TALK ABOUT IT! My old man used to make me clean the oven with a scrub brush and a face mask, if my shoes weren't shined or my shirt wasn't pressed properly. In the tai chi classics, they call it steel wrapped in cotton. Cleanliness is Godliness.

+Real Men Real Style Hey Antonio! I'm guessing they're Washington - Navy! I'm in the British Royal Marines Cadets, and joining the Royal Marines next year. I'm attempting to get promoted to a rank most people get to in a couple of years, but I only have 7 months. I'm half way there already after only 4 months, but I have a long ways to go yet. I have a number of weeklong camps this year, and a some help with my Uniform would be a huge help!
Keep up the great work, and thank you for your service!

5 Style Tips I learned in The Marine Corps.
1: Tuck your T-shirt into your blue jeans. Extra points if you are wearing a Web or MCMAP belt.
2: Combat Boots with your jeans. OR Corframs if it's a formal event
3: Accessories - Dog tags outside your shirt, G-Shock watch, Gas Can Oakleys. You can't go wrong if it's from CIF.
4: Roll your sleeves like cammies, tuck your shirt with shirt stays and if you are really good to go, blouse your jeans.
5: Drink alcohol, a lot of alcohol, and make sure to tell everyone you're a Marine.
    or fight someone.

Also, ever notice how much more attractive officer's wives and girlfriends are on average compared with the enlisted's significant others?
I noticed that a long time ago as a Lance Corporal. It wasn't just the pay difference. The Officer's dressed better, carried themselves better, spoke better, we're generally more cultured, more educated etc. Most of the Officer wives I've noticed were intelligent, less than crazy women, too

As a Mustanger, you are absolutely stop-on. Also, as Marines, we have a "habit of 'eyeballing'" our Marines and their uniform. It is amazing how we can spot a discrepancy a mile away, if you will. A habit I learned during my grunt days and have carried it to the day I retired. Great habits are truly difficult to break, so, instead of breaking them I have continued to this day with my civilian attire. Semper Fi Marine

This is what I'm talking about right here. Men sharpening men. Only men can raise boys to be real men. Not like the generation of hypersensitive sissies, who can't take someone speaking straight words to them. Bunch of broken wristed mamas boys who jump when you say boo! Keep up the good work Marine. Semper Fi.

Perception is reality. Absolutely fine points as usual. Always take pride in your uniform. Back in 6th Marines we always had our French Fourragère which really set us apart it's the same here in 5th Marines also. My Marines would spend hours on hours on their uniforms because the Fourragère was a symbol that you were infantry and they'd be damned if they didn't look good. Correcting each other was simply brotherly love. Why this hasn't translated to the civilian populace is a shame. Correcting someone's uniform is a sign that you care what they look like.
On a side note a man with a squared away room speaks volumes. I'd always keep mine looking (and smelling) like a hotel room to the point where I was no longer inspected. It was common for me to simply not be at field day inspections because my room was always clean. A clean environment feels better and your superiors will only think better of you.
Lastly, dress sharp on liberty also, people will notice.

+TheActiveAssault why would a self respect American wear a foreign dress piece?

    • @TheActiveAssault
      @TheActiveAssault 8 років тому +10

+Beryllium The Battle of Bellau Wood WWI. 5th and 6th Marine Regiments were awarded the exclusive right to wear the piece for their tenacity and sacrifice. They also renamed the entire forest after the Marines.
If you ever see a Marine with one on he'll have to be currently serving in the 5th or 6th Marine Regiment (I've served in both).
Think of it like you think of the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the French. But this one was paid for with the blood of Marines. Semper Fi, it's an honor to wear it.

Hi Antonio, I have to say, I am very pleased to see a fellow former Marine doing what Marines do best, Mentoring his fellow man. This channel is a fantastic way for any man, young or old, to get back on track with his masculinity. You cover everything a man should know or wants to know, big and small. I watched a couple of episodes before stumbling on to this one, and I must say I knew there was something familiar about you, turns out you are a fellow Belleau! I have been out of the Marine Corps since 2006 and recently found myself making another major career change. Your channel, along with your online services is an excellent starting point as I make this new transition as a business professional. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this channel together, I will surely pass it on to all that I know! Semper fi to both you and the other 6th Marines listed here, I served in 2/6 from 98-01!

often i was mistaken by others or confused for the boss. this is for exactly the reasons you have pointed out. when the time came i took his office. i still remember the blues check befor inspection as one marine looked over another (like looking in a mirror ) detailed preperation makes all the difference as you will be inspected! this carrys over into life as were all inspected on a regular bases, even if we dont know it. you made my day. im still a sunday marine. 5 shirts 5 pants ironed & hung body hair & nails ready to go. all this from the Marine Corps has served me & my family well in life. thanks for a great video. Semper Fidelis .

One of my friends went to Annapolis to become a commissioned naval officer. They had to be full time university students as well as military trainees,so time was very tight. One of their tricks was to use windex to maintain the shine of their shoes. This only worked for brand new shoes. Once you got a scratch on one of them you had to either polish them to a spit shine or buy a new pair. He said that fist fights could break out if you made the mistake of stepping on someone's shoe during the changing of classes. Once they got past their freshman year, and were no longer under the tight scrutiny of the upperclassmen, they would sleep in sleeping bags to save time on making their beds.

Answer on the shirt stays question.
Great video Antonio, with most of the points I am already familiar with, but it is always great to refresh the memory. I especially liked the history of boutonniere.
Now about the shirt stays I think it is the Washigton - Navy shirt stay. It would a great add to my wardrobe. I am a student with an athletic build who always struggles with keeping the shirt tucked in. It will help me to get through my day without having to go to the bathroom after every class.
    Cheers, Andrej.

+Jay's Days Thanks, Jay! Yeah - shirt garters allow you to run, walk, even do pull-ups without your shirt ever coming untucked.

Good video. I learned how to dress professionally from Embassy duty. The Marine Corps instills many dress hacks. Pocket squares, shined shoes and tailored trousers make a huge difference in dressing professionally. I used shirt stays in the Corps, in Law Enforcement and in post retirement. They work.
