Real Men Real Style yes, your first military video about the history of uniforms in the Marine Corp inspired me to up my style game and wear my own “uniform” everyday.
One of the things I carried over from my Army days to civilian life and something I still do is check my clothes when dressing up.I'll check for loose hanging threads that will hang on new garments and snip them of with scissors. This was what we used to call 'gigs' during inspections when I was in the Army. Also keeping my clothes neat in my closet is another thing I still do after 50+ years.Old habits die hard!
The proudest of my days is when I was a Doc for my Marines. Next month one of my old units is having a reunion, some of us have known each other for 30 yrs. I even have a Marine General who I served with when he was a Capt that I call a friend. When I go to the VA hospital, I notice how Marines recognize each other with a Semper Fi to each other and I dont see that with the other services. Semper Fi Doc
I went to my nephew's graduation at MCRD and was so proud of him and seeing the other young Marines. Being an Army LTC at the time I had a spirited conversation with a couple of Marine Officers and agreed that the Army's Basic training could take some lessons from Marine Corps boot camp.
Outstanding clip . . . as usual! By the bye ...all the guys in my family were Marines. So ...all us kids grew up as, Sub-Marines!!! Sometimes I just crack myself up!!!
This is one of the best videos I have seen from you so far . Perhaps everyone who has served in a branch of military life , going from basic instruction boot camp to an honorable rank with service medals and a huge bag of experience can understand this one .. I served in the French Foreign Legion , ten years in a tough , rigourous and presentable unit of men . Two days after my return to civilian life I found myself in a professional sports team , again wearing uniform , representing the team image and being expected to show strength of character whatever the culture , language or traditions of the country we worked in .. 8 years later I became front of house at a private upmarket country hotel .. once again uniform requirement to perfection , outstanding social skills and presence expected .. it is true that most ex service personel carry these qualities with them and don’t even notice the subtle differences between someone who is ex forces and someone who is not ... the service never ever leaves you , you leave it ....
20 years Army. Outstanding advice. Way too many civilians think the military and killers, when in fact this is the kind of gentleman that the military produces. People conscious of their place, conscious of themselves and conscious of those around them.
I learned a lot that I use "everyday" by the Swedish Air Force. How to properly clean a room and how to properly make your bed are two things many civilians do not think about being taught by the military, but it is. But I learned so much more, some things with applications in civilian life, some not. But the "mentality training" is universal.
So I am an executive leader with my company. Your advice is absolutely correct. My success as a leader is directly proportional to the skills of those who work for me. It is my job to make sure that they can all do their jobs as efficiently as possible. I’ve risen up the ranks to reach this position and would not have been able to do so without the relationships I had developed over years valuing and supporting the work of others who in turn valued and supported mine. A true leader is a servant to his team, and his or her success is the team’s success. And mentoring others with the skills one learns creates succession as one is able to delegate to others and take on more responsibility allowing one to rise higher within the enterprise. Spot on advice Sir.
Excellent information in this video. Love the clarification about why impeccable dressing habits matter. Going to keep this video bookmarked so that instead of my trying to explain, I can forward this video to men asking advice. Covers a lot. Brilliant
Far away the best men's LS channel on UA-cam. Your military experience influences your ability to relate to a diverse audience (unlike the others that you referred to) Although the others are effective with the wannabe crowd, RMRS is markedly superior in reaching out to to those of us who are travelled and seasoned.
Antonio, I am the Marine for Life representative in Western NC. I am a former CH-46E pilot who is in the IMA reserves and help transitioning Marines to find jobs when they leave the Marine Corps. At annual training we had 12 tips for transitioning and I actually recommended some from watching your you tube videos. I will post this link on my Linked in site to assist my Marines in preparation for getting out. I was going to write you to request a tip video for transitioning Marines and vets (both Male and Female) but I am glad to see that you produced this one. Semper Fi Leatherneck and I appreciate what you have done!

Hey Captain, what you said about character is right on the money. I had a saying I still use today, Mission, Men, Me. Do your mission, take care of your men and worry about yourself last. I've had people that were under me in the military and employees that have worked for me tell me they always could count on me to take care of them. That means more to me that the promotions or the medals. Semper Fi Marine!!
antonio so you were an infantry officer wow that’s awesome. I never knew that was your mos. I am shipping to boot camp july 15 , 2019 with an infantry contract. You should make more videos on your time in the marines. Keep up the good work!
This was a great video. I definitely took a lot away from the military after my EAS and went into the business world. Especially things like perception is reality and know yourself and seek self improvement. Thanks for sharing this video.
First of all...respect for working in the force. As for dressing well, yes it does matter....I'm an IT professional and I've been noticed and complemented because I was dressed in crisp formals...and the VP did notice and he would sort of acknowledge it. So yes dressing well at work does help.
So many great Gems in this video. Please continue to give us a view into how the Marines made you a better man. I've learned later in life that (Organization, attention to details, commitment) really are the bedrock of being a true man. Awesome video Antonio.
Late to the party but fallen angels were some of the best officers I ever worked with. One of the best men I’ve ever known was a fallen Harrier pilot who became the S-4 in my battalion. Talk about character building and testing-you go from the literal and figurative pinnacle to being shoehorned into hard-to-fill billets in less desired locations. It’s really tough to maintain a positive attitude and not become jaded or cynical. It’s a credit to Antonio and all the rest who persevere and thrive in those situations. Semper Fi!
I always wondered about your military history! I tell my fellow marines about you and I never knew too much about you except your forgotten rank story and your deployment, so happy to get to know you a bit better!
@@RealMenRealStyle sir I mean that we have already your videos to do PhD in style, but more such videos which practically contribute to success. For example that previous lie detection video.
5 years USMC best rank was when I was a Cpl...It motivated me to be my best because I had a squad of brand new ofc’s and lcpl’s that looked up to me. As their squad leader I had to lead by example on how to be their best selves. Always made sure my weapon gear and uniform was always squared away. I’ve taken that into my civilian career...ooh rah to all the Marines on this page. Esp the 29 palms 03’s
Just wanted to say I love your content. You remind me of that one drill sergeant that breaks character and schools a young joe from the sidelines while still maintaining a certain level of intensity.
I work a side gig in hardware. The uniform is just a T-shirt, jeans and if you've been in long enough a baseball cap. On my cap I wear a pin of my father's service branch. It's funny because customers (even Marines) just assume by the pin and being squared away that I was in service. (Total 4F case.) Details matter!
Excellent video. Keep up with the quality of your videos. Your video quality has increased exponentially in the past 3 years or so. In 10 years time, your video quality will be better than the quality of James Cameron's titanic movie Also, I agree that a man looks great in a (pilot) uniform. The current BA double breasted pilot uniform looks professional (although BA will soon change this uniform using the guy that I believe works in Saville Row). I'm only a 16 year old and I have already learnt so much from your videos. I have tried to apply what I have learnt from your videos on my school uniform and it seems to have gone well. I will carry on learning from your videos while you upload more videos in the future.
Hey Antonio. Great video. Being a prior military vet, I agree 100% with these life lessons. Quick question, where did you get that kick ass suede jacket you are wearing in the video!
WOW!You were a Marine, those politicians who put you and other men like yourself in harms way are not worthy of you or your service and we the people can only stand in admiration and awe as to your service. The willingness to die for the great country that is the USA is astounding and breathtaking for someone who has never put their life on the line. For this alone you have my admiration.
You nailed it. I wish you could publish the MCO on uniform fit and tailor guidelines for more to see. I think more of you, your experience and lessons from the Corps would be great. But truth be said, if you really want to be a Marine, well you have to earn that title. Sadly however, I see a real diminish of pride in one's appearance now days. Compared to back when I was in. We had our share of soup sandwiches...birds that don't fly... but I see a bigger change sadly. Horrible attire and pride out of uniform and in civilian liberty attire. So yeah bring it into your programs because of all you said in this program. Semper Fi Marine.
