      Glad you enjoyed the video. The cruise is great choice for Ribs. I'm sure you will get the hang of it soon. Just push buttons and play. You can always reset it to factory settings if you get stuck.

    I own Simrad on one boat and Raymarine on the other. Simrad has very rudimentary waypoint management while Raymarine has outstanding waypoint management. Key features that Simrad is missing: 1) waypoint grouping 2) ability to turn on or off waypoint names for a group 3) different size waypoint icons (fish icons are tiny) 4) ability to bulk edit a group of waypoints 5) ability to filter waypoints by a string and then batch edit the filtered group
    The lack of these features makes the Simrad unusable for most fishermen and cruisers. I do not have a dog in this hunt other than making people aware of the shortcomings of Simrad.

      @@AquaLifestyle now that I have decided on a chart plotter I’m studying up on how to install it. What I’m having trouble finding is a video that shows how to wire the unit. Most specifically when there is not an existing unit. My guess is it must be fairly simple to connect a wire to an accy switch but all the videos I’ve watched so far skip that part. Another thing I was wondering. If you set up that detailed route when you get to your destination and are ready to head back can you select the same route?
      Thanks for the great videos and the reply!

      @@WoodandBricks Hooking up the new display is simple. If you have an open accessory switch on your panel you can just hook the positive wire to the positive side of the switch and the ground to the ground strip on the panel. Just make sure you have a fuse somewhere along the positive line or an equivalent breaker. We will have an upcoming general install video in the not too distant future. As far as the route question, when you want to return along the route you can select it from the route menu and there will be an option to "Reverse" once the route is selected. Just select that option and it will take you back along the route in reverse order. Hope this helps.

      @@AquaLifestyle that is very helpful! Thank you. I just bought a cabin cruiser and I’ve got to install a chart plotter and a vhf. Do you think it is worth while to tie the two together for gps? Would there be a reason to not power them both off the same switch? For the quality of the videos you are making I feel like your channel views very low. I hope that changes for you soon. Thanks again for the help!

      @@WoodandBricks Thanks. We are new to the channel so I hope our viewership will continue to grow. Powering them both off the same switch is not unusual. It is worthwhile linking the GPS to your VHF so if you ever need to press the DSC (red distress button) on the VHF it will transmit your position along with a mayday signal. Another option if you are purchasing a new VHF is to pay about $50 (US dollars) more for a VHF with a built in GPS and not have to worry about connections along with the added benefit of a back up rudimentary GPS. We hope you enjoy your new cabin cruiser.

    Can we get time /distance on the plot page in the side gauge box’s for next waypoint or final destination? I think that the navigation page layout could be better layed out

    • @AquaLifestyle
      @AquaLifestyle  3 роки тому

      Yes you can customize the data in that box and include Time/Distance.

    How about a video using a Cruise Simrad plus Cmap D for autorouting

    SO, no info on time - distance to next waypoint? final destination?

    • @AquaLifestyle
      @AquaLifestyle  3 роки тому

      The display is customizable to show time and distance to the next waypoint in a data box.

    Hey I was wondering what happens when entering goto. Does it show distance, bearing, time and all that?

    • @AquaLifestyle
      @AquaLifestyle  3 роки тому

      You will get all that information once you instruct the display to goto a waypoint. You can set up custom windows to display each separately if you wish.

    I have a cruise 5 and when I enter manually a gps mark it's way off where it should be. What would be the reason for that? I'm in Australia so we use south and East latitude and longitude. Every other gps unit I've had has no problem but this one. Is it something I'm doing incorrectly or is the unit cactus? It's almost new by the way.

    • @AquaLifestyle
      @AquaLifestyle  2 роки тому

      It must be set to a different grid system or coordinate format than what you are entering ex. degrees minutes and seconds or degrees minutes and thousandths of a second. Confirm what you have and then you can change it in the chart settings.

    • @marlin123ish
      @marlin123ish 2 роки тому

      @@AquaLifestyle all sorted. I spoke to someone about it and played around with it and yes it was coordinate type. I've ended up getting another unit anyway because the 5 inch was just a little bit small. Ended up with a simrad nss7.

    can you name your routes or waypoints? ie a specific restaurant?

    • @AquaLifestyle
      @AquaLifestyle  2 роки тому

      You can name your waypoints and routes whatever you like. The unit will automatically save it as the next number in the list but you can go in and edit it changing it to whatever you would like to call it.
