- Morro Bay is a coastal city in San Luis Obispo County, California USA. The town's most striking feature is Morro Rock, a 576 foot high volcanic plug which stands at the entrance to the harbor. Originally it was surrounded by water, but the northern channel was filled in to make the harbor. It was quarried from 1889 to 1969, and in 1968, it was designated a Historical Landmark.
Another attraction of Morro Bay is The Embarcadero. Along this shoreline you'll find charming boutiques, seafood restaurants, cruises and hotels.

Beautiful stroll for a lazy afternoon and a pretty unique place!
Great memories living there, as you were leaving the "T" dock, if you look at the last house on the bluff to the north is where I grew up.
There are not a lot of ambience videos for Morro Bay, so this is going to be my go-to video for that. This is me and my family's go-to vacation spot. I really wish there were more ambience videos, whether it be the coastline or bustling from the neighboring shops. I'm a sucker for the California coast, and this is a wonderful video.

Lived for 3 years in cayucos 40 years ago....we go back often and stay in morro bay...we always go to Montano de Oro and Estero bluffs...so peaceful beautiful and UNCROWDED..❤
I'm 46 and I used to go to the Shell Shop as a kid every time we visited Morro Bay. I'm glad it's still in business. I can't wait to go back here and Solvang!

Too bad you didn't turn left at the Morro Rock parking lot when you walked up - there's sometimes sea otters hanging out in the water close to the left parking lot.

any decent place you would recommend to stay while at Morro Bay? Someone suggested The Landing Hotel....still soliciting which one would be good to stay for the weekend getaway.
You should do some walking videos in the San Fernando Valley. There are cool parks and downtowns that would be worth checking out!

I hear seals but it looks like otters. Are there both? I didnt know there were otters too. I see the sign that talks about otters but I didnt see any signs for seals.
I think both. There are Sea Otters according to the info sign at 41:14 of the video.

Yes, California sea lions and sea otters are both at this spot. Sea otters are an endangered species and Morro Bay is one of a handful of places on CA’s central coast where they can be seen easily 😎

Geographically California is a very beautiful state with lots to see and do in its variety of terrain: coast, mountains (with snow in winter), foothills and valleys, as well as desert.
But yes the cost of living is high, and continues to go up. Rent and housing prices are outrageous, gasoline costs and auto insurance are sky high, the cost of water, electricity, and gas for your home keeps increasing, our government is a joke, taxes keep going up, businesses can’t afford to stay in business due to all the red tape combined with high operating costs for them that keep rising, homelessness here is the worst in the nation - homeless camps EVERYWHERE - even in nice areas (it’s a common occurrence to see them defecating in front of businesses and shooting up using meth and heroin). Also theft, drugs, and other crimes are off the charts and the governor just keeps throwing billions of dollars in taxpayer money at these problems but nothing changes in a positive way it only keeps getting worse. Sorry for the lengthy comment and sounding negative, but it’s all true. I’ve lived in CA for 45 years and work in law enforcement (25+ years) and used to love this state so much and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, but now I can’t wait to retire and move to another state. No doubt CA has some very beautiful areas, Morro Bay being one of them, but I thought I’d share the “other side” of life in this state for those who don’t live here or have never visited.
