SA so this wasnt a big deal at all. I put that game in and started playing and it literally changed everything I thought a game could be. I didn't know games could be so deep, so huge, so customizable, and so long! It changed the type of gamer I was and still am. These days I will not even look at a game if you can't create your own character, or at the very least 30 hours minimum of play time. I played Oblivion in 2007 and it tool me a whole to beat it with one character, but fallout 3 came out the next year and it blew my mind again. That's the Bethesda I remember and loved, but i have a different love for them these days. Skyrim and Fallout 4 are my favorite games of all time, and I appreciate Bethesda for providing the base for decades of modding that I partake in all the time. Bethesda has given me the best games I've ever played and will always hold a special place in my heart because of it 💯💯💯
Yeah man, I remember seeing a review of Morrowind and thought it looked cool. It waas amazing, open world, charcter creation, and factions. Playing TES for the first time is a truly magical experience.
@@FrogeFella yes I do enjoy it but theres times where I want to just exist I'm a world and not always have to fight and interact with it which is why I like Oblivion and Skyrim better. They can be as action packed as you want, but then can be just as peaceful
Hey @Fudgemuppet how about this build: - Redguard - dual swords ( *curved swords* of course) - Alteration spells such as paralysis and ebony flesh - NO ARMOR for roleplay and challenge - Or the red guard armor from the anniversary edition - speech until merchant perk Besides your Champion of Hircine build this is the most fun build I ever played. Roleplay idea: My one was a merchant and soldier of fortune. He made his way adventuring through Skyrim always looking for coin and gems he sells for lots of money. He wears traditional clothes and shining jewellery - but he is no easy prey for bandits, thanks to some magic tricks and his fast blades
I'd love to see a couple of oblivion builds here and there if even just for the fun of it, but doing the full thing. Not just "How to make a strong mage" but the Fudgemuppet kind of build we all know and love
This video got me into trying Oblivion after putting 400 hours into Skyrim. To be honest, the first 7-8 hours were very rough, but once I figured it out, I can safely say that I prefer Oblivion over Skyrim (80 hours spent so far). Will definitely have to check out Morrowind in the future. Thank you for the amazing video!
I've actually spent more hours in Oblivion than in Skyrim. :) The world was so vibrant and beautiful. And Skingrad is easily the best city in Tamriel. You can make any video about Oblivion you wish, I'll watch.
When I first started playing Oblivion I had no idea how to level up. My character was level 10 when I realized that you need to sleep for it! No wonder why was my character's life soo hard. Great video by the way!
I remember being 15 years old when this game first came out. I still find myself coming back to play this game every now and again just because this is such a fun and memorable game
Just learn the leveling system and you'll be golden. It takes more grinding of specific skills than Skyrim, but the story and all the odd quirks of the game make it worth it
Lmao ye pretty much, but it is pretty aids to do properly without commiting grade 4 autism (like i do every single time i start a new character) i hate it and love it in the same amounts
It's not worth it, just makes the game a micramagement hell. I'd advice avoiding learning the leveling system, ignorance is bliss. Just play naturally and use the difficulty slider a bit
if you're on PC one should definitely get the "+5 to all on level up"-mod. If on console either learn the level up system and min-max the shit out of it with exploitable (but unnecessary) skills or abuse the exploits/mechanics the game has to offer. Difficulty slider helps but only so far.
I can't even tell you how long I spent going through the book that came with it every time I started a new character, lol! Yes, I would love to see some builds, especially a magic user!
This was perfect to watch for me as I am starting a new playthrough on Thursday and have never beaten it yet but I've seen so much good stuff on it. Thanks for the video
yes please do some builds , I personally appreciate the builds you have done in skyrim and wouldn't mind your help and advise in a new chapter on a old/new game im starting
I started my love of TES with Oblivion, I loved this video, it brought the nostalgia back of the mechanics of such a legendary game. Loved watching this and just hearing RPG elements that were balanced between too complex and too simple.
Was 16 when the game released. Finished it at 18, full completion. Childhood game, will always come back to it, every couple of years, even if I don't have time now to put 700 plus hours like that playthrough. Don't think any game captivated me into it's world as much as this one.
I would love for yall to do some Oblivion builds! I love this game, but often don't stick with characters into the higher levels because of the leveling system. I don't have fun micromanaging my level ups so any over powered builds that would remain viable without efficient leveling would be a godsend.
I just started a Oblivion playthrough on my twitch channel. This will make getting started and I fumble less and make content more a LOT easier, or will at least point me in the right direction. Thank you!
Came back to watch again. There's a mod for Skyrim SE called Spell Research. Its really great for spell crafting and breaking enchanted items down and studying them. It even plays an animation where your character writes stuff down in a journal.
Oblivion making a comeback! Between this video, Major Slacks play through and SorcerDaves let’s play I’m itchin to dig out my oblivion discs and start a new game!
Would love an ultimate warrior, mage, thief character build guide for oblivion. The leveling system always throws me off when I haven’t played it for a long time. Would really appreciate it if they could be aimed for every race and not just the ones that are optimal for that kind of build.
My first experience with the elder scrolls was Skyrim and I adore it. One of my favorite games ever. I have tried oblivion many times but never got a good grip on it. This is definitely going to be a great help
The footage for this video was very well matched up, lads, great work. I even learned a thing or two and I played this in a similar fashion to how you introduced the game in the beginning!
Yes Michael, I surely need to watch this video! I haven't been already playing oblivion for 3 hours this morning, I definitely need this! Please excuse me while I watch this video while stalking the townspeople of Skingrad, on the request of a paranoid wood elf
Just started O this week, bought the game with Fallout 3 (just started too) I’ve beat lots of games etc. Fallout 4 Just Cause 4, Farcry 4,5,new dawn, primal, 6. Etc. I love gaming. I’m a full time Dad and work full time so my time is limited, that’s why I love watching videos for a little help. Thx world. Have a great weekend
Played and finished Skyrim for the first time a little over a year ago. Was going to ask for Oblivion as a Bday/Christmas gift this year and saw It's $5 on steam today!!! Now im here and looking at modding suggestions lol. Can't wait to get started.
Interesting you guys came out with this as I have seen tons of Skyrim players that have about had it with AE's shenanigans switching over to Oblivion in droves. I had my game modded to perfection and woke up one day with a complete disaster getting worse with every update. I have just recently downloaded a fresh copy of Oblivion and a mod pack and started playing for the first time. Lots to learn. Thanks for this vid!
The most op thing in the early game you can do in Oblivion is to create custom spell with drain 100 life for 1sec on Target. Cost of the spell is ridiculously low. In the early game most of the targets have under 100 life and the 1 sec drain just instantly kills them. So you basically nonstop cast your homemade "avada kedavra" spell killing anything on single hit :D. Loved this as a teen. Btw the Dark Brotherhood storyline in this game is imho the best guild story ever released in the TES and yet not surpassed by anything. It was totally iconic. DB in Skyrim was just a former shadow of the DB in Oblivion.
This has me so excited for Skyblivion. I've tried re-playing Oblivion with and without mods and can never seem to get it to run for more than 30 min on my system without it CTD.
Just started this game, played 3houra straight. And it still looks amazing for how old it is. I made a beast pc, but im going back in time to play the masterpieces that nowdays are so scarce Oblivion, skyrim after, witcher 3, mass efeext legendary 2023, 2024 are full Nice video man!
A few quality of life and stability mods go a long way with Oblivion, I'll say that. Add in a few more modern appearance mods like fixing the NPCs awful potato faces and it really is quite a great game.
Oblivion builds? Yes, please! I love this game. I love the series from when I first started in Morrowind (My fav). I'm currently planning on doing a full playthrough from Arena, all the way up to Skyrim. Wish me luck :)
Dunno if it was mentioned, but apparently on console, there’s a thing known as the A-bomb glitch. There’s a counter that records frames, and once it hits a certain number of frames, it screws your game up really badly and basically garbages that save file. You never know when it’s coming, but I’ve read people say they only get anywhere from 200-500 hours out of a save file.
How to break Oblivion Sheogorath-style: Sigilstones randomize on pickup. Quicksave before you take them and reload until you get the effect you want. The effect you want is chameleon. Enchant your gear for free and troll dagon into submission.
Or just go in and close all the Oblivion gates and you'll get multiple of every type of sigil stone. You don't even have to fight enemies, just run past them all and get to the stone. And you'll occasionally get super valuable loot from the pods.
One thing you got slightly wrong and one thing you forgot. Stamina: When reaches zero has a chance to go negative, when that happens. You faint, you can use magic or enchanted weapon to drain/absorb enemies stamina doing the same to them. Higher level npc: it is far worse then just large hp, it's their abilities that will piss you off. I fought enemies that either made my drop my weapon or kept hitting me, making me fly backwards
As someone who also grew up with oblivion this was a fun ride down memory lane its always interesting to see how newer players get into the game but even more interesting to see how someone would guide them I've tried to get friends to play but they're stumped at the speech minigame and don't understand certain things yet I recently did a heavy armour blade build with a redgaurd first time trying to optimize play its worked well hopefully you do make some builds to help players further explore the game with a little less trouble
Heck yeah! Would love to see some builds for Oblivion. Ya'lls Skyrim builds gave me so many ideas/templates for hours and hours of good fun. Also thanks so much for this video! I've wanted to give Oblivion a try for ages but I've never been able to commit to it, giving it a shot with all the info from this video in my back pocket now!
Speaking of doing builds for Oblivion. It would be so cool down the line to know Fudgemuppet as the ultimate source for interesting character builds for all TES games
Great video, while I have played it since 06 on and off you reminded me of things I'd forgotten. Just building up a big mod list and I'm off again. Jealous of those for whom it's going to be a new experience.
There is your build guys: Khajiit Vampire + the Steed + focus on athletics and acrobatics and dark brotherhood stuff and you will soon be able to jump everywhere. No need to walk, run or ride. You can basically jump at the roof of every house xD I had soooo much fun back then... I recommed just play the game. I did it, too, when YT wasn't invented.
The problem I had with Oblivion was the timer on the main quest. In Skyrim, if you don't go to Bleak Falls Barrows and get the dragon stone, you never have to deal with dragons if you don't want to. But Oblivion, in 30 game hours (or is it days?), random portals pop up and force you to deal with the Oblivion crisis, usually before you are ready for it. Want to learn the combat system? Want to join the Arcane University? Want to join the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves' guild? You had better do it fast, because that clock is ticking. And when the countdown begins, you have to deal with it or pretend to be a sociopath. I only got halfway through the Mage Guild quest line before the main quest started interfering with my playthrough.
This was my first Bethesda game ever! It had already gained GOTY by the time I picked it up, and it took me several false starts to actually invest some hours into it. I have it again on PC and some build guides would be most welcome. The level of production and fluidity you all bring to builds is top notch. 👌
I'm a big fan of Skyrim. Haven't seen the video and haven't read any comments yet, but I will later when my current first playthrough of Oblivion is finished. I didn't NEED to know anything since my goal was to experience Oblivion "blind". I did read the manual, though, and the loading tips (whenever they don't disappear too fast...). Been having a blast with the game.
As a seasoned player im really glad this guide gives a fair take on the game's leveling system and not mentioning the use of any mods. For all new players mod-wise i will only recommend the Unofficial Patches since any gameplay mod greatly changes the overall experience and can leave the wrong impressions. As for the game itself, like the man said, common sense, the game gives you more than enough tools to make the character you want without min/maxing, simply play the game and it will all click.
Oblivion is a true masterpiece, one of the greatest games of all time. I truly hope when they remaster it, which I think is either happening in 2024, or 2025, they release it on either the switch, ps4, or both, so I can grab it💖

Please do some builds for Oblivion as well that'd be great I've been trying to get into Oblivion now but I just stopped a few steps in because I'm so used to the cut and dry quest lines of Skyrim sometimes
I have to agree. And it would be much more indepth due to the more intricate level system that oblivion has. Wow Morrowind builds would be fantastic too but either way though keep them coming guys
Oblivion is a beautiful game. Feel free to jump right in and let wonder and curiosity guide you! Its all in your hands.
@@DoeSwiftandBond I love to play Oblivion and I still do it's just that I always just give up Midway and just start over because I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong
@@DoeSwiftandBond agreed. I still play oblivion all the time. Such a great game.
@@oterosantiago42005 that’s the beauty of it my friend
YES!!! Literally just bought the game and was researching the best start when I saw this. Oblivion builds would be awesome! Thank you for all your hard work on this!
Thanks for the support! Glad you liked it
Finished Skyrim first and loved it.
@@rissaarei5336 I'll have to look into this. Thank you kind person of the internet!
@@crabbuckets7506 Always happy to spread the word 😁👍
@@rissaarei5336 Enderal is also the sequel to Nehrim which could be cool for those that have played it.
I suppose i was lucky in that respect then as i was the other way around
@@Juxxize I honestly preferred oblivion over Skyrim’s system so I’m lucky it was the same way for myself too!
Oblivion's Leveling system still gets me.
I'd like to restart and try again, thank you for this video.
I would love to see some Oblivion builds for sure, more Oblivion content, the better. My absolute favourite video game of all time, no contest.
I’m so happy you made this video! I have been avoiding anything starfield and I do some stuff for Beyond Skyrim so I’ve been actively avoiding your new videos for a while.
But this, I’m ready to start watching some FudgeMuppet again!
Oblivion was always the odd one out in the series for me when it comes to learning how to play.
This is immensely useful, thanks!
It and especially shivering isles is the best. Way better than Skyrim.
I’m quite familiar with Oblivion just came to show some love for the algorithm. Great video mate 🖤
Bethesda has given me the best games I've ever played and will always hold a special place in my heart because of it 💯💯💯
Yes, my first RPG game... nowdays....I cant really enjoy a game if it isnt rpg. At least it needs to be heavy fantasy.
Yeah man, I remember seeing a review of Morrowind and thought it looked cool. It waas amazing, open world, charcter creation, and factions. Playing TES for the first time is a truly magical experience.
This is random but do you like Elden Ring? Asking because it has 30 hours of game play and a character customizer
@@FrogeFella yes I do enjoy it but theres times where I want to just exist I'm a world and not always have to fight and interact with it which is why I like Oblivion and Skyrim better. They can be as action packed as you want, but then can be just as peaceful
bethesda bioware and bungie gave me so many good memories
Hey @Fudgemuppet how about this build:
- Redguard
- dual swords ( *curved swords* of course)
- Alteration spells such as paralysis and ebony flesh
- NO ARMOR for roleplay and challenge
- Or the red guard armor from the anniversary edition
- speech until merchant perk
Besides your Champion of Hircine build this is the most fun build I ever played.
I think it would be very refreshing to make some roleplay builds for oblivion since the lore is so well known from that time now.
Wish I had a video like this prior to picking up Oblivion a couple years back. I was lost with the leveling and all that.
I really hope y’all do another one of these for Morrowind! It’s one Gamepass now, I just downloaded it onto my Xbox!
The nostalgia hit hard with this, would love any oblivion content that comes
Just learn the leveling system and you'll be golden. It takes more grinding of specific skills than Skyrim, but the story and all the odd quirks of the game make it worth it
You're absolutely right, plus it's actually much easier than most people think it's just that it is not as casual as skyrim's.
@@ZingoBananaa i regret doing that shit so much, just don't
I can't even tell you how long I spent going through the book that came with it every time I started a new character, lol!
Yes, I would love to see some builds, especially a magic user!
This was perfect to watch for me as I am starting a new playthrough on Thursday and have never beaten it yet but I've seen so much good stuff on it. Thanks for the video
yes please do some builds , I personally appreciate the builds you have done in skyrim and wouldn't mind your help and advise in a new chapter on a old/new game im starting
I just started oblivion recently, so this was very fortuitously timed. Thanks for the good information
I started my love of TES with Oblivion, I loved this video, it brought the nostalgia back of the mechanics of such a legendary game.
Loved watching this and just hearing RPG elements that were balanced between too complex and too simple.
Yes let's have some Oblivion builds! I've been meaning to start my first playthrough and would love the inspiration that your guys' builds give 🙏🏻
There has to be a deleveling mod for Oblivion right?
@@ChadKakashi ...not on xbox 😁
I just started a Oblivion playthrough on my twitch channel. This will make getting started and I fumble less and make content more a LOT easier, or will at least point me in the right direction. Thank you!
Came back to watch again. There's a mod for Skyrim SE called Spell Research. Its really great for spell crafting and breaking enchanted items down and studying them. It even plays an animation where your character writes stuff down in a journal.
I love the build videos you all do. Hell yeah we want more
Oblivion making a comeback! Between this video, Major Slacks play through and SorcerDaves let’s play I’m itchin to dig out my oblivion discs and start a new game!
Your upload was very timely as I just started playing it for the first time. I’m having a grand old time with it
Would love an ultimate warrior, mage, thief character build guide for oblivion.
The leveling system always throws me off when I haven’t played it for a long time.
Would really appreciate it if they could be aimed for every race and not just the ones that are optimal for that kind of build.
I have little interest in Playing Oblivion (again), but I would absolutely watch Oblivion build videos you put together.
Alright, I'll play Oblivion again. Would be awesome to see builds for it from you guys!
We really would like some Oblivion builds.
PS. Adoring fan is the most iconic companion.
Please do oblivion build vids?
Would definitely watch every single one.
Promise!
Would love to see some Oblivion builds! I played it tons as a kid but man I would love to see some of yalls builds to get me back into it!
23:26 There is a reanimation spell you can obtain in Shivering Isles, by collecting all of the skulls for the hidden Hill of Suicides quest.
Just started this game, played 3houra straight. And it still looks amazing for how old it is.
I made a beast pc, but im going back in time to play the masterpieces that nowdays are so scarce
Oblivion, skyrim after, witcher 3, mass efeext legendary
2023, 2024 are full
Nice video man!
A few quality of life and stability mods go a long way with Oblivion, I'll say that. Add in a few more modern appearance mods like fixing the NPCs awful potato faces and it really is quite a great game.
I was always afraid a little bit and frustrated... But he'll this was one of a video! Thanks for that!
Michael and Scott still spitting out bangers, hell yeah
Oblivion builds? Yes, please! I love this game. I love the series from when I first started in Morrowind (My fav). I'm currently planning on doing a full playthrough from Arena, all the way up to Skyrim. Wish me luck :)
We need builds and play throughs. Oblivion is the new skyrim!
@@JakeKoenig who needs loot If all you need are 4 Stones though
Really great guide. Thx my dude
Just started played oblivion. The timing on this is great
One thing you got slightly wrong and one thing you forgot.
Been playing oblivion recently been absolutely amazing what an awesome game so much content and stories
I'd like love if you guys made builds for the other games
Speaking of doing builds for Oblivion. It would be so cool down the line to know Fudgemuppet as the ultimate source for interesting character builds for all TES games
Great video, while I have played it since 06 on and off you reminded me of things I'd forgotten. Just building up a big mod list and I'm off again. Jealous of those for whom it's going to be a new experience.
WE SAY YAY TO OBLIVION BUILDS!
Man I love the video. It's amazing, but I tried playing morrowind, and it's so much different than even oblivion
You guys should DEFINITELY make some Oblivion builds. That would be fantastic.
I love this game so much, its one of my favourites, just watching this to see what you're saying 😂
Good work team forever a fan no matter what.
PLEASE MAKE OBLIVION BUILDS ! Such an wonderful game and I think you guys would do well with the builds
Just downloaded Oblivion today. Perfect timing! Keep up the videos please 😁
Thank You For This Ive Just Been Playing Oblivion and I know a lot of this already but now I know what I might want my next character to be thank you
I love Oblivion so much. Thank you.
The archery footage around 10:00-10:35 demonstrates why I love Amber arrows - if you miss, they're SO much easier to find in the dark! 😁
Oblivion builds would be awesome
I’d even love to see Morrowind builds
The lockpicking mechanic is maddening after playing Skyrim but outside that this game is an experience all fantasy fans should give a try.
Then here I am playing Arena for the first time, absolutely in awe to see how years ago Tamriel actually had streetlights in every city.

It´s canon: Nords are the physically strongest race. Orsimer are second fiddle.
MATN’s current Oblivion run has me itching to try my own hand. Please do some builds!
Damn this video made me miss oblivion... I still remember playing it all excited about Skyrim coming out in a few months.
I would absolutely love character roleplay builds like you guys did for new vegas.
This was a very good video. I've just returned to oblivion for the first time in a very long time. Daedra and divines but it's good
Oblivion is a true masterpiece, one of the greatest games of all time. I truly hope when they remaster it, which I think is either happening in 2024, or 2025, they release it on either the switch, ps4, or both, so I can grab it💖
