Thanks for another great video. Those Choya cactus. When I lived in Arizona, we called them jumping Choya cactus. They seem to jump out when you were going by and get stuck on you. They were devils from hell.😅
I love my state. We're finally getting some better weather up in Northern Nevada and it's starting to melt off at the lower elevations. The bugs are coming out quite a bit though. But best time of year for riding is spread over the next two months or so.
Hello, hello, I found an item of interest from Wal-Mart.... it's the Ozark trails version of the pocket rocket stove. I have no idea how well it works as I haven't used it yet, what I liked was the propane / butane adaptor & butane fuel can stand it came with . You can actually use the big green ( 1 lb ) propane fuel bottles if needed. So for $15 I got the stove , adaptor & the butane fuel can stand. I thought that's not bad for a back-up stove & duel fuel availability ( if desired / needed )... A person would need a base for the 1lb propane cylinder ( a bit big/bulky) unless you are using the flat metal bottom green cylinders. I thought their may be some value to that for $15.
You ever ride up in northern nevada? I know alot of cool places mainly from hunting up here that'd be cool to motocamp at. I'm stilling saving to a klr for myself so I can visit them without spending a ton of money on gas lol.
Nice ride... nice camp-out. Yup, too much luggage and maybe ill packed :>). I have gone to carrying fuel in (2) aluminum 1500ml bottles (Gives .8 gallons). Put them down deep in the luggage and they don't move around, don't leak and are practically bulletproof. Amz: Brand Barenx; Aluminum; Red 1500 Milliliters. $25. (Yeah, I have given up on Rotopax.)
I'm pretty sure I have that best selling Lynx tent from Amazon 😅. Not much stability high winds, even when staked but light, inexpensive and packs easy.
Just a recommendation. Take a serious look at line rider luggage. Easy, semi soft, clip on & off racks quickly. I know- I know very high $$. Your ride looks more like work instead of enjoyment but to each his own. Interesting desert ride video.
Great vid! The rally seems like a great sweet spot between the XT and KLR. I love my XT but need a little more juice. I had a 2006 KLR back in the day, but now the new ones with fuel injection, ABS, and the S model look compelling
I love my KLR but I won't take it deep into the backcountry solo riding, too much weight to deal with. The 300L was fine, suspension needs an upgrade for that kind of haul though. Appreciate you watching!
I'm always armed. Only wildlife I'm generally concerned about in the desert or forests is the two legged kind. Went from a G19 to a Hellcat. Smaller but ample rounds with a spare mag.
@@precipiceofgrind im in the same boat. Don’t want to so a cheap spring change. So saving up for a Rally Raid front and rear about $1500 but want a preload adjuster for when i do load it up. Keep up the good Videos.
Very true but I packed heavy intentionally. I want to do a multi day solo trip in the Arizona desert and I'm going to have to carry pretty much the same setup since I'll be covering a couple 100 miles of backcountry desert. Appreciate you watching!
Another great video. Would the DRZ been better on this one with the bigger tank and fuel a bit lower on the bike? Seemed a bit top heavy with all the gear. Looks like you had a great overnight with the solo camp.
It most certainly was top heavy! I can't say, I have no experience with the DRZ400. The Honda was fine, suspension needs upgrade for that kind of haul and I prefer the lighter weight of the bike. Thanks for watching!
Appreciate you watching! I have a new tail rack and some panniers I need to install on my XT250 then I'll be taking that bike out for deep back country moto camping.
No suspension mods yet. Yes, I replaced stock kickstand with an adjustable kickstand from T Rex Racing. It hasn't worked very well for me. The kickstand becomes a real problem when there is lots of gear on the bike.
I finally picked up a 300 l definitely will be doing suspension upgrades tried to make the stock worked but it’s lacking also installed T. rex kick stand I hope I don’t run into that problem great video
Yes, I mentioned I packed heavy. It was intentional. Trial run for a multi day solo trip deep into the Arizona desert I'm planning. I'll have to have all the gas and water at the very least. Wanted to see how the ride would be. Waiting for it to warm a little more. Appreciate you watching and lighter is definitely better!
Can't wait getting out on a camping trip this weekend north of Ash fork first one on my dr650.

You need a steering damper to help with the sand
Famous last words, “ not gonna be here another day “ 😂

Bad start turns into a great camp out.....to cold for me...Keep em coming. Garth
Appreciate you watching!

Going to be a buggy summer out there, can't wait for the cedar gnats! Appreciate you watching!

Very nice, that could come in very handy!!
Great looking tracks and scenery👍

Not yet but I certainly intend to! I love Nevada but all my riding experience has been South/Southeastern Nevada. Fantastic state.
Have a look at the Rally Raid side stand. I have had mine, ( Extended version with upgraded suspension), for a while and have had zero issues.
Ah that's right, I forgot about that one! Good looking out!
What other critters do you have to look out for. All I have is black bears to worry about here.
No bears in the low desert, love it! Mainly rattlers and scorpions in the sleeping bag/boots.

Cool vid..even documented the drop adds authenticity to the vid..shout out from west monroe la..your are lucky as hell to have a playground like that.
Just a recommendation.

Interesting desert ride video.
You're a braver soul than I. The fear of getting stranded would take all the fun out of it for me..
Doesn't bother me really, spent too much time wandering the desert on foot already. I always bring my hiking shoes with me in case I have to walk out.

Would be cool if you rode up on Mixup98 and his son target shooting in “Southern Nevada”!👍👍👍
That'd be way cool. I had to buy a Ruger 7.62 after watching one of his videos a few years ago! Thanks for watching!
Question for ya. Any wildlife protection firearm or non lethal? I carry a Glock.
I'm always armed. Only wildlife I'm generally concerned about in the desert or forests is the two legged kind. Went from a G19 to a Hellcat. Smaller but ample rounds with a spare mag.
Wow you loaded that CRF up!! you still on stock suspension ? nice job! can't wait for the next vid
Yup, suspension still stock and I really noticed it on this trip. Whenever I got extra funds I'll have to deal with it. Appreciate you watching!

Brother … try running the smaller diameter kick stand spring through the inside of the bigger spring. Should solve your problem. Best regards
I once got told that "better to have it and not need it" is the wrong approach to adventure motorcycling.
This may be true!
Love the cinematography but you could prolly do with half the weight for your overnighter! Might have fewer sand/gravel issues too!

Swift Kicker is the best kickstand
Yeah, I checked those out...seems to only be made for KTMs?
Cool , I subbed .
Awesome! Appreciate you watching and supporting the channel!

Very enjoyable video. Do you ever use the Yamaha 250 for moto camping if not why or can you compare since I like when when compare the two. thank you
Appreciate you watching! I have a new tail rack and some panniers I need to install on my XT250 then I'll be taking that bike out for deep back country moto camping.
What model of Alps tent are you using?
It's the Lynx model, great one person tent.

Do you have any suspension mods? You mentioned the kickstand. Was it replaced because it was too short?

Thank you for watching and enjoy your 300L!
Yup, you definitely don't wanna land on a cholla. Ask my buttocks how I know. Always carry a good pair of pliers in case of cholla emergency.
I know different areas require different gear but man it looks like you over pack. Maybe I'm too much of a minimalist.

Shave about rwo thirds of all that stuff you think you can't live without.
