I didn’t think body proportion matters in manga. For example in one piece all the characters extremities are longer than their body lol. Also, chibi characters always got big head.
Yes, that is partially correct. It really depends on the artist. However even when doing more exaggerating forms of characters like in One Piece, the mangaka/Manga artist has to keep in mind those exaggerated proportions. Otherwise, the artist will draw the character inconsistently. But yeah, it's all a matter of preference, for my style, I want to keep it semi-realistic.
