I would like to warn against using misleading or confusing terminology about immigrating and visiting permits. "Working visa" is a very problematic term since it's very unclear what it means in Finland. Visa is always a short term visiting permit e.q. visa for seasonal work. Some foreigners use terminology from foreign countries using "work visa" as a synonym for a residence permit for work. That is misleading since visa and residence permits are handled by different national agencies and have many significant differences. They are simply two separate permit categories for different purposes. Mixing these two is highly misleading.
The visa allows you to travel for a short time visit But some people apply for both visa (D visa) and resident permit to the immigration during the processing of their document. In that case their visa arrives their home country while their residence permit is sent to Finland. They can then use the visa to travel to Finland and collect the residence permit upon their arrival. Nevertheless in this case what I meant to say was a residence permit. Thank you

But people benefit from practical advice because getting a positive decision to a permit application is different from having an accepted way to show proof of that. Even though saying details like this seems irrelevant and even petty, it can help to make sure people understand and know useful details. Visa is usually attached to a person's passport in a Finnish mission. If a mission is easily reachable this can be advantageous, if timing is critical. Proof of a residence permit is delivered as a residence permit card. Delivery from Finland to the applicants home address takes some time. But if the applicant has got a visa allowing entry to Finland, then the residence permit card can be delivered to an address in Finland.
