Just picked up a Custom Camber myself, awesome vid! Take another look at the reference stance again on the sidecut.. I measured mine up and it is 1/2" setback from center. Also, the nose is 1.5" longer that the tail (outside the contact points). Cheers!
Good to see you Guf! I bought the 154 wide camber a few months ago and finally rode it last weekend. Had to buy another one after getting the first one stolen at my local resort. Love this board. All the best man 🤘🏽
I have a 156 custom camber this thing is hella stable at high speeds great for groomers and decent in deep powder overall good for a hard charger overall easy to carve with this thing 10/10
As a huge burton fan I always wanted a custom camber. I finally got it but it is still in plastic. Hope the resorts will open sometime and see what it is all about that makes it so epic and iconic. 🤞 A detuning video would be helpful. 🙏
Great review! I've always been curious about the Customs. I've ridden a Burton Joystick for the last 8 years and have loved it and the hybrid rocker/camber. I'm considering trying this Custom on the Flying V setup. Love that playfulness, easy presses and butters, and the pow float of the rocker.
Rider from the early 90s, rode the first run of Burton customs. Just got back into riding after 10 years out. After riding a few different boards, riding the custom felt like coming home. I went with my regular 156, but am really curious of riding this shorter. I also ride a 148 superpig. Eventhough this isn’t a volume shift board, it holds weight/stays stiff really well. I can imagine getting on even the 150. I’m just bummed because I expect the lightning bolt won’t be on next year’s version. But I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a little miracle.
Guf have always loved your reviews and input. I am currently on a Burton Process Off-Axis Pure Pop and looking to jump up to something that still has some forgiveness but can handle steeps and charging when I want to. I ride the mountain like a park but don't hit the park much. I was considering this ride in true Camber, as well as the Salomon Ultimate Ride. Which of the two would be better? I like camber dominate but don't want to get bucked around all day. Also planning to pair this with the Step On system.
Yoooo!!!! Thanks for reaching out! I'm going to throw you a curveball. Look into the the Salomon Dancehaul and Burton Deep Thinker - they both have a good amount of camber, but they have a more directional shape that will compliment the Process better. But... if you had to get the Ultimate Ride or Custom Camber, I'd go with the Custom Camber.
Long overdue for a new board since I’m still using a millennium three. Trying to decide between burton custom camber, never summer proto synthesis, and arbor coda

I used to be able to throw 7s.. landed a 9 one time but fell after.. my claim to fame.. thanks in advance man.. glad to see you on the tube.. giving the subscribe!
I am going to buy my first board soon, I have only ever rented and gotten a 160cm. However, I want to start riding park. How much shorter should I go? 6'1 180
Trevor, I'm the same height and weight as you and I have been riding for a few years. I like the 157 - 159cm boards. If you are riding the park mostly I would try to go on the shorter side. This will make it a little more playful.
Hey Guf I got a question bro! I'm about to get my new deck but I'm stuck between the custom, the ride algorythm, the hometown hero, and the yes standard. I was predominantly camber but I also want a little catch free help to really progress my switch riding this year. What do you recommend? I ride all mountain freestyle and will poke around in the park just a little but I do ride backcountry jumps as well. Thanks man!
Yo! Solid question. The RA and BHTH are pretty direction and even though they're amazing all mountain boards they may not be as good for dialing in your switch riding as the Yes Standard. The Standard may rise above the Custom for you because the Standard has 3mm of contact point rise - nice and catch free and it still has a good amount of camber between the feet. I've been on the Basic and Typo a lot and I'd have to say Yes really has their profile shapes dialed in.
@@gufgear8985 awesome thanks for the reply man! I actually couldn't wait haha I just bought the RA and some C-8's after watching your ride binding overview. My last deck was a Ride DH and I really liked it but it was straight camber and stiff as hell so I thought maybe with the hybrid and a little softer flex it wouldn't kick my ass switch haha. Thanks Guf I have been watching you forever man, can't wait to see what content you bring on your own but I know it will be good!
@@gufgear8985 I also thought the 162 standard might be too small for an all mountain board for me and the 167 too big. I'm 6'4" about 230lbs. I will probably get a smaller park board later in the season but I figured around a 159 160 would be good for that.
@GufGear Hey bro hope all is well with you. Funny thing is, our eyes are constantly seeing in rainbow 🌈 vision all day and our brain decodes it depending on the colour of what we are looking at. Keep up the great work....😎
Hahaha I got a bad case of Quiverosis. Been riding Flying V’s since the NUG came out. Finally bought a camber custom this year basically because of this video
If you set your bindings back, it will float quite well....if you're on the right size. All a directional( early rise in the nose) camber deck does really is make it so you get the same effect riding reference. Rocker, of course, is a whole other thing.
Yep! The suggested weight range for a 158/158W Custom is 150-200 lb. I "should" be riding a 162/162W+, but with the type of riding I do on the daily, the 58W is a much better fit. It's wild to feel how much of a difference 4cm makes!
@@gufgear8985 roughly same size as you, but need the W(300 mondo) went for 162w even though I was recommended the bigger one (felt quite large) but happy I went for that size after hearing you went for the even smaller, going for the malavita with adidas tactical adv.
