I think (and we'll never know) that Debbie Reynolds finshed sixth, Madonna finished seventh, Meryl Streep finished eighth, and Courtney Love finished ninth. That would be my guess on how the final vote totals went. Thoughts?
Think of the shameful, ineradicable stain on the Academy we'd still be facepalming over today if Madonna had been nominated for "Evita" instead one of the five women who made the cut for Best Actress. An amazingly strong category that year and next. In this millennium, the lead actress competition has only approached those high standards twice in my opinion (the 81st and 83rd Oscars). I know Courtney Love's performance still has many ardent defenders, but there wasn't a moment where it didn't look to me as though she was Trying Really Hard to act up a storm. I'm glad she didn't quit her regular gig, otherwise we might not have "Celebrity Skin" or the unfairly trashed "America's Sweetheart" album. If only Cher had done the opposite. Ditched her "music" career and stayed in movies, we'd have been spared from so many unspeakable aural horrors.
I don't think Roger would be describing Thornton's performance as "a completely original piece of work" if he remembered Robert Duvall in a better film called "Tomorrow"

Was sad Debbie Reynolds wasn’t nominated. I loved Mother.
Cracks me up!
Madonna was wonderful in Evita. In a lesser year she probably would have been nominated. But it was so competitive.

Hey thanks for uploading these, but I gotta ask, where’s the full show?
@@sonnyblack0870 Elsewhere on UA-cam already. It was the week they reviewed Absolute Power and That Darn Cat.
Love should’ve gone Supporting. She would’ve easily been nominated there.
America's Sweetheart is an amazing album. Thanks for bringing that up.
He called Madonna a Loser lol

I disagree with you totally. Billy Bob Thornton gave a thrilling performance in Sling Blade. You should go and watch it again.
That's a non-sequitur. I didn't say otherwise.
