    i have this helmet from few years. i just noticed that the visor has another lock that makes opening and closing very difficult when it's locked. it's the black dot u can see on the locker

    I recently got a rpha 70 based on some reviews that said it was really quiet. I'm not impressed. For me it has a horrible buffeting noise that is very loud, even at 60kmh. I have to wear ear plugs even just around town. My old helmet that was well overdue for replacement (pads were totally dead) was nice at quiet around town and i only needed ear plugs on the highway. I've found that wearing a scarf reduces the noise a lot, but there's still a lot of noise caused by turbulence off the chin of the helmet, because if i put my hand up under the chin of the helmet most of the noise disappears (until i get up to highway speed). I am on a naked bike, so that would play a part in it. I'm experimenting with making different chin curtains and all sorts of things to reduce the noise. Oddly enough, i think mounting a gopro upside down off the chin will reduce a lot of the noise

      Thanks for sharing. I wonder if the shell shape isnt a good fit with your head shape if more wind is getting in.
      As I mentioned, this is now my goto helmet out of the ones I own.

      @@SpectrumGeeks i think part of it is my neck shape. The cheek pads are very snug (if i open and close my mouth I'm almost biting my cheeks) but my neck dips in at the back of my jaw, right below my ear, which i think is allowing air to get up into the ear pockets. I've got an intercom coming, so it will be interesting to see if having speakers in the ear pockets changes the noise level. I discovered that opening my mouth actually reduced the noise at 60kmh a fair bit. But it all seems to stem from turbulence coming off the chin bar. Even turning my head slightly reduces the noise. I'm going to try sticking some foam under the chin to deflect the air a bit, or make a skirt that attracts to the chin and goes down to my chest.
      I really like how the helmet feels, i just need to get this wind noise down.

    Just about to buy the Erin version of the RPHA 70. Where did you get the dark smoke visor from?

      I got it from Sports Bike Shop online, same place I ordered the helmet, link in discription.

    Hi, thanks for the review! How much was this please with the Bennetts Bike Social offer, do they still have the deal?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  5 місяців тому +1

      When I bought it the helmet was on offer for £279.99, then a further £50 off with the Bennetts discount.
      Not sure if the offer is still on, I think it was a short term thing.

    I really don't think the rpha 70 is a budget helmet. Mid range more likely and really good feature set for the money.

      True ref mid ranger, guess it depends what price you can pick one up.
