    MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!

As far as the history of these baits in Texas , the zoom french fry was the Og.
First I heard about it was in the early 90"s.Lake Fork guide David Vance throwing it on C-rig Post spawn and summer. Then the zoom centipede, Lake fork tackle ring fry. I was thinking Wilcox always liked the stud fry.

The plastic worm and it's different variations is probably the most successful bass lure ever.

They still make the zoom fry , Bass pro shop has them . Crig was great but i also loved a light splitshot on my home lake ( Canyon Lake TX ) , the water is super clear . I actually caught my pb small mouth on canyom 5.8 one if my favorite catches of my life . I also caught plenty of largemouth in the 5-6 lbs range. I still give it a go every niw or then . Neko rig is my newest way to fish it .

Baits like that are phenomenal on jigs. I’ve been experimenting with them after an outing where I ran out 3.5” swimbaits. All I had left in my bag were stick baits, cut it down to 3.5” threaded it on and kept catching, but was catching bigger fish. …. Now I carry ringed stick baits and chunks as my jig trailers. If the chunk isn’t getting bit I’ll throw on a ringed stick bait and catch them. I have one on my jig now and am catching them in and around the skim ice.

I couldn't even begin to tell you how many fish I've caught on the Zoom Centipede on a Carolina rig but growing up fishing the Calcasieu and Sabine rivers throwing them on a really lightweight texas rig is a killer... Something else you can do is tail weight them and rig it flat side down and they will glide backwards so you throw them close to cover or as far as you can under a dock then throw some slack in your line and it will glide the rest of the way so you can work the bait in place for a lot longer... Its a great piece of plastic!!!

The Supa Fry is about the only thing I throw on a Carolina Rig. Just recently stated throwing it weight less. Have caught a few fish on it. Throwing Morning Dawn. I like the other color that were not gonna talk about.

My tournament partner threw a Kentipede. He put a Chartreuse tip on the centipede. I started using the LuckEstrike french fry and caught more fish on that than any bait I ever used. They discontinued that bait.

I always have success with the ugly do nothing bait's around where I fish because I think the do nothing baits don't catch the angler so they are throwing something else while the bass are screaming at me saying I'll eat this bait all day! Lol love your stuff Todd, you always bring up topics that most ignore or not put much effort in and just the way you look at fishing is great and I've picked up a lot of stuff from your channel! Thanks Todd and it's much appreciated what you do!

  • @ChandlerWrites

I used to c-rig a fry but eventually went to the 4" ringworm to get a little more lift off the bottom from the curl tail (still a killer). Rigging a Supa fry wacky never occurred to me but it seems like a winner.

Man you told me a month or so ago to keep that color on the down low. LOL the other bait I think Watson was throwing is the zoom 4" centipede. Same length of the Supa Fry but half the diameter and not as soft. It's been what 2 or 3 years ago since you mentioned the Supa Fry on a video and it is my 1 and only Carolina rig bait. Also caught fish with it Wacky Rigged on a 2/0 Owner Weedless Jungle Wacky Hook with a vmc 8mm crossover ring shallow. Add a 1/64 nail weight and you can work it faster and a little deeper. This year I have had success wacky rigging on the same hook on a free rig setup in grass on Chickamauga and Watts Bar. Oh and also experimented with it with Matt Stephens Core tackle Hover Rig and it glides great and yes catches fish. Now since we can't talk about the color that won't be discussed, I would love to have it in the Fat Baby finesse, Caffeine Shad, filler worm, and dream shot to name a few.. I wish I knew someone at Strike King that works there that can maybe get that to happen. 😁

Last year on Toledo Bend, I was fishing a creek swing next to the bank and I caught a 3 pounder. I was fishing a chatterbait, dropshot and a jig and I couldn't get another bite. A guy comes up behind me had a centipede (same as the as Supa Fry) on a dropshot and caught a 6 pounder and a few 4 pounders on the spot I had just left.

Lake fork tackle ring fry is the original fry bait. Grande bass rattle snake is a knock off and a little different because it's tapered..
Supra Fry is a flat bottom version of the lake fork tackle ring fry.
Zoom centipede or French fry is different.
