I agree with you about the vessel sinks. The only people who are fans of that style of sinks are those who have never had to use them on a daily basis nor try to keep them clean. They seem to get dirtier on the outside than the inside. Many people love the look, but in short order they discover things like washing your hands and brushing your teeth are cumbersome. Beautiful work!
We had one for several years in our previous home and I actually liked it-BUT it was much (MUCH) larger than the small round ones my parents have. I can definitely see the frustration with the tiny round vessel sinks. At the end of the day, I’d still rather have the undermount though-plus the extra height provides more storage space 🙌
Those turned out so beautiful!!! I'm sure your parents are going to be very happy with them. Thanks for the great tips along the way. You always do a wonderful job of narrating and providing different options on how to build things. Looks like Lucy and Bubby were having a lazy summer day. Our pets have it made don't they!
Thank you so much! They came over to see them in person this week and were so excited. I can’t wait to get them installed for them soon! And yes, Our pets are definitely spoiled. But I don’t mind-they’re perfect company to me when I’m working. 💕 I hope you and yours have an amazing weekend! Thank you so much for watching!
I really like this vanity. Nice looking and would also be perfect for one of my bathrooms. Great build and nice looking. Have a great weekend Shara. Steve
Another great build, thank you😊. What about putting an upright in the centre of the bottom drawer that you could put the drawer knob onto so you can grab it. Just a thought 😊
I think you did a great job in keeping with a similar style as the previous ones that your parents have. They turned out really well. And it was good to see how your pets are doing.
Shara, I love the detail in your vanity. Now you have me looking at the two identical vanities in my house which are just a few inches smaller in comparison to yours. Even with a modification or two, purchasing your plans is a bargain because you've already taken into account measurements surrounding plumbing and the availability of fixtures. The temperature in my shop right now is 105 so give me some time to chew on this with the Boss. I feel like you were speaking directly to me when you showed the critters. Hugs to them both. I appreciate every minute of your videos and usually watch them more than once. So the length of any segment I personally think is up to your artistic license. Frankly, I love the enthusiasm you bring to the beginning of each project and carry through to the end. Thanks for Sharing!
Hi I’m Nelson from the Dominican Republic and I’m so glad that I follow Shara because to me she’s one of the best, gorgeous ideas and I copy lots of her designs ❤
I like the single sink vanity better too. It looks great and really matches the double sink vanity perfectly. I always enjoy seeing Lucy and Bubby in your tutorials. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you! I’m going to go with modern rustic 😉😆 I don’t know why-it just seems easier to say haha! I appreciate you watching and hope you have a great weekend!
Hey Shara, I wanted to reach out and say that I really like your work. Im a 25 year old woodworker in Oregon, and every project you post makes me want to stop what im doing and build it! I really appreciate what you do and I will continue to support you and purchase your plans! Keep up the amazing work!!
You do an awesome job! My home in Florida was flooded when they let 24 billion gallons of water out of the lake. Who knew that this would give me an opportunity to do woodworking! Building bathroom vanities out of red oak.
Hello Shara, I live in Argentina. I enjoy all your videos and I don't mind long or short introductions, it's good to hear your comments on your work. Greetings and Happy Building. Daniel
Such skill. While it isn't you make these look so easy to do. I really appreciate the style you use in the videos giving us the build process. Gives a lot of inspiration when trying to tackle our own builds. Really love that t&g idea. When I build something needing doors definitely plan to use it.
Thank you! I’m so happy you enjoy the step by step style of the videos. It’s not as entertaining sometimes, but I try to make it useful. And yes-that t&g “trick” saves so much time! I hate making cabinet doors, so anything to make it easier is a win for me 😆 happy building and thanks so much for watching!
I’m so happy you enjoyed it! It honestly turned out better than I had hoped and my parents are so excited to get them installed (soon haha). I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Well... an alternative title for this video might be: "The Total Rebuild of Shara's Parents' house continues..." 🤣 1:30 "I need this piece cut off from something at some point" describes a lot of what goes on in my shop... 7:49 that expression when realizing HOW MUCH EDGE BANDING has to be applied...😕 I've said it before, but your idea of using T&G for panel doors and drawer fronts is freakin' brilliant. For your next trick, let's see a creative use of the tongue offcut for a creative piece of trim! These vanities turned out really nice! And, while I didn't think your intros were too long, I kind of like how you popped in a few times for "notes." Nice to see your face as an alternative to voiceovers... sorta provides a visual and mental break from following the build. And, of course, hi to Lu and Bubs!
Haha it’s like we’ve already redone it all once and we are just starting over at the beginning to redo it all again 😆 at least this time it’s not a complete bathroom remodel like the last time (I tiled that shower and those floors in 2020 and it was a nightmare 🙈) I’m so glad you like my little “trick” with the t&g! I hate making doors so anything that makes it a little more bearable is a win 😆 I’ve actually been trying to think of some ideas to use the tongues on. I’ve thrown a lot of them away but I kept a handful to ponder with. One of these days I’ll come up with something…maybe. Also, I appreciate the feedback. I’m always trying to figure out a video format (I’m clearly not a professional videographer) that’s efficient (both in filming and editing), practical, and not super boring. I agree with you-I think the little breaks here and there were helpful (at least in the editing process haha). I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks again for watching 🙌
Hello Shara, I love all your videos. I watch them over and over again, and I never get tired of learning from your talent, your simple approach to work with elegant results. Congratulations and thanks to you for sharing this passion for woodworking. I’m very happy to be your subscriber. Best regards
Love it. I did something similar except for one side I did not do two drawers I did one large drawer front but had a pull out rack that my wife hangs her hair dryer, hair curler, etc
Beautiful build as always. You’re right about the grain patterns on that plywood. I love seeing the process and that you offer options and ideas even when you (or your parents) don’t choose them. One technical question: do you think the center of that bottom drawer will eventually sag? If so, what would be your fix after the fact?
Thank you! So glad you enjoy the build process (however chaotic it can be sometimes haha). I don’t have any concerns about the bottom drawer. The shortest distance between supports is front to back. So I don’t anticipate the bottom sagging. And unless they’re filling the drawers with pennies, I don’t see the drawer box itself sagging either. More than likely, the amount of weight needed to bow the 5”+ tall drawer box would have already maxed out the slides.
@@WoodshopDiaries Good point about the height vs. the possible filling with stuff, aside from pennies.😉 Total side question: ever thought of making a tansu step cabinet? Similar to what people use in tiny homes for storage stairs. I’m working myself up to making one and would love to see your take on it because your skills far exceed my own. 😬
Thank you for another great tutorial Shara. I am wondering if you can tell me why you chose the Helmsman finish over the polyacrylic finish? Always hoping to learn more :)
😆😆 Lou drives us nuts when it rains, storms…or the wind just blows a little 🙄🤦🏼♀️ we found her at about a year old, so I’m guessing maybe something happened in her past life but sometimes I’m just like YOU HAVE GOT TO CHILL. We thought she’d grow out of it but she’s almost nine so I don’t think that’s happening haha.
Awesome design. I want to build a double sink but like the style of this single sink vanity with the bottom drawer across the vanity. Do you have plans for something like that?
Thank you! I’m sorry, I just have the double vanity shown in the video. It doesn’t have drawers underneath the doors, but they could definitely be added!
If the time comes you're looking for another set of parents ...... remember me 🙂. I'm looking for a 4th daughter who's a DIY'er. Just kidding Shara ...... your parents must be very proud having you, making very neat/nice stuff. Again ...... a very nice bathroom vanity and ...... just build under 15 minutes 🙂 Have a nice weekend. Until next project. Greetings from the land of tulips, windmils and wooden shoes.
Haha I’ll keep that in mind! 😊 my parents sure keep my busy, but they’re great clients so i don’t mind. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend and I appreciate you watching and following along. Happy building!
Idk why I keep watching your videos when I will NEVER be able to make what you make because I don’t have all your equipment lol. It’d be cool to see you make a more DIY styled project with like just one or two major tools (like a circular saw and jigsaw, or something) so that others like me could duplicate it 😊
super nice thanks a lot! in CA I never see a cidar panel can be that beautiful, at least Lowes/Home depot building material can hardly be used for furniture, they are all bowed or out of shape. The only thing seems to be the janka or all wood are very soft, so you do over build which reduce space utilization. Would hardwood floor panel be a better choice? say using single floor panel 3/4x3" for footing, how do you think?
Thank you! Yes I love my kreg rip cut and accucut guides. Ive been using them for years. People always ask if I rough cut my pieces with them then Final Cut in the table saw. Absolutely not-I don’t have time to cut twice 😆 I Final Cut with these and have found them to be very accurate if they’re set up correctly.
Hello if i may ask you a question? Doing the 2x2 legs the way you did, do you think that legs like that would be sufficient to be the legs for a queen bed frame? Thank you for your time
Your skills are phenomenal, and your products are top-notch. You don't need to change your ways just because a few people bitched about your intros. Let them make their own videos how they want. Sorry, just my opinion.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! I agree-I know I won’t make everyone happy. But here and there I like to switch things up a little and see how it goes. 😅

@@WoodshopDiaries you're very welcome! And you also! 😊
I liked that double vanity so as this single vanity. I like the mix of cedar and darker birch.
Thank you! Cedar and birch are probably my favorite color combos 😍 warm and plenty of character!
I've begun using the micro pocket hole jig when im doing 2x2s and I've had no issues since
I really like this vanity. Nice looking and would also be perfect for one of my bathrooms. Great build and nice looking. Have a great weekend Shara. Steve

Used a vessel sink recently and just really did not care for it either. While they may look great… it’s not great for practical use.
So true. Especially the tiny ones like they have here.
dumb question, but my brain works this way---could I buy the plans and then just customize the width cuts to make it 42" wide fairly easily?
Of course! You’d just need to consider your sink size so the center section is big enough to fit it. Your drawers may be pretty small at that point.
Would you mind if I ask the brand/model of your sander?
Of course, it’s a surfprep 5” orbital sander
That thing looks great, but it just doesn't have enough drawers. lol It's been established that 9 is the optimum.
