About the whole "shouting into the void" thing at the end; I actually commented on a year-/couple year-old video of Raycevick and ended up getting an almost instant, nice, reply. I wasn't angry or anything, but gave some constructive criticism since I noticed something in the video. Those couple replies have solidified my image of Raycevick as much more human than 99% of people I see on the Internet. Mandy has always been great though. Literally the most charming person I know, and I've never even had a conversation with him.
Are there any podcasts that have this level of quality of discussion? All I find is super basic trash with very little thoughtful insight into actual game design.
I can't believe I watched this whole thing in one seating. My arse hurts. Though it felt more like a Mandalore and Raycevick podcast with guest star Indigo Gaming. I think that's just cause they have very big personalities? Or at least had a ton to talk about to each other haha. Not that I'm complaining this was a great video. I could have listened more to this.
4:10:10 The cherry on top is that Halligan isn´t even too lazy to use his workphone, he simply isn´t allowed to use it for outgoing calls anymore, since he kept calling foreign numbers for no appearent reason. Probably chatted with alien enthusiasts from overseas... And yes, i know this reads like the story you told about the weird Pokémon fan. It´s even in the fourth hour, lol
Mandalore and Indigo sound so similar that I couldn't tell their voices apart while I was listening to them at work, lol. Great podcast with some of my favorite UA-camrs around!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. Really want to do these more regularly, but they take a bit of time to schedule and put together. They're a lot of fun, though, and I'm glad people like listening to these rambles as well!
Interesting thing about that one character you kill in the last of us is that I wanted to shoot him in the leg to incapacitate then instead of kill them... instead they flopped to the ground dead in a manner for fitting with a headshot... and then with the recent last of us 2 leaks... ya it seems more of the same if I had to describe it without spoiling it. Shame to cause up to that point I was in the flow state and then immediately my sense of immersion was broken
I listened to it on spotify, just here to say that this was my first episode and I really liked it! Great conversations, great guests and great chemistry.
Fun fact about MGS3. The End can also be killed earlier in the game. There's one cutscene where you can see him in the distance. And when it goes back to gameplay, you have like 5 seconds before he goes back inside, and if you shoot him with a sniper rifle, he dies, and the later boss fight just doesn't happen.
Honestly, this has been easily one of the single best episodes of a podcast I've had the pleasure to listen to. I spent across the day listening to it at work when I had the time and it was just so good to listen to. You three just were effortlessly interesting and the topics you bounce between were just great. Thanks for the show, I can see this being a repeat re-listen every couple months.
The DC comics MOBA that Indigo was talking about was called Infinite Crisis, made by Turbine Games who also did the LoTR MMO, if I remember rightly. Infinite Crisis was genuinely fantastic, a better newbie-friendly MOBA than Heroes of the Storm. It died because they took the traditional 3-lane map out of rotation in favour of their weird 2-lane huge-jungle map that was quite an acquired taste.
Been waiting for another podcast, listening to these while gaming is awesome and honestly sometimes it makes me wanna play the games that y’all talk about, definitely looking forward to more since I always re-listen to them on a regular basis if there are no new uploads on my feed
as a mouse and keyboard FPS player, I can say for certain that pulling a trigger and getting rumble on controller for shooters is so cool, and I wish there was a way to implement it into PC without it messing up your aim. Only thing i'm jealous of controllers for. Triggers and Rumble.
they talked about evolve for a while, so i'm gonna link this: www.reddit.com/r/mattcolville/comments/8o3681/evolve/e015406/ this is Matt Colville. He was the lead writer at Turtle Rock Studios for evolve, but i found him and his subreddit from his D&D youtube channel. In some of his older videos you'll see him say stuff like "our new game evolve just came out! i hope it does well!" and it makes my heart break.
That is really sad. I do want to do a video sometime about how and why Evolve didn't make it. I think I started a script years ago actually about the rise and failure of 4v1 games.
Really enjoyed this podcast. My only complaint (and I don't know for sure if it isn't on my side) is that the sound was very low. I had the video on max volume, and had to more than double the system volume that I normally use.
Hope it didn't come off like i don't enjoy the scripted content... I sub to you for your regular content because you and mandalore etc. Actually put a lot of effort into breaking down the things you review into details id never be able to notice myself... It makes for reviews that actually mean something and that's awesome... Please keep it up i could never do what you do✌🏻️
Well, I’ve learned a few things about game review sites, game development processes, and that whenever I get around to playing Deus Ex, the first level is bad. Keep up the good work, all of you!
I could picture a Duke Nukem game where you get tasked with an escort mission. And you can complete the painful escort mission like you're told to, or like, run the person over with a car and the game lets it happen.
43:23 A companion app for MGSV did exist and it did work with both MGSV: Ground Zeroes and MGSV: The Phantom Pain. I think it did basically let you somewhat manage your base and even send people out to get more resources or fight, but I think the app has since been lost to time now. As an aside, I still remember when DICE showed off that the Commander role from BF2 would return for BF4 and it was entirely possible to play an entire match as a Commander via the Battlelog app. I still remember playing a match as a Commander before needing to sleep for school.
If anyone is interested in how a modern treatment of Duke Nukem 3D might look, check out the Alien Armageddon mod for Duke3D. Its a very impressive project that is still being worked on and added to, with some amazing improvements to the classic gameplay and level design. Its brother project, the AMC TC, is a completely free massive single player campaign made to resemble the classic Build games, only on an absurdly epic scale. Go and give them both a look on moddb, they're incredible projects.
I know you're all quite busy and schedules are hard to align for this sort of thing, but I think it'd be great to have these wonderful gents back for another podcast. You have good chemistry and generate interesting discussions with apparent ease. The window's probably too narrow to time setting up a horror game topic episode for Halloween, but that's the idea that came to my mind, so just throwing it out there.
I'd love to have these chaps on again, but I can't promise that it would be anytime soon. Once my schedule settles down, I'll reach out to them and see if we can do another one.

@@Indigo_Gaming I get that, I guess you were a little too light-handed for my tastes. I wanted to present a little bit of solid evidence to show that you don't have to be so tentative.
I'm going to have to object to the criticisms brought up against Commander Shepard since there are two ways of playing the character, one of them being female and voiced by the fantastic Jennifer Hale. She elevates every single line of dialogue in the trilogy, lending Shepard a great deal of depth and nuance. By the end of the story, Shepard is a fully-fledged character who is no lesser than her supporting cast irrespective of the part you played in shaping her.

I came to Mandalore because I found that limbo of the lost review, but have been disappointed not to find more like it in his back catalogue (unless someone can direct me to some?). Interesting to see some nostaligia buttons being pushed, but would love things I loved to be mocked more when those inevitable issues of old, good games show up that at the time we just thought were what we had to live with. 2:27:50 Another game that did team shooter/action with one player being a commander like in RTS - Savage (Savage: Resurrection was an initially great attempt at remaking it but lack of support and dev refusal to work on anticheat killed it).
What are they going on about commander Sheppard was the most charismatic of characters. We'll bang, ok.
I was working on that game 2:51:42 we new we couldn't use crowd funding. The guy who pitched the game to GW sunk us on purpose in my opinion.
You should talk to critical nobody and ssethtzeentach
But... Sseth's right there? He's just on his meds.
Fucking awesome conversations. I'd love to see you talk to Matthewmatosis sometime.
Raycevick has the most ‘radio’ radio voice I have ever heard.
It truly is a thing of beauty.
Weirdly accurate
Actually, the next rumored Star Wars game IS actually supposed to be space combat focused 🤷🏻♂️
Came for mandy and ray, stayed for bodacious beard
21:11 I think he's referring to Spec Ops The Line.
I swear to God, hearing the comments about that flying halo 4 thing, I couldn't agree more
I would fully stop everything and just chase that little a-hole down cause NO. Like I'd prefer 30 crawlers over 1 knight and it
I'm surprised you three have never spoken before. For some reason I always thought you were all friends. Also: is Mandalore Canadian or American? I've been trying to figure that out for a long time.
@@lyadh0451 that still covers a veeeeeeeery big area.
I’m pretty sure he’s American. I think southern or midewest raised.
We've all chatted over Twitter, UA-cam and DMs, but this is our first live conversation.
Mandalore's American AFAIK.
At least until recently, he's lived in the USA, and I *think* he still does.
This was a great listen
Hey man where is yesterdays podcast i wanna listen :(
I'd suggest in future episodes have the video highlight who's talking.
