Pismo Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, located in California's Central Coast. Pismo beach was once known as the "Clam Capital of the World" due to the abundance of Pismo Clam (Tivela stultorum) on the beach.

I grew up going to this beach every summer / all the time (in CA there isn’t really seasons, you can go to the beach whenever).
This is where I realized my love for the Pacific Ocean.

Stayed in a hotel near the beach many years ago and ventured down the sand to some caves reminiscent to those in the film monster on the beach or similar title. Many thanks for another great video. Stay safe and have a great holiday. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
The hotel is great from the opening scene. Has an old elevator that is still used and the owner is a really nice guy
Unlike the previous owner Larry Bordan, who saved the place from demolition and brought it up to code for earthquakes. He was a real grouch though. Religious fanatic, the hateful type

Yo soy de Venezuela (pero desde 2016 vivo en 🇺🇸), pero en 1993 conoci a mi mejor amiga en California, y ella vive a 10 min de Pismo Beach, y fue esta la primera playa que conoci en 1994 cuando fui a visitarla a ella.
Es un pueblito super 😎 y lo he visitado unas cuantas veces más (1994, 2000, 2002, 2003 y 2021) y cada vez que voy me gusta mas.

@@stillnotwoke They're developing it and trying to class it up a little -- kind of like what was done to Catalina Island over the last decade. Makes it cost prohibitive for some so maybe the locals are hoping it re-directs the rowdy crowds to Grover? It's a Love/Hate relationship with the central valley. Love in that they keep the service businesses in service, hate in that a fair majority of those central valley people don't treat Pismo or the people that call it home with much respect. It gets trashed and the section south of Grover gets thrashed. Sure, they probably think we're snobs and we might think they're slobs but in truth, SLO county locals who don't live in Pismo rarely go to Pismo. We go somewhere else and I'm not going to advertise where. Yahoos can have Pismo in the busy months, we'll stay out of your way ;)

It’s unlikely a suggestion that the area is like Bakersfield. If Pismo was like Bakersfield, why would so many people from Bakersfield pay so much to visit?

40 some years ago we caught big Pismo Clams in the cold frigid winter waters and made clam chowder from them.

I use to sit infront of the plaza and pan handle i was like 12 food wasn't easy to get
I grew up surfing Pismo the old peir the carnival in the parking lot .It turned in to a pit ugly know all the freaks from the valley and there 4 wheeled quads destroying the dunes with there search and destroy mentally
Randy, being part of a family that's lived on the central coast for close to two hundred years it's the business owners who have campaigned to turn our central coast into just another carbon copy of L A. And Santa Monica phoneyness! New comers think it's great because they never experienced what it used to be like! And it's videos like this that will bring more outsiders to an already overcrowded California! Locals don't want growth only business owners do!
Bruh I had bad anxiety when I went to the bridge where the ocean was all surrounded by me it’s because when we went to pismo a volcano was irrupting I’m not sure if u guys saw on the news but yes it was and the waves were crashing everywhere and I had bad anxiety-
Im a local and Pismo is a ghetto tourist attraction spot lol. The locals know where the nice spots are and is not here

Clams you eat in Pismo are not local. Ask the restaurant owners and fish markets, starting at Splash Cafe. Too many people took illegal juveniles and they grow very, very slowly. This is basically the San Joaquin valley, and high crime areas like that during tourist season. They even bring their disobedient junk yard dogs they have to have at home and loose them on our beach. They're not controlled. The police will only come out °after a serious bite, so your kid is s.o.l. No, sadly they don't pick up the dog 💩 any more than the diapers and trash. Locals have to clean up behind them. Its heart breaking to see what how they destroy the tide pool animals, especially anemones. It used to be respected. This disregard is wrong. We've got to change this! It's so worth a little TLC.

Oh, they're here, but mostly in neighboring Grover Beach. Pismo is not so hospitable with their expensive new hotels and renovated pier area.
Pismo is too zooed out and there is Noooooooooo Parking anywhere.

Please do not travel during a pandemic. Especially do not go to a town with no hospital and lots of grandparents like Pismo Beach. Wait until it’s safe.
