I've told this on other channels before, but worth telling again. I got the shock of my life when Guy from the cricket club auditioned for the first series of Australian Idol...and then he won it. So glad he found the right career path, because he was never making it as a cricketer. We used to train in the same net. Very keen cricketer, but frankly, can't bat, can't bowl. Hell of a nice guy though. Haven't seen him since he became famous, but it looks to me like it hasn't changed him.

Oh so glad you were suggested Guy. He is a phenomenal singer and songwriter. He sung Lupe's parts here, the verses with the movie references and cupid bit. He wrote the chorus and asked Lupe to add the rap. The official version, and live performances with Lupe are fantastic. But the rawness and emotion of this performance is just Soo good!
Guy is not only a phenomenal singer, but genuinely a beautifull human.

Hey bro it was me who recommended it. Thanks heaps for the reaction I knew you would love it. Guys vocals are so rich and he’s such a good song writer to and can play an instrument well to. Guy has a massive catalogue and been in the industry for over 20 years now.

I wish I could see your reaction to the original studio version with Lupe. Guy wrote the song and he was in America trying to break through there. The collab certainly got him noticed, but he never really could get anywhere , so he came home where we love and appreciate his immense talent. America's loss. If you go down the Guy Sebastian path, you will find only joy.❤

Oh I'm thrilled you've have reacted to Guy for us. The official video with Lupe is well worth checking out. Guy wrote this song but felt it needed a rap so he took a huge risk and sent it to Lupe & asked if he would consider it. It was an immediate "yes' & he even came to Australia to promote it etc. Lupe got his first ever number 1 hit and Gold & Platinum record for it. Guy is a singer/songwriter and he writes about 'real life' I love his ballads too. The day I fell in love with Guy and his music and talent.... was the day I watched him on Idol and he had reworked 'It's a Wonderful World'..... I knew then from the goosebumps, the tears.... he was an incredible talent..... and I'm glad he has stood his ground and followed the music/writing path he wanted.

Yes Wow! Guy is an Aussie Legend. A Master Lyricist, amazing Songwriter, genre skipping Vocalist with a voice of both velvet and steel. Won the 1st series of Aust. Idol, back on 2009, and been a judge on many more. The rest of the world HAS been living under a rock when it comes to discovering this fantastic artist, but waking up now.

You probably dont know the songs since Australia is so far away. I think the world forgot our Aussies can sing and have their own originality.
I have discovered many great Australian artists in only this short time. Trying to shine a light on them, however small it is, they truly deserve all the praise.
Another Aussie to check out: Matt Corby, singing his song "Brother" but make sure it's the live version on a radio station show here in Australia called "Like A Version". Just him and his guitar and you'll be blown away.

Guy did another song called “Linger” with Lupe Fiasco. There may just be lyric video, but there def is a live version of Guy’s that’s similar to this one, where Guy does an acoustic version. Guy also has a song collab with the Aussie Rapper Wale and the Hamiltones an American musical group. That has a fun official video. Mama Ain’t Proud he collabs with American Rapper TwoChainz., Lightening with Fatai, Lonely with IIIy,Australian rapper, and somebody already mentioned Whose That Girl with Eve, American Rapper.
I love rap! Will check some of those songs out as well.
Saeed I hope I am not posting this too late for you to see, another band you should check out that has a pretty wide range of songs like Tool is the band from the early 2000s called Staind, they have a lot of radio popular songs. One that’s good to start out with is called Mudshovel. It has a sick bass line you will enjoy!

Since you married your childhood sweetheart you should listen to an Australian legend Tim Minchin he is an amazing musical genius and comedian who also married his childhood sweetheart and he wrote a song to her called " if I didn't have you". If you like that then try "thank you god" but just so you know our Tim like most Australians is an atheist.

If you like Hip Hop, you will enjoy the Sebastion/Lupe version. As long as you realise it was Guy Sebastion ft Lupe Fiasco, not the other way around like it was released in America. American Music execs..what a surprise..Not!!

I have a reaction to that version. It truly was amazing! That video was also one of the video's i experienced sound/framerate issues. So apologies for the quality. Since then i upgraded my equipment.
This version is the best...the one with Lupe Fiasco is only an okay song because Lupe makes it not as good.
This one where Guy sings it all himself is mountains better.
