If you use the CLEW bindings on a Burton snowboard or any channel board, use the washers that came with the CLEW bindings, but do not use the screws. Those are too long. Use the shorter black screws that came with your Burton bindings (for the channel) or the shorter screws you were using with your other bindings for the channel. If you use the longer screws that come with the CLEW bindings, they will bottom out on the channel.
What about other boards? I have the Capita mercury 2022. Do you think I could use all the hardware from the clews on that board?
@@kennyrogers5566 Hi, for the Capita Mercury, the screws that came with the CLEWs will work. The channel system uses the shorter screws.
I love the Clew design and accessibility! Great side by side comparison!
This content was solid. Thank you so much for this thorough and in depth review. I just picked up the Rulers from a local store but had to order the Burton step on bindings. I can't wait to try them out.
Nice! You’re going to like them 👍🏽
Absolutely BRILLIANT review. The best I’ve seen. Great job brother. ✌🏾&💜
Thanks for the awesome review man! Especially for toughing it out while freezing your fingers off. Much appreciated!
Hey no problem man 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for the info it really helped I haven't been snowboarding in a good amount of years and I don't know what's out there that's good anymore so I really appreciate the info because I was looking into strapless bindings
Yeah np Aaron. Cool to hear you’re coming back out to ride 🤙🏽
Another great video. Thanks for all the info.
Thank you 🙏🏽 No problem!
I've been lucky the last two seasons to have the chance to try 3 new step on or in setups. I found that the boots for K2 highbacks were less comfortable than I would have expected. Now I've rode 2 boards with one nice pair of Vans Infuse, one with the Clew and other with traditional Union Stratas. This weekend will be night riding on new Genesis step ons. These options have made this season exciting by changing it up all the time. Midwest shredder has been a huge part of being in the know across the whole spectrum of all these great options.
Changing stuff up is fun if you can pull it off. I like to try all kinds of things. You learn a lot about snowboarding gear this way and it's a lot of fun. Thank you 🙏
Damn b1980, you are every where!:p
Debating on getting the Clew bindings now. Would you recommend them?
Cheers
You'll have to review the new nidecker step In binding when it comes out next winter. They look sick. The step in/on market is really hotting up all thanks to Burton.
Hi Dan, yeah I would love to. I’ve seen a couple of clips of them and they look nice.
400$ is WAY too much for those bindings lol
Heavy too
As a petite female, your review was super helpful when also comparing the weight of the bindings. It may not make a huge difference to bigger dudes but the extra weight per foot on a tiny person, it is really notable.
Glad to hear it was helpful Cynthia! 🙌🏽
Great video as usual!
Thank you!
Thanks for the review!
I really enjoy my Burton step ons but I do wish the release mechanism was easier to reach like the clew binding. There has to be a way to “hack” it;)
Most people that don’t like the step ons say it’s because they like the straps and the feeling of being secure. I enjoy not having the tops of my feet not hurting.
I still love a traditional strap binding, but not having straps feels great. People don't know this unless they've been riding Step Ons for a little while. You feel light and free compared to a traditional strap binding. If more people gave them a chance, they would see this. Riding them for a one day review is only giving you an intro to the binding. The more you ride them, the better they get.
Maybe something like this?
ua-cam.com/video/coA1Nf99o7Q/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/t_sFma6pERo/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/8VD3NzMbt1o/v-deo.html
Guess it would be an fairly easy adjustment Burton could manufacture and maybe target a specific customer base
Thanks for the links!! I think I can fab something better now that I’ve seen some ideas.
The question then becomes, how bad do I want this easy release…
Yeah, I get a lot of feet discomfort. Eliminating the straps removes one more pain point. I have been running step ons for 2 seasons and love them. I did rush to put them on once in my first season and it wasn't secure so the board fell off as I was getting on the lift! Now I'm a little paranoid so I make sure they are actually on.
@3:11
An actual great review.
I tried both in LAAX this weekend and decided to buy the Clews, since I have size 47 nitro boots already. Of course the Burton boots are easy to roll on (had the old version) but they didn‘t have all version to test. For fellow boarders with big size feet Clew needs a bit longer toestrap but that is taken care of for me. Have good scared wit the binding of your choice guys 😎
Amazing review man!! I have the Burton step on and I love them! I would emphasize the problem with the step on release lever, I bought step ons because of a hip problem that causes me to not be able to strap my right boot comfortably, and while getting in the binding is amazing, releasing that lever on the right boot is very hard!
I want to switch to the clews just because of lever placement…but if you don’t have any issues touching the outside of your heals while on a board, the sep ons are amazing
Have you tried moving the levers to the inside? Maybe that will help.
These are great on the east coast where I feel like I spend more time on lifts than trails also helps since I have to skate a lot
Awesome, that makes sense! 👍🏽
Another Great Video...
Thank you 🙏
Great comparison review! I was looking to get a pair of Clew bindings but they're currently sold out. May just stick with the step ons and move them around.
I think they're sold out but they have them on pre-sale for next season for something like $350. No worries, stick with the Step Ons for now, they're a blast.
@@themidwestshredder My backup board has regular strap bindings and I have a pair of rather soft boots. Took that out for a spin last time I was on the slopes and was thinking "this damn set up doesn't turn!". Love the responsiveness of the step-ons.
@@byunism Haha nice!
Having big feet(11.5) I'd worry that with the way you have to slide your toe in with the Clew binding would be a real pain and would cause you to need to run the toe strap looser than I like. When I rode Flow bindings I had that problem all the time. The Flows rode great and I bet the Clew do also, but it defeats the purpose if you're still having to mess with the straps. I've run Step Ons for 3 seasons now and so far they've been amazing...That said, I definitely agree that it's great to see competition in the market place. Great Video as usual! Thanks!
Exactly!
You might be right about the problem with the big feet. I'm not sure though since I wear a size 9 boot. I agree though, the Step Ons are amazing.
I saw in another video (I think Johnathan Buckhouse's), there are adjustments to slide the front strap forward or something like that so it might be okay! Probably worth looking into if you're interested in the Clews otherwise
I also have 11.5 and it is kind of OK, when I am careful. The front strap is definitely tightened up, thats's fine, it's just a bit in front and a bit low. I need to be careful when getting in. But it fits tight, and when I click into, everything works fine (I have Burton shoes)
Hi I have the same problem but my guy is organizing it with the developers the strap has to be made larger for big feet so everything stays easy as should be without strapping
I will test the Clew in 4 weeks (I found a pair in L here in Europe). I rired the Step On for almost 2 seasons with Photon boots, but the Burton for tall and heavy people (1m90/100kg) creates hot areas in the toes, it's Infernal after 5-6 hours. It's the rigidity of the StepOn boot that created it. Hence my impatience to switch to a traditional boot... even if I loved my StepOn.
Damn sorry to hear you experienced that.
I’m taller, 240lbs and do fine in step ons. I’m not sure height and weight across the board is the issue, just your foot.
Burton also kinda set the high back to an angle to match the edge of the baord with you angling the bindings ducked out
Sick dude
Just got the clew and it’s definitely heavy and large/wide footprint compared to most bindings. Have not had a chance to ride on them yet.
I think you will enjoy them. When I'm riding them, they don't feel heavy to me, but they're just not as responsive as the Step On. I have a lot of fun riding them. I'm going out to ride today and I'm riding them on my park board. I'm bringing a second board and I have the Step Ons on that.
Where’d you get a set of Clews? I can’t find them anywhere and need a Large
@@hunterscrackdealer6650 they are sold out until next season. You can preorder
The rope lift looks fun too, never seen it in Japan 🤓
Yeah tow ropes are amazing 🙌🏽 They are very common in the Midwest here in the US. You can get a lot of laps in a very short period of time.
The fast in and out is brilliant on a short hill where you do lots of quick runs. If your local hill is in the mountains with a huge vertical, then of course it’s not as much of a big deal.
My local resort is a measly 400 feet vertical, but it’s still the best (only) place within a hundred miles. The step ons have saved me *so* much time off the lift even over my old Flows. I’m finally able to keep up with my skier friends instead of just catching them in the line.
I still love them on big mountains too. I love to take off right away without wasting time.
Love the comparison Cheers! Waiting on another video now bro on Nidecker Supermatics and how it compares to the others.
I would’ve done a review on them but they’ve been out of stock even before the season started.
@@themidwestshredder Dam shame...... Went shopping last week they had 1 supermatics left but only in M size which is wayyyyy too small
Across Europe, all L sizes sold out 🥲but you can still get M size in some places.
@@jmb69er I tried looking for a set in the US and could not find them.
Because my current StepIn Setup for Softboots is getting old and they stopped producing it (F2 Intec StepIn for Softboot - i loved it) i had to look whats on the market now. K2 Clicker is too fuzzy and so i compared Burton StepOn and the Clew. You already mentioned some pros and cons, but i would like to add some: When you you powder or the snow is very sticking (on the boot or binding) i find the clew a little bit better to step in than the burton. And if the snow is really sticky or your boots/bindings are covered with molten and afterwards frozen snow/ice - you can simply use the clew as a strap-binding. In this conditions you dont have to use it as a step on. Also I like to get in the binding while my board already moves down the run: The needed twisting (of the burton) to lock both toe-clamps is nothing i like because i am not very stable during this procedure. Another point why i prefer clew over burton: You can choose any boot - you dont have to buy burton or DC boots. But i really miss my F2-Setup for Softboots! Light weighted, extremely narrow (you could easily put two Boards incl. Bindings in just one Snowboard holder outside of a Gondola - very handy during peak times), extremely easy to step in and out while moving, rock solid...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve never seen the F2 intec Step in. I’ll have to look it up. Sounds cool.
Thank you!!!!!
Of course!!
I would to see a review of new laced Kendo step on boot. I been riding the step ons since they first came out. I would love to see how they feel.
Me too! If I can get a set, I'll try them out 👍🏽
I think it's easier to get in the Clew then in the step on, a lot of people complain about the step on, that you need to be at just thr right angle.
With clew you just push you foot fowoard and down at the end ( like ski boots) it's more natural,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m not sure why some people find it hard with the step on. It’s really quite easy.
I prefer how light the Burton Step Ons are, and also that there is zero on-resort strapping required, and I also like how responsive they are.
I agree with you 100%.
Hi-.
Just as a follow-up, I just watched your comparison vidio and realize that my latch-in issue may be related to having advanced the forward lean the full amount. Bummer !
I think Clew has got some design fine tuning to do. I also think its needlessly too heay - little too much plastic. One thing I have learned is that the contoured mesh straps provide way more responsiveness than padded ones.
I so wanted the Clews to workout because I like stiffer Ride boots. I'm a carver, Not into park/terain injury risks at age 83 !
Mal
I am going to continue riding them to see if I can figure out the forward lean problem.
That AZ playin in the intro though!
I still prefer the Flow NX2's. Its tech is tried and true. Also has highback adjustment.
I have to try a set of Flows. My brother and a friend always loved theirs.
Hey man, loved the review! Which of the two (clew or burton) would you recommend for a beginner? Also, any recommendations on a board to start? I’ve done a couple laps with rentals but always end up hurting afterwards, but definitely looking into getting more laps in the future with snowboarding.
I would go Burton step on. Maybe go with a softer boot like the ruler or the swath. I’ve been riding the Swath which is comfortable and not too stiff. Super easy to put on and take off. Keep at it with snowboarding, it’ll be 100% worth it.
Enjoying all the videos. Which Burton step on binding/ boot combo would you recommend for free riding? I like to go fast and hit side hits. I’m in my 40s and have been riding since I was 15. I’m planning on getting a flight attendant or cartographer to pair with new steps ons.
Hi Johnny, I like to keep my boots tight and still be able to have some ankle movement for side hits or in the park. I don’t like to feel like I’m stuck in place. The ruler and the swath work best for me. The swath is the most flexible but I love that boot. Comfortable and easy to put on and take off. If you like stiff and not a lot of movement, then the photon or the ion would work best for you. Those are super responsive and on the stiffer side. You can go regular step on or Genesis. I still have the regular step ons and they work great. I hope to get a set of Genesis though. The hammock is comfortable overall but it feels great riding rough terrain.
@@themidwestshredder thanks for the info👍🏻
I wear the Burton Powerstretch liners when making adjustments out on the hill. They work with touchscreens too, but sadly that magic doesn’t last as they start to wear. :-(
Hi, I was wondering if you could also do a comparison or review of the burton stepsons vs the K2 klickers. Really appreciate your reviews . Thank you.
Hi Priscilla, if I can save some money, I would love to do it. I have to buy the binding and the boot so that might be a little bit till I can pull it off.
Love your helpful videos, had a question about the clew screws on Burton channel set up. Do you find the that the Clew screws are too long compared to the black Burton screws that the reflex bindings come with? Last season I rentend bindings and the put on the longer screws on my Burton board and saw two little bumps on the bottom of the board. Don’t want it to happen again
Hi John, if you watch my unboxing video, I mentioned that. Do not use the CLEW screws. Use the washers that came with the CLEW bindings and use the shorter black screws that came with your Burton bindings. If you use the longer CLEW screws that came with the CLEWS, you will bottom the screws out on the channel of your board.
@@themidwestshredder thank you so much for your help…..keep up the great videos!
Hey Jimmy, I got a pair of Burton Photon Step ons + the re:flex bindings you have in the video. Do you think the Photon are a good long term boot to grow in skill with, or do you think I should swap it for the Swath? I’m more of a beginner, only been riding a couple seasons, but definitely going to be snowboarding for many seasons to come
Hi Dan, yeah you can definitely grow a lot into the photon. A lot advanced, expert riders use those. Stick with them. Really what it comes down to is comfort and you're riding style. As a beginner you don't really know any different so I would say stick with them. If they end up being too stiff, then that's when you can go down to something softer like a swath.
@@themidwestshredder thank you! You’re the man.
"I love the cartel" haha
that hill looks just like my local place. tiny, with a tow rope. lol… nice groomers though!
Haha I can ride other places but man I love good tow rope park like this one where I can do lap after lap. What I ride in a whole day somewhere else, I can ride in a couple of hours here.
@@themidwestshredder still gotta get used to those tow ropes. i’ve tried to make the hills feel bigger by riding a snow skate instead. lots of fun!
Iv found it way easier and better to step in on the burton step ons going toes then heel but too each their own I guess and lt makes it more natural to step in them idk if that’s the right or wrong way but it works great
I totally do toes then heel.
I guess we're all different 👍🏽
Nice breakdown. Overall the burton step on is way ahead on the engineering, they really got it right. The clew binding looks like an after thought, its heavy, bulky and has a coat hanger sticking out the back.
The Step Ons are a really clean, good working design. I was surprised with the CLEW bindings though, they're actually a lot of fun to ride. I'm going to be riding both to see how well the CLEWs hold up.
Hey man, I'm looking at a pair of new bindings and straps, I got step on and I love em but I want strap bindings as well. How are the cartel x for response and stiffness? I was looking between cartel x, vita and genesis and union atlas. Looking to do deep love carves and some Butters, ocassional park.
Cartel X are really nice. They are stiff and responsive so they'll do the job!
Great vid! We’re you testing the Burton Re:Flex Step On Binding? Or the X or Genesis? Thanks!
Hi, in this video I was using the regular (non genesis or X) Burton Step On reflex binding. By the way, the génesis and the x are also reflex bindings. They’ve only made a few limited edition EST bindings. The reflex and the est is the way it mounts to the board.
@@themidwestshredder awesome thank you!
Sick video, what board are you using in the edit ?
Hi, in this video I’m using the Burton Kilroy Twin from last year. This years has a black top with a purple base. Looks so nice. Sorry I missed this comment until now.
Thanks for the video! Question - Does anyone know if I can use my old Burton Cartel EST bindings on a different board that doesn't have the channel system??
No you can only use those EST bindings on channel boards only. That's why I like to buy the reflex bindings so that I can use them on any brand board.
great effort, thanks for the video! Clew is twice as heavy as the step on, does it feel cumbersome? I just bought the genesis SO bindings, cant wait to try it out in the southern winter (australia). I have been riding the SO for 2 years now and love it.
No problem! To be honest, the CLEW doesn't feel heavy to me when I'm riding it. It feels pretty comfortable and it's fun to ride. When I switched over to the Step On that day though, I did feel my setup super light and responsive. Man I like the Genesis. Comfortable and you will see how nice it feels in harsher terrain.
I used my clew over the weekend and had a hard time clicking in to the last hook. Any tips on how to have a better engagement? Thanks
Are you running forward lean? Mine go into the 2nd click without any effort.
@@themidwestshredder yes, running forward lean. It seems like it's tweaking somewhere because the right side hook engages easy but the left takes a lot of effort just to make it fully engage. I ride goofy. I gave up and just put in my unions. Now I'm thinking, maybe I have my strap a tad tight because I remember the pressure I feel on my foot when I get it to fully engage, but I never tried loosening it coz I was really getting frustrated, lol.
@@8overlanding23 yes I experienced the same problem. That’s what I mentioned in the video. One side would click in twice but the other struggled. I was always able to get it in but I had to Ollie and stomp a little to get it in.
How are the Clews for walking having the plastic under the foot at all times?
You don’t want to walk with them with the piece on. If you’re going inside to use the bathroom or to take a break, unstrap like a normal binding. Skating to the lift with the snowboard on is no problem at all.
@@themidwestshredder thank you for your reply
If you are walking on snow, you'll not feel the plastic. I do remove when walking on hard surface.
That weight difference makes you hope for CLEW one time doing a premium model with all titanium mechanics. 😆
More seriously, hopefully a somewhat more responsive one. Riding (strapped) Burton Genesis for years, which is probably not far from the Cartel X (at least Burton rates them the same stiffness), I guess I might dislike those CLEW to be less.
Haha that would be nice 😀
The CLEWS are definitely not as stiff as the Cartel X.
You ever go to alpine valley? I'm new to snowboarding but am trying to get as many weekends in as I can
Yes I've been there many times. Only once this season though. Nice hill for sure! Awesome man, keep it up!
@@themidwestshredder hell yeah! I'm actually heading up there right now!
I dont know why but i will keep with my Cartels for a long time…🤣🤣
Cartels are awesome. That’s one of my favorite bindings. The Burton Step Ons are also very good. I can’t tell you how many people I know that thought the Step Ons were crap, but now ride them.
Thank you. Dumb question: When you said "The Rock" in Wisconsin, what Resort you were referring to?
It's called The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, WI.
Yeah Ryan is right 👍🏽
Iam living in the alps and I ride every week. I never had any problems with breaking bindings and I also have to say I don't know any locals who rides anything else then strap bindings... I also don't see many tourists using this. Is this a US thing?
Hi, it has nothing to do with wether you ride in the alps or the US. It’s just another type of binding system for people to try. I like strap bindings myself but I’m open to try new things. The Step Ons work great.
I love these videos but I’m still not sold…I’ll keep my straps. Honestly it’s not even that much more work. You did a great job.
I do have a ridding recommendation for you… when you are doing a spin or a revert, try to get your head to the new shoulder, quicker. Play with the timing on those and you can clean that up a bit.
Just for example at 1:04 on your BS 180, your head doesn’t actually go to the new lead shoulder until the nose of the board is already downhill.
I understand that this is unsolicited advice but I hope it can help you progress in your freestyle.

Hi, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sold on the Burton Step Ons until I tried them. In fact, at first I thought they were for lazy people. I was really wrong. I gave them a shot one day when a local store was closing and they sold them at a discounted rate. After that, I was impressed by them and was sold. For me, it’s not so much about the extra work of strapping in. I can easily strap into a binding. For some it is. For me, it’s just about a fun way of riding and getting as many laps in as possible without having to wait. People that ride these kind of bindings have different reasons for why they use them. There is a big difference in time strapping in that you won’t notice unless you don’t have to do it anymore. Most of my friends and I use straps and step ons. We love both. When someone is using their straps, we are waiting and cracking jokes about it. Small hill or big mountain, they are beneficial in a lot of ways that people don’t even realize unless you ride them a lot. I still love a strap binding as well. My favorite is the Burton Cartel. Next season I still plan to ride more strap bindings. It’s just difficult to convince yourself to go back sometimes. Both are great though 👍🏽
Thank you for your advice! I’m always down to hear what people have to say. I will take what you say into consideration. This is great advice actually. When I’m not filming, I usually turn my head and my upper body (upper body and lower body separation) and pop 180s easily. Unfortunately when I’m filming with the selfie stick, I catch myself feeling stuck and not riding to my potential. I was just talking about this with my brother yesterday. When I put the selfie stick down, things are much easier and I ride a lot cleaner. I’m trying to force myself to work through these challenges and getter since I don’t have anyone to film me. Thank you!

Have you ever had any problems with toe hooks breaking off?
I have the version 1 and version 2 and I have not broken anything on these bindings.
Get the Klew...
I did 76/83 straight days in Austria. These things are pretty junk. Both hammocks came off (they're held on by a single pop rivet and two plastic teeth),. The toe clips (rear) wore down becoming less reliable for entry and ultimately releasing during riding. The gas pedal (under foot) falls off because it's only retained by little plastic teeth. Happened 2x to me and I found someone else's on the mountain... The Photon boots fell apart completely across both toe boxes. This is because they stiffened the whole boot and then relied on unreinforced double stitching at the toe seam.
If you carve and want more than 40-50 days forget these. If you are true beginner and want maybe 4-5 seasons doing only a week or two each season then yeah these are good. As long as you have the balance to take advantage of the entry system... And never progress your riding...
Are you doing giveaways for the clew bindings?
Hi, maybe in the future but not right now since I just spent a lot of money on the step ons to give away. I will let you guys know for sure if I do. Thanks.
The question is…. Are the Boots from Burton Same weight like the normal Boots because of the Metal ?
Not noticeable at all, those pieces don’t add much weight at all.

Did you made a video review of the nidecker supermatic binding?
Hi, From Québec, Canada
Hi Eric, I really wanted to but they were all sold out.
Where can I buy these at? I can’t find much on them
Hi, I believe the website is clew-snowboarding.com
The burtons just from Burton.com
Is "too responsive" ever a thing?
For people that don't really switch gear, it can be if they like to stick to the same binding that's not as responsive. Some people that ride rails also don't like super responsive stuff. There's more room for error compared to a less responsive binding. For me, I don't feel that. I feel like if you ride it, your muscles get accustomed to the response.
Your legs are more sore :D But more stiff is better :)
You should have weighed the Step Ons with the heel cleat as that would be more accurate
The cleat only weighs .6 oz. with the screw and the rest of the hardware. I didn't weigh it because all boots vary in weight. Makes sense though.
Surely the Burton is lighter, it has NO straps/ratchets...
Demonstration would be helpful.
I have videos using both bindings on the channel.
What resort is this
Hi, this is a small local hill in Wisconsin called The Rock Snow Park. The tow rope and the park are so much fun 🤙🏽
The horrible fit of Burton boots made the step-ons a no-go for me.
Had dead feeling in toes within 5 minutes of wearing them photon boots.
Dang that sucks, sorry to hear that. Crazy how different we all are. For me the Burton boots feel super comfortable.
the clew binding is more designed for stronger built people. when there's a blizzard, i see people get stuck trying to pull the handle (you need to really pull it to be fully ejected from the lock). When there's thick cover of snow, the lock mechanism gets stuck as well, you need to wiggle your feet out of it. Another side effect was that the clew binding has to be really tight, otherwise it'd fall from the chairlift. To fully locked in, you need to align your upper binding perfectly to the lower binding, if it's too far left or right, it gets locked in on one side but missing the other. The general idea was good, but they need to make adjustments to it to make it right.
There is no case of these bindings detaching while on the chair lift, it's just mechanically impossible with how they are built. They are designed to need your weight in the heel of your boot for the lift mechanism to release (it's not based on how hard you pull). For cases of not being able to put your weight on your heel easily to release the binding, I just unstrap just as a normal binding does, which I've never needed to do on the mountain. I recommend you try the product out before leaving a negative review
@@hunterhodgson7653 I'm speaking from personal and friends' experience. We've all had the same problem, it's the reason why I wrote it so people dont just hear all the PR bs, but hear some actual existing problems they'd run into, which I think it's fair to say. For the record, it has nothing to do with putting weight on the heel, the handle pulls half way due to the hook not releasing from the lock, which is a major defect. Have you actually tried or snowboarded on a steep angle on black diamonds or double blacks from Vail or SLC? When it's icy, what the hell could you do. So stop making accusations and let people speak of the existing problems. So people are aware and the company should fix it, it's the only way to make a product better instead of shutting people up about it. jeez
@@hunterhodgson7653 As for the binding slipping from your boot on a chair lift, the people behind us yelled during a blizzard storm, it's freaking ridiculous to experience this kind of issue. I should clarify that it was not the binding on the board, but the binding on the free foot. If the strap on the midfoot is not super tight, the whole thing would fall off after walking like 20 steps waiting in line for the lift. And people should know about this before purchasing.
@@PureValentino I exactly experienced the same issue about the mid strap fell off after few runs walking back in line. I’m going to contact clew to see what they can do with this. And the issues you pointed out were right. The upper and lower parts need to be align perfectly. There were times the hook get stuck on one side
@@chauboeyI had to record a video of it, but they were quick to refund. Good luck to you. Hope things work out.
And If you must choose? I dont now maybe burton....pfff
If I could only choose one, I would pick the Burtons. They’re light and super responsive. I also like that they’re different and don’t have straps, but they still function like a strap binding. That’s what makes those things cool.
@@themidwestshredder thanks! It helps a lot!
burton is a trash company worst customer service, they get you to buy
their gear but if a boot is too tight and you call them up they assume
you want to return it.. my response was did i say i want to return it?
but where is the modification department to help me fit in my boot
better? there is no help at all they just say they cant help. greeattttt
thanks for the help i will never recommend them now... my left foot is
good my right foot where the tongue bends is putting so much pressure on
my foot to the point its rolling my bone, i already heat molded and
took the insole out, a little better with the insole out. which they
didnt say that. they dont even help at all they just assume i want to
return them.
So sorry to hear about all your problems Nick.
Do you remember what jacket that was?
Hi, yes I believe that was the Burton Banshee jacket 🤙🏽
I really do not get it why people need easy bindings?? Juwst to gain 20 seconds? Conventional bindings are way more straigth forward, no drama.
Everyone has different reasons why they use them. I like both strap bindings and “step in” style bindings. When the step ons first came out I thought they were for lazy people. My curiosity grew over time though and I bought a set when a store closed down near me. I was blown away when I rode them and found out how good they really were. I kept riding them and they just got more and more fun. I could do everything I could do with my normal strap bindings, they were lighter, and they were great for carving. For me, getting in fast is not about being lazy. I run a lot and I stay very active. For me, riding this is all about fun. When you start riding these, you realize how bad ass it is to get in fast. Ratcheting really becomes a waste of time and a waste of energy. That energy I can use for more park laps or hiking. You don’t realize this until you try something like this. For some people it’s not the “cool” thing, but believe me, this stuff is good. Also, straps are not without drama. I’ve broken straps, ratchets, lost screws, and even broke a highback falling on a big jump. Nothing is perfect, let’s be honest.
Clew bindings are worst bindings ever i ride. They are definitely dont worth money.
Seriously you are only getting fast in and out of the binding for the extra money to put towards the clew binding. New snowboarder will love it and think it’s amazing but any OG will say no thanks rather spend it on a good set of traditional binding and use the extra money on Beer, weed and lift tickets lol.
Experts, wich one is better? Im on Fire to buy
@@santiagocobos3181 Do you like your current boots? Clew. Do you want new boots? Step on.
Absolutely love your videos man, thank you so much for the continued reviews on all these types of bindings! @NVRLNDN
No problem! Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi,
How to get the « ride on Jack » sticker you have on your board??
THX
I'm not sure. I got several of those stickers at the last US Open in Vail a few years back. Maybe see if they have any at the Burton Store.
