I absolutely love that they're brining back the combat width based off the terrain. Many battles were fought and won using advantageous terrain when one army was a lot smaller than the opposing one. I always think it's BS that a country can march 100k over a mountain pass and use all 100k of those troops, and all they suffer is a slight -2 dice roll. I feel like in EU4 terrain doesn't play as a big a role as it should and I'm super excited to see how it works in EU5
Maybe an unpopular take, but I'm glad that ocean locations are somewhat limited. Sailing ships didn't roam at will like WW2 vessels. It was very predictable where vessels would be if their destination were known.
New Strategy, "The Italian Death Trap", as an Italian, you pull back and let the enemies cross the alps, invade, and siege, and then when winter comes, you spring the trap and attack/wipe their armies while they can't flee and can't be reinforced by allies on the other side of the alps. The strategy possible with these new terrain types and combinations is insane, and I can't wait to try it out
Awesome! I look forward for this game so much, zamn. Oh wait... 4:50 - isn't it Project Caesar?? 😏But seriously, this game takes mechanics from all other Paradox games and seems pretty different than EU series, like because of pops. This plus clearly different strategy - to release a bigger game instead of pushing as much as possible to DLCs - to me shows that it could be called differently than EUV, as a new separated project.
Which is specifically what they’re meant to do..? Real life harbors are extremely limited by geography. You can’t just build them on a random coastline.
@@ZlewikkTV You really focus in some specific provinces for naval/trade stuff rather than allowing you got lean into that anywhere you want. If I wanted to make a small nation into a trade naval power it needs to be in one of those, no artificial harbour available... @blue-d4g But you can build in a lot more coastline than the game shows you. There are more estuaries in european coast than what I saw. In the map only the really big useful ones are present but any river mouth was half decent and you don't even get a slight bonus on those.
@AdNecrias but you can build naval and trade buildings anywhere you want, just natural harbors makes it more efficient. How is that limiting? And I see it as an absolute win for some nations to have it easier thanks to natural harbors, just like it worked historically. It's like complaining a nation with artcic mountains having it harder to create a 'tall' country than med plains
Pdx: How many modifiers do you want? YES Like seriously we will have a bazillion modifiers for almost everything. Not sure if i like it and not sure if my CPU will like it.
A bit worried that playing smaller countries wont be as fun compared to eu4 with so many big nations around and that playing bigger nations will be painful with managing rebels civil wars etc
Nobody really plays big countries in eu4 too, deving might be more skill intensive like in , not just mana stuff. Big countries will also have to face significant problems with autonomy when conquering, , which can be a challenge

The extraterritorial tags in Iberia are holy orders like the knighs of Santiago, Calatrava...
Right!

Plus it was so fun making the Alps or the Caucasus into fortress walls.
So true, look up the battle of Morgarten. Swiss Confederacy butchered the Habsburgers in 1315 there using hills next to the lake.

It's a good change. It makes so much more sense for the time period. Also this time no shifting of the Americas northwards.
it’s a good take it’ll probably make naval warfare 100x less shitass than it was in EU4
Seriously hope they do this in CK3. Even crazier in that time period how boats sail over open ocean with no real penalty

I’m so sad they cut off Antarctica so we can’t have the mythical arctic-mountain-desert
This is gonna be such a good game. I’m so fucking hyped yo
The size of a country is directly related to its proximity to Germany.
With how more complex EU5 looks, I wonder if achievments like world conquest would be even possible

10/10 because I’m hoping for more Lithuanian flavor and such that. It was lacking in EU4 because of the periods covered.
hmm zlewikk does not always wear his hat. this makes it a special hat, and I like special things.
Video 2 of asking Zlewikk to play Passau
Any news about release date?
Harbours seem pretty limiting
Limiting how?

Скорее бы вышла 5 Европа. Хочется поиграть

Day 9 of asking to stop asking for Daily Videos
Ja mam pytanko, ilość twoich filmików zachwalających eu5 jest równorzedna ilości dlc które trzeba będzie kupić zanim gra będzie do grania??
