I looked it up - Intarsia is inlay but specifically refers to wood inlay (Italian). Inlay is the technique. I love that turquoise can be identified by the mine. There was a neat TV show 3 years ago called Turquoise Fever featuring some of these mines, how they found the deposits, collected the rough, worked it and sold t shows and to fill specific orders. Coco is famous for the long single strand of pearls.
Why do some of these crystals have a brown cast to them? Have they been damaged by heat? Can it be cleaned off? It must be very easy to break a crystal straw.

Interesting those carvings are made in Haifeng. I spent Chinese New Year with a friends family there in 2007.
