i use an adjustable firewood gauge to cut to specific lengths. Its a magnetic attachment for the bar, and it lets you notch marks, enables consistent log lengths. I have two woodstoves and a fireplace, sometimes I cut to their different lengths, 12", 16" and 20". Most of the time, I just cut to 12". Popular item, google search will get you a decent price/shipping costs in CDN$ for Ontario.
First off, nice video, I like anything outdoors and chainsaws. I've been cutting firewood for over 40 years and I've been an E.M.T. for 35 years with a volunteer rescue squad. I've seen accidental contacts between legs and chainsaws and every time when someone is not wearing chainsaw chaps the saw wins and the person looses. If you accidentally cut the femoral artery in a leg you can bleed out in less than three minutes and well I really don't want to say the rest. My advice is to invest in a good pair of chainsaw chaps. It's best to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I sincerely wish you all good luck and enjoy life.
Great seeing you make use of all the wood, I cut and heated with wood most of my life, here in southern Indiana it wasn't always easy to find wood to cut but it always worked out. I always had wood to cut. Nice saw! I have several Husqvarna saws , I have restored a few old Husqvarna 44s.
Dont take this the wrong way but you should wear chaps or pants, most injuries are on the legs and involve lots of blood loss. The pants or chaps may not even be enough but they might be the difference between 80 stitches and 200. When you are bleeding profusely a ER 10ft away would still be too far. Its far better to have them an never need them then to need them and not have them.
Is that just a lot of blowdown or is that the after of a road being put it? That looks like a really bad fire hazard. Maybe control burn it to reduce the fire load? If I recall correctly there has been a rise in wildfires in that area as well. So i would burn it on my own accords before nature decides to burn it for me.
It's always a good day in the bush with a good saw...I miss that alot...always liked doing firewood ✌️
It’s a lot of work but we love heating with wood! 🪵 🔥

Thanks for that. Definitely something I will invest in for the future as we will be doing a lot more of our own wood.

It’s down from the storm and we are working as diligently as possible to clean it up. However, it’s going to take time to clean it up.
