      Thank you for watching) I used Sony CF-Express Type-A 80GB and Kingston CANVAS 256gb V90 300MB/s SDXC UHS-II - Great Card and you can record up to 120p 4K in XAVC-S Codec

    Hey there, good video. Im using the A7C and Tamron 17-28 f2.8 and im currently figuring out how to use it for my vlogs. Without Catalyst browse I found the footage to be very very shaky. Im filming in 50 frames. Would you suggest to keep the shutter speed at 1/200 or even higher for normal daily travel vlogging?

    • @NOlimitsON
      @NOlimitsON  2 роки тому

      Hey) yes, for proper work of catalyst you’ll need at least 1/250 shutter speed, or better 1/400

    Hello, very good video!
    One Question: In which formats can catalist Browse be used, only in4k 24p?

    • @NOlimitsON
      @NOlimitsON  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! Thanx! It can record gyro data in all modes accept for 4K 100p-120p if I'm not mistaken, and remember that you have to set IBIS to OFF and crank up the shutter speed for it to work correctly (and also it does not work with 100% manual lenses with no exif data coming to the camera

    Out of curiosity, what settings do you use for focusing? Your footage seems to always be spot on with focus!

      Thank you)) I change settings from time to time, but foe most of shooting scenarios I use speed 5 and sensitivity 5

    thank you for this practical comparison, made with a simple and dynamic style. I find that, regardless of Catalyst usage, the videos shot with short exposure times (speed shorter than 1/125) tend to be more smooth. Videos shot for instance at 25fps with 1/50 exposure time with a gimbal (or with a tripod and panning with a fluid head) tend to stutter, they give the feeling of a succession of discontinuous images rather than a flowing video movement. This is particularly obvious with panning movements where the background is in focus. I see that in your previous videos you use 60fps at 1/125 shutter, and that seems to eliminate or attenuate this stuttering effect. This is important to me, as I was very much interested in the a7sIII to work with gimbals or doing camera movement, and I am always taken aback when I see all this "stuttering". Is it something that you have noticed in your practice, that higher shutter speeds give smoother results?

    • @NOlimitsON
      @NOlimitsON  3 роки тому

      Thanx for such an in-depth comment! In terms of stabilising the footage the rule with shorter shutter speeds always works the same - the shorter the shutter speed, the better results you'll get in stabilising in post. If we talk about 1/50 in 25p - you need to remember that there is a rule about how fast you can pan depending on a focal range to prevent strobing effect. Here is a nice calculator from RED which will definitely help solve this issue)) www.red.com/panning-speed

    what I found that 4.2.2 10 bit are not allowed in the free version ..not sure if that might be a reason for not getting a exported stabilized file ..let me try once with lower bit ..cuz i was using the cfexpress card so i was using that bit code ..anyways not sure if that is reason else it will be a setback for me as i cannot carry RCS2 every where specially when I am doing travelling vlogs .Any insight will be appreciated ..

    I can’t do 4k 120fps and use Gyro stbalziation right? Only 4k 60 FPS is possible?

    • @NOlimitsON

      Yes, you’re correct. 4K 60p has gyro data

    Very useful. I'm so glad you mentioned use-cases beyond walking in a straight line in slow-mo. ;-)
    My main use-case is shooting hockey games on ice (while skating) with a gimbal (ronin S), and I publish them in 1080p 60p. The gimbal does pretty well at stabilization, but there are still jitters which bug me.
    So, I'm guessing my best results would be:
    > XAVC S-I 4K (so I don't lose resolution with the eventual crop in CB)
    > Shutter to 1/400th
    > Process in Catalyst Browse with just enough crop to remove the micro-jitters
    > Output to 1920x1080 then edit in Resolve.
    Does that seem right?

    • @NOlimitsON
      @NOlimitsON  3 роки тому +1

      Thanx! Yeah, you are absolutely right! You can even use XAVS codec, I didn't see a difference in picture quality at all, but it's a little tougher to edit, but saves a lot of space))

    When increasing your shutter speed do you also have to increase your frame rate?

  • @shem44
    @shem44 3 роки тому

    Quite a bummer. It seems like you need to know you will be using the browser during shooting as you need to turn off the IBIS/OIS and use a higher than normal shutter speed. Most of the time we use stabilizer software during post when we discover the footage is not steady but it will be too late in this case.

      This really useful - I know and usually plan a movements shot - as my clips are no longer than a couple of seconds this is a great feature. I really can't be botherd lugging a gimbal around for 2 or 3 clips. I really don't think anyone would notice the difference in a 1 minute social media video.
