{{¥}} Agree and tell you how many times I did the first time it happened. I'm using a cheap speaker from a handheld phone or I wouldn't have survived that last note. Had any kind of Woofer been involved, would have been over for me. ;}
TIM HAS GREAT BREATH CONTROL. THE AUDIENCE STARTED CLAPPING AND DROWNED OUT THE FACT THAT HE WAS HOLDING ON TO THAT NOTE TO FINISH THE SONG. I love how EVERY time Tim goes to hit a low note he puts his hand out like "hey I am just going to lay this out here." He does that in concert as well and it's pretty darn cool. Not only that......he is YUMMY!!!
Methinks yer forgetting one thing. When he hits those rediculously low notes he puts on this face like yawn this is nothing and so boringly easy for me to do it. Which makes it way more awesome.
I love revisiting PTX and HF when they were babies on this show. Their voices have matured beautifully since. And of course this song with Avi in the mix is incredible.
I love that last note made all 3 judges jump to their feet! Tim seems so humble. Obviously there are very few people who could hit a note like that but he still seems genuinely flattered by their comments.
Epicesify Yeah, when they start calling you a crazy refrigerator and wise tree and are totally trying to figure out words -- you can just drop the mic and exit.
Just revisiting some of these old Home Free & Pentatonix performances. I forgot about Tim singing in falsetto for a second. How can the man be such a sublime bass and still hit such a beautiful high note. His voice is INSANE. I still love me some Avi too but damn Tim what a voice 😍
I come back a couple times a year to watch those two groups. And I saw them both in concert years ago. The Sing Off was is the only singing competition show I could tolerate, because they didn’t throw in the stupid “people who can’t sing just because we want to make fun of them”. I miss this show so much, I hope these videos never go away because Pentatonix and Home Free make me so happy
Every single time I listen to THAT LOW note I have chills, shivers, goosebumps.... well, whatever :) all over my body (especially the back of my neck)!!! Seriously, It's unbelievable.
miksimpatikwhitney If your speakers/headphones can handle it, Tim's lowest recorded note (D1) can be found at about 2.36 and again at 2.46 of Home Free's "Honey, I'm Good." Hilarious video . . . . SERIOUSLY awesome performance.
miksimpatikwhitney If you EVER get the chance to see them in person, do it. That note literally rumbles through your chest like you're sitting next to the speaker, and I was in the upper balcony. It's flipping crazy, and an amazing experience.
+Fiercer Chin On a side note, the a cappella arrangement for Home Free's 2015 update of "Elvira," featuring the actual Oak Ridge Boys (!), was made by Tim Foust, Geoff Castellucci and VoicePlay. So much BRILLIANCE!
I normally don't listen to anything but rock-n-roll, but, my brother asked me to listen and tell him what I thought of it.......I was blindsided, I couldn't speak for a moment....never thought I would ever hear an acapella group and love it...it's now part of my play list.
Tim actually has a 5 Octave range which for a true Basso Profundo as He is, is literally Amazing and very rare. The whole group is above the what the normal top grade of talent is, very clever arrangements with loads of natural ability, Home Free is a tough act to come near much less beat.
I'm always happy when UA-cam brings up this performance in my Recommendations - I know it by heart, but still enjoy it every time. For my money, this was the performance that cemented Home Free as the Season 4 favorite, with the contest being theirs to lose. Ben's comments were spot on: with this performance, Tim went from being a supporting singer to a virtuoso, letting the audience know that Home Free is more than just Austin and the Pips. The VP is perfect. You also knew this group was heading to the finals because of Ben's reaction - I don't think he got as excited about another performance all season.
I can't listen to Home Free without moving. They are the most awesome band I've heard in a long time. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner. All the best guys keep it coming
I ran across Pentatonix and listened to them a couple of times and then just didn't again. Some weeks (or months) later I found Home Free, just scrolling through UA-cam. I have watched (and listened) to them ever since! They are amazing! (Home Free-Just making sure everyone knows who I'm talking about.) I listen to new ones, and invariably, go back and listen to ones I have already heard numerous times, just because!💜💜💜💜💜
Same here…I’m not a big fan of Pentatonix. But they led me to Home Free, and I’ve never looked back! I adore their music and their dynamic. I’m definitely a seasoned Home Fry!
I never watched that show at all. I never knew it's how they got started I just heard them one day on you tube sing Mary did you know and said wow i love these guys and never pass up a song still learning so much I hope they never split up. Be like Oakridge boys do this forever and ever. Love them all.
These guys are just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. They are also so humble....they could go all the way! I love them and that Tim can sing or just speak to me all day every day!
When Tim went all the up at "like a child", that was a display of his higher range. But when he sang "but the fire went wild" in his mid range, he totally sounded like an old, legendary country singer. I can't remember his name though, but dang that sounded so classically country!
This is the performance that made me fall in love with this group. Love it. I am not really a country fan, but their voices and personalities reach out and grab you.
I love the look that Austin and Rob share right before Tim hits that super low note. They've got that "Oh, yeah, they don't know what's about to hit them!" look. It's hilarious.
Tim and I used to sing in a church choir together. One night we were out at karaoke and Tim came by and rumbled a low note in my ear. It’s definitely like a seismic event.
Ok so 8 years later, back in time now. Never heard this before and am I ever thrilled to get to see you guys do this fabulous rendition! John y Cash would love it, imo. :) And you all look mahvelous too, younger yes (hardly recognized one of you :) and fresh and utterly brimming over happy. Bravo!! I M so very happy myself, for you all. :)
Of all the performances of the Ring of Fire this is my absolute favorite. The combination of these voices are tops. To this day, April 19 2022, I have not heard it done better than this.
i watched this performance like a hundred times, but every time i heard those low notes it still give me goosebump much respect for people like Tim or Avi with that masive low notes
Ben's descriptions of Tim this season were priceless! And reaction from Tim when Ben said it left people saying holy $#%@# what was that was epic! I believe that boy turned a bit red there
I mean, only a handful of people can even belt notes that low, and he held it, cleanly, for like 6 seconds. I know jewel says it's an F# but I think it's actually a G. Either way, he's got some crazy range.
Tim turned red when Sean commented about how he makes the bass look easy and even more red when Jewel commented on his dancing "I sing bass and I daaaaaaaaaance!"
This was the moment when they realized the way to the women's vote was through Tim's low F#. They get the best reactions when he goes full out bass cannon.
It could very well be fine-tuned Relative Pitch. Given the fact that the note was so long, and It was the Tonic note, you could figure it out. If you know by heart any note, you can find any other.
Yeah I laughed at that lol. Though what some people do (what she might have done) was sung their lowest note really quick, known what it was of course, and just counted down from there. Or she could do have been told before hand. Or like you said she has perfect pitch.
She commented on a low note in "Life is a Highway" that she thought was an F# when it was actually an Eb. She might have relative pitch. But she was correct about the F# in this one.
Just noticed the look Austin and Rob share at 4:45. I wonder if that's part of the choreography, or if it's just those guys going, "They're going to *love* what's coming next."
I just got back from seeing them LIVE IN CONCERT (Might I add, it was flippin' FANTASTIC!), and they performed THIS SONG at the very end, and the ground shook when Tim hit the Gb1, and I could feel the vibrations in my chest! It was AAWWEESSOOMMEE!! :D
That was totally amazing and yet the best part was watching Tim and Austin revel in the judge’s accolades of the other. Truly good people who deserve the success they have achieved
After hearing average voices on the radio, it's such a treat to hear true talent like this. Tim - he has a true gift from God. There are very few men who can hit a note like that, with no slide, gurgle or growl. It takes hours of practise to be able to do it. Plus he's so cute!
I come here after someone commented on a Pentatonix video saying this group had a bass that could rival Avi and I was not disappointed!!!! Very impressive :)
lol. Bens reaction to the bass was brilliant. Tim looks like a cross between Josh Holloway and 'Sam' on Supernatural.. just to be fangirl shallow for a moment. Thnk u for the video and playlist.
I love Home Free! His deep voice gives me goosebumps all over. I love his voice. I could listen to him all day. I could listen to all of them all day. They are awesome. ❤❤❤
I discovered Home Free just recently. Oh how I love this group! Wow! Fantastic! I learned about them only recently after 2 decades! So refreshing! Keep it up guys!
Tim, Avi...they have natural Bass voices. And Contra-bass. Like some men have contra-tenor voices....soprano range. And some women have stellar-high range--- coloratura. This gives Kick-amazing sound-to a song. It comes out and blows you away because you don't expect this earthquake, tidal wave, solar flare, blizzard, tornado. In this case, a wonderful thing.
'Acapella Country Reggae' is a perfect way to describe this group
Tim's eyebrows on the last note made the note even better
If this aint the truest damn comment Ive ever seen...
I love Home Free. They continue to suprise
That part
don't forget the hand to keep it down :P haha
Oh he KNOWS he’s good!!!
*Rewatches Tim's last note 1000 times*
4:48
*breaks replay button* 😂 🤣
2000 at least
{{¥}} Agree and tell you how many times I did the first time it happened. I'm using a cheap speaker from a handheld phone or I wouldn't have survived that last note. Had any kind of Woofer been involved, would have been over for me. ;}
And 10X more for me, it was a once in a lifetime event
Why are all the basses in this show so damn attractive. First Avi Kaplan, now Tim Foust. It isn't fair.
Tiara Benvenutti And look at Geoff from VoicePlay! Gorgeous too! Nick's right, the bass gets all the ladies.
And Geoff
Dont forget Reggie from Afro Blue he is the best bass in season 3 for me 😅
Geoff (Season 4)
Reggie (Season 3)
Jo (Season 3 and 4)
Robert (Season 3)
Good too but not in singing except Geoff and Robert and Jo
the secret is in the hair, long hair = better bass voice
5:18 “People in Pasadena just called and reported a seismic event - that was ridiculous, man!” 😂😂😂
i will never get tired of hearing Tim hit that note ( - 0 - 0 - )
Agreed! And the look on The judges faces was priceless!
ikr, yoooooooooooooooooo xD
I'm 15 and I can hit that note IM SO HAPPY AHHHH
excuse me ^ I just learned how to hit growl notes lmao
Better than what I can do! I'm a soprano so I can't hit anything lie without sounding horribly out of tune!
Tim has such a country voice, and that bass, just DAMN.
the profile picture explains dat note
***** Yeah :D Totally my reaction when I first heard Tim sing!
*****
KaregoAt it's pronounced dat bass
TIM HAS GREAT BREATH CONTROL. THE AUDIENCE STARTED CLAPPING AND DROWNED OUT THE FACT THAT HE WAS HOLDING ON TO THAT NOTE TO FINISH THE SONG. IT SEEMS THAT THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SETS THESE GUYS OFF FROM WHAT WOULD BE AN "ALSO RAN GROUP. I LOVE THE HARMONY HERE. i love how they all look at the guy in the middel at the like "Hold on, shits about to go down" :D
What is really heartening is the obvious camaraderie. No jealousy. Just great pride whenever one of the group is singled out
I love how EVERY time Tim goes to hit a low note he puts his hand out like "hey I am just going to lay this out here." He does that in concert as well and it's pretty darn cool. Not only that......he is YUMMY!!!

Like it's about to go dowwwwwn. Hahahahahaaaaaaaa.
@@proudtobeageek95 I second that 😂
You know you've done well when you can make one of the judges on a show swear on national TV in front of millions of people.
There is nothing sexier than a deep base that reaches into your soul! Tim you rock & your Ring Of Fire is absolutely melting!
Your last name is Rupp?!
I love revisiting PTX and HF when they were babies on this show. Their voices have matured beautifully since. And of course this song with Avi in the mix is incredible.
With Voiceplay mixed in as well. All amazing groups.
Rob seems like an absolute sweetheart. That charismatic yet low key person that makes every group of people have a nice time when they're in it.
I love that last note made all 3 judges jump to their feet!
Tim seems so humble. Obviously there are very few people who could hit a note like that but he still seems genuinely flattered by their comments.
When one of the Judges is going off about seemingly randomly things, you got this in the bag

4:56 Tim's eyebrows just say: Do you like what you hear?
And the answer is...YES! 😜
Or do you like what feel, because you can't hear that without headphones or some shit.
I've never seen Ben so animated. Absolutely brilliant.
Man when he hits that note I have to plug in my studio headphones just to hear it because my speakers can't go that low!
I didn't realize it .. until I tried it - you're right ...it's even more amazing with headphones
Tim Foust's vocal bass drop and Adam Rupp's vocal reggae beat really gave me goosebumps. You guys really rock!!! LONG LIVE HOME FREE!!!

I prefer the version with Avi
@@river2282 absolutely!
Only thing missing was those Mexican horns. -- yeah I know, buy, I bet one of them could done a horn sound.

2023 and still watching them sing
Yep. April 2024 and I start every day with Home Free and friends!!
Didn't think I'd like anyone messing with a Cash song & I was right. I didn't LIKE it, I LOVED it 👏👏👏
4:46 - when the fellas on the right just look at each other like "this crowd is NOT ready..."

When Tim sing "and it makes a fiery ring" ugghhhh DAT BASSS

Saw them live recently Tim made the entire amphitheater shake with how low his voice got. Just incredible
Tim: goes low at the start
Everyone: damn
Tim: gets the center spot ready for the last note
Everyone: this man is about to end my whole career

Hello Nancy. How are you doing?
You know that you've won the contest when you can make the judge say a curse word!
Ben called pentatonixs beat section bitchin'
And then pentatonix won
So does Sara Bareilles to PTX. She said their performance was f***ing awesome. 😁
Looking at Austin and Rob smile at each other before Tim's final note. They knew the show was about to change.
Of all the performances of the Ring of Fire this is my absolute favorite. The combination of these voices are tops. To this day, April 19 2022, I have not heard it done better than this.

7:41. Nick was seriously awestruck. “Shook the floor man!” Cracks me up. I’ve got to go see them in concert.
