- Does what it says on the tin really. I've been asked about this helmet a lot, and I do like it a lot, except for a few things.
Also it looks like the RPHA 11 is not being discontinued for sale in the US and the RPHA 12 is actually aimed at naked bikes, and does not currently conform to the new ECE standard in the EU. My mistake.

There’s is a vent behind the chin bar that closes the silver vents
Now I know to pull and drag at stuff more in future :D Thanks amigo.
Even more silly I get fogging on track seeing as I have had them open forever.
Good review. I have a basic MT "flip up" (I wear glasses) but would like a Shoei, so HJC seems a good compromise. My purchase was based on fit and comfort (there's a Sportbikeshop about an hours drive away, so spent a good 45mins wearing the helmet in store while buying the rest of my gear). Cheers, Andy.
I still like MTs, very good helmets and safety ratings for the price. I want a Shoei, I think most people do but they are so so pricey. HJC have never let me down, every helmet has had it's foibles but it's always been minor. Oh that's a genius way to do it!!
Good video,I have 2 hjc helmets one is the cs-15 I used to wear when I was working at the steelworks it's a lower priced cs-15,comfy and well made, the other is the rpha 70 a mid price helmet with a drop down internal tinted visor I wear while touring and day trips, excellent value for money and super comfy, the only negatives I have for both helmets is the forehead liner material has a piped type stitching that after taking off helmet leaves a horizontal red axe type wound to one's noggin, cheers from south Australia.
Their cheaper "commuter" targeted helmets are great, the FG ST was brilliant, didn't wear as well as the RPHA but you wouldn't mind that. The 70 is a nice looking helmet, nearly went for one but I didn't go for it due to the drop down visor for track, wanted the extra crash passing :D
Ahhhh yeah I do have a nice line left on my forehead too now that you mention it, never bothered me tho as it doesn't rub say. Ah nice! I want to visit Australia some day soon!
I like looking up the SHARP ratings, but it can be a little confusing, as it uses the European model names for the helmets, which often don't match what they're marketed as here in North America. I was going to make a Michael Dunlop comment about the visor, but you were on to it already! I was watching that live and was aghast. Where else but at the TT would a guy pull over, fix his helmet, then complete the race?! As big of a shock as that was, he got the win today on the Paton S1-R in the Supertwins class. I think that bike is so cool, it was amazing to see him make history on it. I hope he knows what a massive inspiration he is. He's on the same level of Wayne Gretzky, George Best, and Michael Jordan to me. A standard above the rest, and a true legend.
Me too. Didn't mean to mention it so late in the video. I didn't realise that actually, me with my silly Euro head :D
Ah stop I was watching live as well and I was roaring at the tv when it happened. Absolutely gutted for him he was unbelievable. He's the goat now since yesterday. Watched the on catch up after work, great race too. The Paton is very cool but I actually prefer seeing the attainable bikes in the twins. Like I could own an R7 etc. A Paton? If I win the lotto maybe :D
You'd hope so. Regular man with a passion and talent. Absolutely and utter legend.
In case people don't see it in the description, the RPHA 12 looks like it's currently US only, and also is marked as a naked helmet. So it looks like the RPHA11 lives on both(in the US at least).
HJC currently only have 4 helmets listed as type approved for ece 22.06. unless that list is out of date, which it easily could be.
Either way I still think this helmet is a good option!
If you rate Sharp a lot you can also filter by 5 star only on their site and there's a good few options available then to suit most people :)
A squishy head would explain a lot of things you know 🤣 I love my Shoei Neotec 2. so comfortable. I'm curious about the Schuberth but I think my head is the wrong shape maybe. I admittedly don't have a lot of experience in many other brands. I just got what was comfy and had the features I needed.
Like what? :P I think you're probably goosed tbh, everyone I know who has ever got a Sheoi, still has a Shoei. So that's probably your brand now :D I'd get one but can't currently afford one. One day! :)
Mine is the Shoei X Spirirt 3. Love my helmet. Bought a transition lens for it and now that is the benchmark . If the Helmet is not available with a transition lens, I wont buy it.
I had a Nolan N100 which I really liked as well. Although it was a touch heavy.
Another Shoei convert. I've seen those transition lenses and I would absolutely love one. I want to buy a Shoei myself but it'll require some more saving first :P
Nolan make good stuff, you can't go wrong with most of the big brands that have good representation in racing imo.
Wish shoie would have the designs of hjc
Yeah, some of the stuff I've seen on Shoeis are class, but in general they do tend to be a lot more dull.
can you imagine being that guy who changed michael dunlops visor 😮
Ah stop imagine how awful you'd feel. Like 100% knowing you'd cost him an insanely dominant win. Heartbreaking.
This color or call of duty livery?
Very useful information there thank you.
If I go to buy a new helmet I'll definitely give it a wee shake to check the ratchet operation because that sort of thing gets on my tits.
My helmet is my favourite helmet, it's an Arai F-1 Kevin Schwantz replica from 1989. Maybe I shouldn't wear it anymore but it's not been dropped, it's seen very little UV, not faded and looks fantastic in my opinion. To be fair at my age if I was to hit anything at more than 30 mph I'd probably shatter anyway and the house is paid for and the kids are grown up and independent.
Glad it was useful! :)
Yeah same, literally nothing else on the helmet REALLY bothers me but that ratchet system is rotten.
I know any place that has an Arai stand they'll have someone to have a look at it too and tell you is it ok, follow rule no.1(don't fall off) and you'll be grand :D
Ah yeah exactly, I wouldn't bounce as well as I used to either so rule no.1 is very important.
Can you recommend a site to buy parts for older bikes from? shipping to Ireland?
cmsnl.com was what I always used. That's for Jap bikes only I think though.
@@TheGorillaBiker awesome, thanks
