That right there is some *authoritative* stack talk! Back up, everybody! I'd love to see 1225 on some mainline rail where they could really open her up (like the Fort Wayne folks have done with Nickel Plate 765--see "NKP 765 at 70mph" on UA-cam).
PM 1225 is a great locomotive and SRI is a great program. However, NKP 765 has a larger budget and is in much better condition for running 70mph, which is why FWRHS doesn't hesitate to do so. If you listen to the video you can hear the timing is a bit off on 1225, 1,2 ,3....4. Not so with 765 which is arguably in as good of mechanical shape as she was in her prime. Possibly better, with upgrades like roller bearings on the tender. Again, not a dig against 1225. I took my daughter there a few years back for the PE trip and it was a blast. Just putting things in perspective.

It's not a bearing, it's one of her Valves letting live steam whistle past to exhaust without doing work, indicating worn valve rings or a scoured valve cage (or both). Also if you listen close the valve events are not perfectly Square, as in 4 equally spaced chuffs. One cylinder is late (looking at the Crankpins as she runs past, I think it's the fireman's side). She needs some work but nothing that can't be taken care of over the winter.
