I had the best choir teacher in high school...I had pneumonia and was in the hospital and he brought the whole choir to the hospital to sing for me...I will never forget that!❤

standing with you was inspired by one of guys family members talking to him about their mental health

Guy was a school music teacher and he and his wife Jules run the Sebastian foundation that has women's shelters for victims of domestic violence and they run mental health programs through schools in Australia called the 'parachute' program. Beautiful family

Yes Guy won the first Australian Idol in 2003 the same year as Kelly Clarkson. It was so new to Australian audiences. But Guy has gone on to be one of Australia's best. He is still the most down to earth and humble man. These students got back at Guy when he took his wife & sons to a movie theatre it was his wife who helped them set it up lol. Worth checking out lol. The song they sing to him was written by Guy for his wife Jules. 'Love on Display'

Love it, Guy is such a beautiful human. This is a great one to react to as you see Guy's incredible voice, no auto tune or band to hide behind. Tho the video to Standing With You has some fantastic visuals.
We have had so many of these talent shows over the years, but only a handfull go on to be successfull and mainly from Australian Idol. A view from X factor, can't think of any from The Voice that have gone on other than Harrison Craig.

It’s when two Australian radio hosts get him to write song in around 30mins and then guy presents it to music executives.. it’s hilarious as shows how good Guy is at writing music

Yes, beautiful. Guy is a masterful singer/ songwriter. In my view - way up there in the small handful of the Best Of The Best! Yes, go back now and see his music video of this song, but to my ears; this raw stripped back version, just him and the piano in an echoey school hall, really showcases his immense talent. It also shows what a down to earth, humble and caring person he is. And you're right; kids are exposed to way too much information these days, that they're not equipped to process. It forces an uneven maturity, or facade of.
And, like you have just shared, I can't help but wonder how many of these kids are also struggling to deal with 'troubles' of various kinds, and whether they have anyone 'standing with them'...???
I will definitely check out the video of this song. It's tough growing up in this information age. I am glad i got to experience the better part of my childhood without cellphones. Its a difficult balancing act when it comes to my own daughter. Thanks again!

Lovely reaction, thank you, made my day. Guy is a beautiful human with an amazing gift, and we love him very much. On the subject of kids, I think they are exposed to too much information, too early these days. As kids, we weren't exposed to as many adult ideas, opinions and actions, we hung out with people our own age. Now it's everything, ever, in the world, all at once. I guess it remains to be seen whether it's better or worse. ❤

I’m not a huge Guy fan so I hadn’t seen this before, what a beautiful surprise for the kids.
When I say I’m not a fan it’s just his style of music isn’t really what I like but he is an amazing talent.
We all have our preferences, nothing wrong with that. This was a wholesome video.
