- If you ever needed to try to explain Lost to a person who has never seen it, this is probably the best way to summarize it.
Hurley tries to explain what really happened after the plane crash to his mom. Clip from the fifth season episode "The Lie."
When you try to explain Lost to someone who never watched it..... Lol
I dont know what you mean but i believe you
@@rpns.3403 Exactly! XD
His mom's "I believe you," is just so comforting and reassuring.
It’s the “I don’t understand you, but I believe you “, that gets me. She loves her baby.
I lowkey boomarked the timestamp so I can pretend it's someone saying it to me.
Really pathetic now that I think about it.
A mother can always tell when their baby boy is lying.
@@mrsilver8517 I'm drinking right now. I've been watching Lost videos for over 3 weeks. Now I'm not sure if it's a sign or not but as soon as I read your comment my bottle started shaking for no reason what so whatever. I almost ignored your comment but for some reason something told me not to and in case you're doing bad in life just know that we're all gonna make it.
@@mrsilver8517 It's not pathetic, I'm kind of worried about you but you're not pathetic. I send you hugs and blow you a kiss. 😘
The two most hilarious parts of his speech were the casual way he said "and then there was a smoke monster" and "Desmond's girlfriend's father" as though his mother would totally know who he was on about. Brilliant stuff!
Dont forget “well, i was never really clear on that, about the button.
Can I get a cheer for Hugo’s mother? My God... underrated character.
I love her!
She was so incredibly supportive. It’s no wonder Hugo had such a great personality.
I hated her lol. She was so annoying. She was nice in this scene tho.
I also like his dad too. I do think he came back into Hurleys life for the money, but then had a change in heart and became a good dad again
I really think Hurley is the most lovable character in the history of television... heck, in the history of fiction in general
He really is!
no, everyone hates hurley
@@isuckatmakinghandles amen
Hurley,Sawyer, Kate , Clare, Charlie are my favorites
Yep that’s why Charlie dreamed him as Jesus.
He loves everyone even Ben. He forgives Michael.
The only entity he isn’t lovely to is the man in black.
Well and the other he ran over with the van in the season 3 finale. But I’m of the opinion that killing him was justified because he was saving his friends.
I think Jacob bonded with Hurley most because he k ew Hurley would be the best guardian, he’d turn the island i to a paradise where all the unwanted, unloved, lonely people on earth can come and live if they want. Like the commune Locke was part of, except for the drugs thing.
“An island for misfit toys………”
Who else thinks Hurley was thinking about Charlie when was starting to break down and said "A lot of people died Ma"?
He was thinking of a lot of people
He was thinking of both libby, and Charlie.
Of course he's talking about Artz
Charlie, Libby, Shannon, Boone etc..etc.
He was thinking of everyone I bet.
To tell someone the truth, with the thought that no one would believe you if you told them, or that they would judge you, is a terrifying thing. So many people keep the truth to themselves for these reasons. They suffer in silence because of it.
"I believe you. I don't understand you, but I believe you."
She is an amazing Madre.
Yes, you're absolutely right, well said. So many people suffer in silence and we need more people like Hurley's Mom. Good decent open-hearted people. I wonder if Hurley kept in touch with his Mom after he became the Protector.
"Well i wasnt really clear on that !" LOL
"Polar bears?!"
"You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
This short scene explains how much really happened in Lost without saying how much really happened lol. Great show!
Just rewatched this episode with my gf who has never seen the show. I forgot how much this scene moves me, not only because of how overwhelmed Hurley appears to feel after finishing the story, but especially from his mother's understanding reaction, because who can't relate to a mother consoling her son? My gf also teared up, and we gave each other a big hug. (^v^)
are you gay?
Well I was never really clear on that.
Okay... You see, we did crash... But it was on this crazy island. We waited for rescue, only there wasn't any rescue. And then there was this smoke monster, and then there were other people on the island. we call them "The Others". Then they started attacking us. Then we found some hatches and there was a button you had to push every 108 minutes or.... Well I was never really clear on that. But the Others didn't have anything to do with that. That was the Dharma Initiative. They were all then. The Others killed all them, and now they are trying to kill us. Then we teamed up with the others because some worse people were coming on a freighter. Desmond's girlfriend's father sent them to kill us. So we stole their helicopter, and we flew it to their freighter. But it blew up and we couldn't go back to the island because it disappeared. So then we crashed into the ocean. And we floated there for awhile till a boat came and picked us up. By then there was six of us. That part was true. But the rest... But the rest of the people... Who were on the plane... they're still on that island. A lot of people died ma... And now this bad stuff is happening because... Well a... We shouldn't have lied
you'll never get more than 108 likes dude, booom
Bear in mind ALL OF THAT happened in just 100 days on the Island.
That means Sawyer, Jin, Miles spent almost 11 times as much time on the Island as Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sun, and Sayid. Jack died to save the Island, Hugo became it's protector for however long that was, Sun and Jin lost their lives because they were candidates, Sayid gave his life, to save them. John gave his life in service of the Island having spent just 100+ days on it, pretty much same for Jack.
@@saralouazo8928 You cant tell him what he cant do
Next year I’m going to present this as a monologue for my drama class
Lost has some of the best dramatic music a tv serie has ever had :P
This scene hits me straight in the heart
Hurley choking up when he's about to say "the rest of the people from the plane" always gets me😭 Jorge is so underrated
Yeah. He feels that’s the world because if they lie about the Islam then nobody will look for the people they couldn’t save.
Hurley once caused a pier to collapse killing people (even though it wasn’t his fault) the guilt gave him a psychological break with Dave and a suicidal eating disorder.
Also paranoia that misfortune around him is his fault.
Any time something bad on the island happened (even though hurley had no reason to believe the curse was still active on the island) he said it was probably his fault.
Plane crash, Dr Artzt etc. this feed into his paranoia and guilt driving his delusions which pushed him to suicide. Until Libby talked him down using logic and reason.
Maybe Dave was a manifestation that of the smoke monster tryin to get a (very very good) candidate to kill themselves.
A death which would wreak havoc on the survivors, emotionally, creating more opportunities for MIB to appear as Hurley as to manipulate them into suicide, killing candidates or even killing Jacob.
If mib told Locke that Jacob killed Hurley, he could turn the whole camp into an anti Jacob army, as war with the others and thought this chaos the candidates might all die or the leader could be deposed and John Locke has already convinced them that he’s the next leader, then he can turn the some of the others against him too perhaps.
LOL!
Best Lost recap ever!! couldn't have said it better myself :)
well done Hurley!!!
Dude.... you got Artz on you.
Well hes all over the place
What a comprehensive mother. I cried !!!
For some reason, more than anything else, the way he says, "That part was true." makes me laugh.
Makes me laugh but I always have tears in my eyes.
"I don't understand you but I believe you"
Hugo's mum having so little screen time in the show yet giving life lessons on how we treat the ones we love. Best parent on Lost by far.
I imagine Hurley's mother reassuring him because he needs it, but thinking, as you probably would, that it is all in his head, which is an even sadder situation as a mother I imagine.
"That part was True!"
don't you just love micheals score in this scene.
lost would have been NOTHING without Hurley. i started watching mainly because of him. first time i saw lost was in Spanish and i couldnt even read the subtitles. yet i knew i had to watch because i saw Hurley running through the woods xD
love the mom!!!
Carmen was the best mom on Lost.
Yeah.
But also Charlie, Alex, Claire, Kate, sun.
But Carmen had no reason to believe this other than he trusts her son, and that is just beautiful.
it pretty much sums up everything that happened s1-s4. Well done Hugo.
0:20 Hurley giving Pi Patel's explanation a run for its money!
His mom is everything moms should be. My favorite characters were Locke, Hurley and Desmond alternating throughout the series.
I love Hurley
Jorge is not given enough credit for his acting. Great job here, and throughout the show.
"that part was true!"
Possibly the show's most heartwarming moment: 2:00 - 2:05
Fantastic Scene!!
“ I don’t understand you, but I believe you” pretty much sums up the entire audiences reaction to lost 😂
i love this scene
Before there was Luis recapping things to Scott, there was Hurley explaining what was happening on the Island.
I would love for Luis (Michael Pena) from Ant-man to sum up LOST! Hurley's is downright spot on AND hilarious.
Please Jususnin heaven no.
Marvel is spreading like the Borg.
Exactly my thoughts when I first saw this!!!
such a great mom, to believe all of that craziness
poor hurley.......:( who else wishes to give hurley a hug?
Hugo explains lost in 52 seconds
me explaining my weekend on mondays be like
As a parent hearing his would break your heart because you couldn’t believe it because it sounds so crazy but would want to believe it if it would help your son think he isn’t crazy. Glad he left out the Polar Bears 🐻❄️
In an earlier episode, his mother says that she knows that he's lying because he doesn’t keep eye contact (the part where he fainted while holding the lottery ticket).
Here, he is consistently holding eye contact with her, and so she believes him.
On Graham Norton they were playing a game of typing stuff into google and looking at the weird suggestions.
Graham types “why is there”
And one of the suggestions was “why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch” and they all laughed at how weird and random that was…….
Nobody knew it was a funny line from Lost.
I found that frustrating.
0:36-Makes me laugh out loud every time!
perfect way to explain lost to my friends
the amazing thing was that it was an great show despite this description:)
2:01-Maybe this is a lesson in life we all need to learn.
Reminds me a lot of The Leftovers as well.
Incredible scene!
Now, we have to go back... We have to go back to the IIIIISLAAAAAAND!
If I heard this, I'd be like Hurley, we need to get you back to the hospital ok? I know u dont think you're crazy but this is for your own good
omg thank you!
Fair play to hurley mom
What if our whole lives we are living now is all in Hurley's imagination o)
Or not
Her name is Suzanne Krull and she died in 2013 RIP
@mistaeric it's too bad, you missed out. It's not too late, thanks to the magic of DVD but Lost was a great television experience. But if you're not into sci-fi then that would be why you thought it was getting silly. You really have to suspend all disbelief in order to enjoy sci-fi properly.
im Believing him and i understand him
He forgot about the polar bears.
well done!
This is such a powerful scene, showing Hurley's love and his agony over what he had to do to protect his fellow survivors. Indeed this has got to be the shortest and possibly the most vivid narrative summary of what happened to them since crashing on the Island! And I love his mom's response - even though she has no idea what he's talking about, she can tell that he is speaking from the heart and what he is saying is completely and profoundly true.
@minxado
I don't think that he meant he "explained" Lost, I just think he meant that it's a quick recap of it
No, he was already trying to convince his mother that evil numbers were following him BEFORE the crash.
i love hurley!
Gotta ♥️ Hugo!
these people know the meaning of lo real maravilloso americano
i don't know about you people but this was a very emotional scene for me. quite frankly. i couldn't explain lost in a better way.. my mom saw one episode once. the episode where the old lady explained how they would all get back to the island. she was like: ehh? what's going on?.
me: mom... start with episode 1
lol
Hugo is the coolest
is there some kind of connection between Hurley from LOST, Hurley album from Weezer and Hurley clothing?????
Anyone know which music this is?
Why DID the Oceanic six lie? I forget. Not about the whole island experience, but just being on the island.
Life was better when this show was going on
I thought it was SIXTEEN days... No, Wait... It was FOUR...
I'm starting to have headaches 🥴🥴
Hey does anyone know where I can watch the full episodes without having to pay/download anything? I really want to catch up on lost!!!!
Adam Blaylock Hulu
well done

You only have EIGHT days left! ;-)
Is he drinking Jarritos?
his mother has an attitude of..
WTF?
@gunsbulletsheroin ..hehe I can imagine, in the Heaven or whatever is the world where they are, Hugo wrote a letter to his Mom with this words...XD...you definitely true about everthing..:D
..."now most of us are dead. That part was true!..I can't stop laughing:D
@mistaeric
You realise that with that comment you just proved that you haven't actually seen the show at all?
