All that set design for a single sketch . . .incredible commitment to the . . . . . . . *whisper* . . . . . Ohhhhhh, i see . . . .thats actually London yesterday . . . . .
Even if it isn’t an actual live street scene (they usually are these days duh 🥹) they can do it with computer images etc. I recall reading that when they were making the movie about the early years of John Nash (A Beautiful Mind) there was a scene where he looks out of his University digs window at a flock of pigeons on a lawn. The director wanted to have them all fly off on cue but they just didn’t do it. In the end they just substituted them with computer graphics. In the movie you cannot tell. Gone are the days where actors had films running behind them while driving or pretending to ride a horse etc. I mean, Ben Miller (and his subsequent replacements in Death in Paradise) all lived in the Bahamas for 6 months while they filmed. That us why they changed because the actors wanted to return to their own homes and families. Doc Martin was shot on location in Cornwall, the whole cast and production team moved there to shoot each season. Lord of the Rings shot all over NZ …do we need to go on.??
That is filmed at Kings Bench Walk, Inner Temple EC1. The same area was filmed in Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol, the Da Vinci Code and Mary Poppins 2. It's a very lovely part of town which few people know about.
Yea, he was missing presumed dead, and was hiding for quite some time, more than a year I think. Ah, just looked it up, he was gone from 1891 to 1894, so I wouldn't blame Watson if he decided to move on.
@@fisherking7798 There is certainly an entire Arsene Lupin story that had them fight it out. It's a good read but they couldn't use the name Sherlock Holmes so, it became 'Arsine Lupin contre Herlock Sholmes'. I only have the French version of the book but here is a link to the audiobook in English.
I know, never realised he was in the show & now he seems to be in every sketch I'm watching. Wonder if he wrote for the show? (more than likely, given the hilarious 'Plebs' he did).
halburd1 Hey dummy, I just read your profile message. TE Lawrence died in a motorcycle accident in 1935. You claimed that letter was written in 1941. You are a fool.
It fits far more in line with the books, the characters in BBC Sherlock which is what I believe you were referring to have been changed quite a bit, tbh the only thing that is the same at this point is the fact that Sherlock is a genius and Watson is his friend.
"He certainly spotted I was a train drive-"
"Don't start."
Thank you. I replayed that bit a few times but couldn't quite get what Watson said there.
And holmes managed not to crack up laughing somehow as he said it.
And the immediate affectionate 'sorry' afterwards always tugs at my heartstrings
I love the choices Ben makes in how he delivers the missing cat reveal. So good.
The acting is just astounding! LOVE these guys,,
Four years later and it's still true!
All of this excellent acting to set up the final line. So perfect. These guys have true genius to pull this off.
Comedians have to be good actors, it's all about the timing.
They all die in the end. I do hope I haven't ruined it for you.
"Look at that big dog"
"That's a horse"
I let out the stupidest laugh
Most stupid, actually.
I love how Sherlock Holmes is trying to save his friend's pride with that "probably wrong" line
why can't all shows be this good?

That's not set design. That's just london.

What ARE you talking about?
This is just perfect.
The last line was heartbreaking.
You can tell Watson's not working with him for his brains, but for his fancy top hat and pipe.
These two are a class act.
I liked that sketch.
A bit subtle and an angle I've never seen before on Sherlock Holmes.
☮
it's been debated for many years as to whether they were just work colleagues
Pure genius!
My dear Watson...
😭😭😭😭😭
In Watson’s defense, this was probably the time he thought Holmes was dead
Yea, he was missing presumed dead, and was hiding for quite some time, more than a year I think.

Hilarious 😂 so beautifully awkward
He'd make a fine Homes, I believe.
I would give ANYTHING to watch Martin and Benedict act this out!
I would give anything to watch Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke do it, only they're not alive anymore :(
Benedict C's Holmes is too rude to play this part. He wouldn't be able to conceal his contempt.
thelouisfanclub But it fits Martin Freeman's Watson almost perfectly
How about your eyesight?
...
Just to have a worse version? I mean I’d be surprised if you could get Martin Freeman to act in the first place. It’s yet to be seen.
Dont watch the last scene in Mitchell & Webb. It will tear you apart
Yeah it’s awful
@@stevenesbitt3528Beautiful acting.
Brilliant!
An awkward meeting of your ex.
Thanks for the mention Cuz....Princess Dali is in full chachuska practice mode.....see you soon!
I love the confirmation that Watson lives with the new guy
Look at that big dog!
The should make another series
maybe they should have cast armstrong and miller in that film holmes and watson instead of will ferrel and john c reilly lol
They'd make the material work so much better. I can actually imagine Armstrong and Miller trying an old timey selfie
Ohhh... Look at that big dog!!
Well that was quaint wasn't it..
Holmes wasn't Watson's employer...but otherwise excellent.
If Watson really wanted to stick it to him he should've teamed up with Arsene Lupin.
That was for Herlock Sholmes.
If I remember correctly he was mentioned somewhere in the Sherlock Holmes stories

holmes didn't employ watson
Wow, is that Tom Basden?
I know, never realised he was in the show & now he seems to be in every sketch I'm watching. Wonder if he wrote for the show? (more than likely, given the hilarious 'Plebs' he did).
Aww, why don't they just kiss and make up?
Employer, hm? Is that what the Victorians called it?
Still funny then the will ferrall movie
mitchell and webb's holmes and watson sketch is better
The latest studies done at the Oxford university of TV sketches show otherwise.
tomtom21194 Different styles really
tomtom21194 right in the feels that was
Going to rescue a cat? How very public-spirited..
I love this idea. Doesn't fit with the relationship in 'Sherlock' whether it fits the books, I do not know.
i seen you once. down by stupid corner. right after moron ally! i'd recognize you anywhere!
Huh?

milliners of lesotho ? wasn't expecting small african country people to be posting Armstrong & Miller
