Hey Shara, that came out nice. Quick fairly simple and looks really good. I love pocket screws specially when you don't see them. Thanks for another great weekend project. Have a good weekend!
Thanks so much! This may be one of the "smaller" projects, but it was definitely one of the most fun I've done lately! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend!!
I know this is super hard to keep up your pace of videos, but I appreciate you and all the work you do on your channel. You make great project choices and easy to find materials. You rock!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the encouragement. But most of all, I'm happy to hear you enjoy the videos and the simplicity :) Have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for watching and following along!
So glad you liked the talk to camera moments! I always have a hard time deciding what to include and not include with those haha. I'm trying to do more here and there! Anyway, thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Agreed! Simple lumber, simple joinery, simple build--the recipe for a fun project that reminds me why I enjoy making things haha. I hope it does the same for others :) Have a great weekend!
I'm going to tell you what you're doing RIGHT. You post these videos and go straight into the build. You don't waste time talking about crap. You don't waste time showing unnecessary footage. This is why I love and like all your videos! Thank you!
I am a bit surprised that your shop doesn't appear to be heated. What a simple project, thank you. You make everything look so easy, wish my projects worked out that way. Until next time... Build safe.
No, it's not heated. I like working with the big doors open, so I don't heat or cool it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and the simple project! Not every project turns out good. There are definitely fails. But that's just part of building haha.
Thank you! Shes going to paint it a light blue...unless I can convince her otherwise haha. I love how it looks as is, but she likes more bright color in her design than I do 😂
Instead of sending the curved side of the shelf, you should make a template on thinner wood and then trim shelf on the router with the coping bit. It would be already smooth with no sending needed
I could--that would be a great idea if I was making several of these and would reuse the templates more than once. But since I was just making this one shelf, cutting and sanding wasn't too big of a deal on just four pieces.
Just yesterday I saw a shelf like this and love the design. Question: I don't have a powered miter saw. Can you do angled cuts with a manual miter box? Love your work. Thanks!
Looks great. It’s nice to do a project you can knock out quick. Also, there is nothing wrong with pocket holes. They have found hand cut pockets in old furniture built by craftsman. Check out video at Stumpy Nubs.
I really enjoyed watching you build this corner shelf! A really nice project and appears to be a simple build. You always make it look easy! Lol…. You’re the best… hope you’re having a great weekend! 😅 Keep on building! 🎃
I wanna touch it!!! It looks so incredibly smoth & just absolutely gorgeous 😍 You are an inspiration to all of us ladies & I love your way of explaining everything ❤️ Thank you for sharing what you do by being you, keep it up!!!
Perfect timing for a Super Simple Shelf Project!! The wife was just showing me some plant stands she wanted, and this is something I know she’ll want!! Now I just have to finish watching so I can see how you did it, as well as listening for those hard words and bad planning! 🙈 😉
Did you say "super simple shelf" three times fast? HA! You probably didn't struggle with it like I did, though 🙈 If you and your wife love some simple plant stands, I'm not sure if you saw this one, but it's been a big hit (honestly, I was pretty surprised people liked it so much haha): www.woodshopdiaries.com/diy-tiered-plant-stand/ It's even simpler than this one and is basically just a few pieces of scrap wood. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the video and happy building!! :)
Love how that turned out Shara! Always enjoy your video's. You have great design ideas. Thanks for taking the time to make the video's as I'm sure it is very time consuming. It's greatly appreciated!
If this is being painted, the color/species of the dowels from the outside wouldn't matter at all in the end. This could be a cool kit to sell online, to be assembled/finished by the customer.
If only I had the time to put some kits together! Haha. That would be a great idea. Yeah, when I started building it, I thought she was planning to have me stain it and when I asked her about what color she wanted, she had decided on paint. If I had known ahead of time that she was painting and not staining, I'd definitely have just countersunk and plugged the holes.
The design is so visually appealing that I found the build to be deceptively 'simple'! Great work here and clever use of materials. Thanks for putting this video together!
I just drill deep enough that the screw head sits below the surface of the wood once it’s driven. The bit has a stop, so drilling until it stops works as well
Shara, starting off my Saturday with another great video from your workshop. I just bought 500 more pocket hole screws and 250 foot of edge banding....so if your wondering whether you're influencing anyone there's your answer. I bet you roll your eyes when your Mom starts thinking up the next project for you. I am sure she's proud of you and the things you've accomplished so I recommend you keep building stuff for her with your special touch and with love. Thanks for Sharing!
Happy Saturday! I'm so glad you enjoy the videos and that's really crazy to think about--the influencing thing haha. I always hated the term "influencer" as I never wanted to be one--I wanted to be an "inspire-er" haha. But I guess that's really the same thing. I just always hope it's a good influence if I'm influencing anyone 😅 It's funny you say that about my mom because I'm actually about to build her a whole new bedroom set (my dad has no idea haha). She definitely keeps me busy building--but I'm happy about it :) Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a great weekend!
Very nicely done. I like it very much and agree with your thoughts on using pocket screws when not seen. Contrasting color dowel plugs would also be a design choice if left unpainted.
That's exactly why I prefer to make my own...that and getting nice, square corners vs rounded ones that usually come with pre cut 2x2s. Hope this was helpful!
Hi Shara! What a great idea! Cant wait to get building in my own garage! I love your videos and awesome ideas! Also, any recommendations for a beginners tablesaw? Most of my tools are from Ryobi. Keep up the amazing work you do! Thanks, Candy from Al.
loved seeing the cabinet build in the background. i enjoyed that video and they look great. i will be using that as my template for my garage cabinet build.
I love how this turned out! I really want to make one but I'm also thinking of doing one that has half circle shelves to go flush against the wall. Now to figure out exactly how to do that... 🤔
Thank you again for being so awesome! Loved the video. Any chance you might be doing a basement bar project in the near future? I may or may not be planning on building one very soon and would love to see what you have for ideas!!!
I love this as well as the many other beautiful projects you've made using simple joinery that anyone can do. Just yesterday I bought a little doweling kit to try for about six bucks and it worked really well. Don't be afraid to expand your knowledge a bit. This old dog (74 years old) learned a new trick.
It looks simple, but elegant...nice work there Shara..

Nice build Shara. I like and agree with your thoughts about screws and pocket holes 😉

Thank you!
@@WoodshopDiaries Your welcome
is the front legs longer than the back?
Yes because they’re angled.
The up close moments when you take time to talk about the project are very cool❤ Great corner shelf project👍🏾

@@WoodshopDiaries Hope your weekend is wonderful also, Thanks!
Nothing wrong with pocket holes. You can have dominos and dowels, but sometimes pocket hole just fit the bill.

Nice. Although I think you should show us what colours, sorry colors, your mum.....🤔 mom painted the shelves.
Thank you! Shes going to paint it a light blue...unless I can convince her otherwise haha. I love how it looks as is, but she likes more bright color in her design than I do 😂
@@WoodshopDiaries I too like looking at wood furniture in its natural form.

Is it possible to use a Dado cut on all three legs of the shelf to hold the shelf?
Would this work for a taller corner shelf?
Really beautiful job 👍

When screwing through the back post with the countersunk holes how do you determine the depth you drill?
I just drill deep enough that the screw head sits below the surface of the wood once it’s driven. The bit has a stop, so drilling until it stops works as well
Beautiful, Shara! Really amazing work! 😃
I may try to make one as well!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Is that 1984 on the shelf?
Pocket holes are the bomb. Ain't no hate here! I LOVE this!! I have been looking for a new project to inspire me! This is it!
SO glad to hear you loved it! Happy building and thanks so much for watching!
Yey! Nice build Shara! And - The monkey hat is back!
Sock monkey hat season is here!! It's the best time of the year haha.

Great simple project. I think I may have the materials to make this. Definitely going to check my supplies.
Beautiful shelf❤
Great job, Shara! 👊
Thank you so much! 🙌
Thanks. Perfect for Grandma’s sunporch and bonsai trees

Nice design.
thats nice
I really like the chunky look of your shelf. It is very well proportioned. 👍
Thank you! Using 2x material for the whole thing is a bit overkill as far as strength, but I definitely do love the look of the thicker material
Great looking corner shelf! I think it would look good painted, stained or just clear coated. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you so much! If I had my choice, it would stay exactly has it is haha. I love it simple and plain.
Ryobi & pocket hole, your my kind of woodworker!
Always trying to keep it simple, affordable, and approachable haha.
I love your idea to rip down a 2x6 to make the 2x2s. I find it very difficult to find pre cut 2x2s that are not twisted.
That's exactly why I prefer to make my own...that and getting nice, square corners vs rounded ones that usually come with pre cut 2x2s. Hope this was helpful!
Love this! I have a perfect corner in my dining room that needs something like this for plants.

That is a cute little project that one can do for a plant stand as well.
YES! I love this idea for a simple little plant stand!
Pocket holes worked fine for this. You may have been able to use glue and brads in a lot of it considering the size of the shelves.

The genius is in its simplicity. Well done again.
I love simple--simple lumber, simple joinery, simple projects haha. So glad you enjoyed it!
Even though it is labelled a corner shelf, it actually looks good against a flat wall too.
Great job Shara! Simple and easy are always good. Thank you for taking us along on your build process, always fantastic!
This looks like a really sturdy, cute, well made corner shelf. I like it.
