There are many rumors, but this clinches it "We're happy to announce Dark Cloud 3 for the PlayStation 4. We will release more information at E3 2015. -- Akahiro Hino". In addition they are considering bringing many games from the previous generations forward to the ps4, which means dark cloud 1 and 2 stand a very good shot of at the least being brought forward once more, if not revamped to some degree :P

One year later and my opinion of Dark Cloud 2 has only increased. We need an enhanced port to the Vita and Playstation 3/4. Then we might have a shot at Dark Cloud 3!
I know right? Unfortunately that will probably never happen. Dark Cloud 2 was an obscure gem. Sad considering how amazing it was. At the risk of sounding super old, they truly don't make games like this anymore.
It wasn't necessarily an obscure game. Dark Cloud was supposed to be Sony's Zelda Killer. It received a lot of press at the time. Dark Cloud 2 further refined the Dark Cloud formula. The reason we haven't seen a new entry is because Level-5 has moved on to bigger things. Japanese developers don't always like revisiting old things, especially if they may not be proud of them. I suspect the DC series being one of their first successful IPs might be one of the issues.
Actually if i remember correctly DC1 was actually the first game level 5 actually released, one hell of a break into the gaming market if i do say so myself. since then i have yet to see level 5 introduce any bad game so im not sure what theyd have not to be proud of. I do hope thats not the case personally, however i can also see why they wouldnt want to release a DC3 it could easily be one of those series that are amazing because it ended, if they drew it out to high heaven they could kill it and it may lose some of the magic it once had. With that said, thats not to say a new DC couldnt work if they didnt forget what made us once appreciate the origional 2. As for its obscurity, DC2 was a bit more obscure then the original but yeah perhapse obscure is to strong of a word, maybe under appreciated is a better word to use.

1st file i had Legend+ Supernova 2nd file i had Grade Zero+ Last resort 3rd Grade Zero + Sigma bazooka.... i frikin hate the grenade lauchers... that's why i tried it last...
You guys getting around 200 or 400 hours of total game time??? I got thru the WHOLE game, ALL Zelmite mines floors included; done main story chps 1-7, 100% all towns and areas, got 99% of scoops and donny prizes (missed 1, brave little linda)and around 200 ish photo ideas and at least gave max and Monica there each best God Tier weapon of each kind. (Max- best laser gun, smg, and grenade launcher, AND wrench and Hammer, Monica- 2nd best sword: chronicle 2, AND upgraded LOVE bracelet. Even got 5 star amulet but so low comparing to LOVE bracelet, synthesized it into LOVE. AND UPGRADED Steve Fully. And defeated Dark genie (AND metal flotsam) 2nd ending too. All this under 130 hours! On my Very first playthrough. Ever. 130! Yes and had a good bunch of people in train. 100 % all towns, and added decoration to run out of polygon space. Lost count repeating going thru Rainbow butterfly woods dungeon FULLY. had to grind for stats or resources. Thru whole woods around 30+ times.
I still have the game with almost all the final staged weapons im just missing the bracelets for monica... I think i was missing the armband called "love"

Dark cloud 2 is so underrated it does not enter a top ten underrated list. That means that it is not on those people's radar of underrated games.
One of the greatest on the ps2 if not in the history of gaming.
Dark Cloud 2 is near the top of my top 10. It's honestly one of the most underrated games of the decade if not the entirety of gaming's existence.

I always thought the Grade Zero was better than the LEGEND to be honest. Especially combined with the Supernova.
That's cause it is. Legend is high dps output, but the amount of time you need to wait to deal those hits can be ridiculous.

When I first discovered the REAL final chapter in game, I probably shat brix.
I never used max since his weapons didn't fancy me but monica I had nealy every weapon through grinding. the chronicle 2 at max stats was beast.
How nieve I was 10 years ago. Max can hold his own and I'm finding that wrenches and laser guns are the best

Hammers were too mainstream to be the team's blunt weapon.
