- The Sony A7SII and the FX9 both can record Gyro stabilization meta data to its video footage that you can then use in the Catalyst Browse software to stabilization the footage with amazing results. BUT there are a few things you need to know to make sure you are actually capturing that Gyro info.

You should be able to manually fill the lens data in the catalyst software. Also I am not familiar bit Gyroflow and SteadXP for example have lens calibration utility software.
Hey man! Love this video you put together. I'm actually working on a video on Blackmagic cameras that have potential hidden gyro data inside of them potentially and referenced sony catalyst as an example. You cool if I use just the unstabilized footage and stabilized footage clips in my video and give credit to you, link the video, and tell people to go watch your video? I like to at least check before I use other people's stuff. But needing a reference and would love to send people over your way.

Thanks Brian - I'm really interested in this feature because I do a lot of content creation as a graphic designer. Its often inconvenient to carry or use a gimbal for clips that will only be 3 or 4 seconds long, I only usually take couple of motion clips anyway. The camera I was looking at is the A7C and the Tamron 17 - 28 to do this with. I'm a Nikon D750 user but am not completely sold on the Z6II. I have never owned a Sony so it isn't an easy decision. There are a few more reasons why - unlimited recording - flip screen for vertical video on SM.

Hey Brian, Love your videos and thank you so much for doing these. I just purchased the FX9 and A7SIII and your custom settings videos for the FX9 were incredibly helpful. Just wanted to ask what microphone attachment you are using on the A7SIII and if you know if Sony has an off-shoe MI extension cable for the camera yet? I bought the ECM-B1M shogun mic and love it, but I need to find a way to mount it somewhere else so that I can use the top handle.
Hey Greg, thanks for the comment! The Mic unit is the Sony XLRK3M XLR Adaptor Kit and it comes with a MI Shoe extension cable so you can mount in different spots. I just don't know if sony sells that cable on its own.

I did some research and it looks like sony only sells it with that particular kit, but I ended up ordering an off-brand one so fingers crossed that it works :) I just want to be able to mount my ECM-B1M somewhere else, and I absolutely love that particular mic (I'm not an audio guy at all, lol)

I can’t do 4k 120fps and use Gyro stbalziation right? Only 4k 60 FPS is possible?

What Sony needs is for FX9 to record in 6K so that the gryo software can output a true 4K stabilized video.
Most of us just want a really great vlogging camera with good sound that doesn't cost us more than $200. I was on Naysay's videos the other day and the camera she recommended... the body alone cost $4000, one lens for it was another $1000, and the other lens for it was $2000. Bump that.
you want a "really great vlogging camera for $200.00? Sorry but $200.00 is the price of a really good dinner, not a good camera.

Think I'll just get a low end Insta360 One R without the 360 Part. Or an older GoPro.

If you are comparing to all restaurants and “great” restaurants you will be spreading much more then your 3.50 USD! With that said, I love a Big Mac! And I have had amazing 1 dollar tacos in Cali
