First thing were going to do is cut the pieces for our brace
I need two pieces of 2x2 cut at 13” and then cut at 45 degrees on one end.
next I’m going to cut my triangle pieces for the tops and bottoms of the shelves.
I’m using a 1x12 and then just cutting it on 45s using the miter saw. You could also use a skillsaw for this.
I also need a 1x3 1/8ths” for the front panel cut at 24 5/8ths with 45 degree cuts at either end.
Now I’m going to assemble my shelves using wood glue and 1 ½ 18 guage air nails. I used the pieces I cut for the braces as spacers as I was putting it together.
I filled my nail holes with wood puddy and then gave the shelf a good sand with the orbital sander using 120 grit paper.
I used a wood conditioner to give my shelves a nicer finish and prevent blotching and then I stained them using Early American stain by minwax.
To put up the braces I used a stud finder and marked their location on the wall.
Then I placed my braces where I wanted my shelves to sit and marked the location of the studs.
I predrilled my holes to prevent splitting. The screws I had weren’t long enough so I countersunk my holes and used 2” screws. If you don’t countersink your holes, I recommend 3” screws.
I placed my brace on the wall where I wanted my shelves to sit and screwed in one end of the brace. I checked the level, and then screwed in the other side.
I repeated this step for all 4 pieces.

Just built this yesterday. Thank you the clear, easy instruction! Works perfectly and is impressively stable.
Wife wants corner floating shelves with wine glass storage underneath, really glad i saw this vid. Love the way you type out your audio from the video, very helpful!
That was really cool. Thank you for your pleasant delivery
I love the simplicity of the design and how easy it is to make .thanks
Awesome job!
Just finished building my house here in Japan and wanted some f-shelf ideas! Bam! You’re my savior! Keep up the good work.
Such a breath or fresh air to see an enthusiastic young lady tackle (with ease) this kind of informative DIY. Oh.....btw, love your dance when you were making the shelves. :)
Weirdo.
Amazing!! Great use of space and soo well constructed 👏
This is amazing! I was just thinking earlier about DIY’ing a floating corner shelve! Love it!
Ich liebe Dich. Deine Art und dein Anblick ist super🥰🤗
So cute how the first thing you put on your shelf is your wedding photo.
Can't wait to make these. Thank you
Congrats.....very good job.
Clear and helpful video, thank you.
just was looking this up and your video was first I liked and subbed ..I didn't need to see another it was what I was looking for thanks
why is she so adorable
I know I commented on your project before, but I found the perfect corner in my garage where I will be using these shelves. I just had to review this video again. Not to mention you seeing you dance like that, don't think I'll be doing that when I make the shelves. LOL Thanks again for the idea.
hahaha awesome! they are SUCH a great use of space!
Wooow so nice good job!👍👍👍👍👍
my wife and i loved this! do you think the design would be scalable and sturdy enough to hold a flat screen TV? thanks!
For sure it's super sturdy !
Nicely done!! God bless and stay safe.❤️
Lol I used the same music in my video 😂😂 thanks for the awesome video!!
O I'm definitely going to make this!! 3:13
Glad to see (well hear) you used your good mic this time. Great project keep it up!!!
hehe thanks aaron! i'm learning, slowly but surely! :P
Gute Idee, sehr schön gemacht.👌👍
Gorgeous shelves! Might attempt building some of my own once I become more confident with a saw lmao. Subbed btw :)
Very fine. If your corners are exactly 90 degrees
Must Have
Wonderful job!
I’m back for a second time, but this time I am going make these shelves. Thanks for making it a short video. Cheers
No worries short and sweet !
Well done
Great video! I was trying to figure out how to go about doing floating corner shelves and I was seriously over complicating things. Thanks for posting this. Saved me a lot of time haha. Liked and Subbed :)
thank you! they are a pretty easy build and so perfect for places that can be tricky to decorate!
Suuuuper
Mount a small downlight underneath each shelf, would look epic!
SUCH a good idea!! next shelf video maybe!! hehe
Very Nice 👍
Excellent build!!! Nothin hotter than a hottie with power tools!
Very nice job.
Ty for this, worth subscribing to
Wow is perfect work
Amazing! great video
Very nice.
I'm subscribing 👋🖐
Im excited over just one video I've watched so far so yeah me right here wants to tell you awesome work and for me as I love wood working but I just don't have time for anything tedious so this is perfect for me thanks again
She is good!
:)
Very nice 👌
Great video
Love it.. good job
*Bem bolado 👍, seus vídeos são incríveis 👈. Gosto muito de seus trabalhos.*
Great work
music is way WAY too loud
Awesome
very much cool
Hi! You may not know the answer to this but I'm attempting this project and cut all my pieces with your suggested dimensions and none of it fits together. I am in the US, do wood standards vary in different countries (assuming you are not in the US)? Are you using inches for all measurements? haha I am so stumped!!
EDIT: Solved! :D I was using the opposite parts of the 1x12 (that would be helpful to indicate in future videos! However I realize this video is 2 years old). Anyway I found my own measurements and they turned out awesome! Thank you!
Great video, you definitely work smarter not harder lol 5:57
U are awsome!
You should have used a small amount of wood glue on the top of the frame because with no glue, nails screws they are not well secured to the hidden frame
I made similar ones and after 3 hours of cutting gluing and screwing I found when I was installing that the walls were not square and they did not fit right
useful point! I built a shelf in the garage, and found that the floor and walls were not straight/even. Fortunately I could customize each shelf to fit - the advantage of DIY.
I wish I have your tools!!!
Cheers!!!
Oh man, I've got the same shed. I already have some old stand-alone steel shelves in mine. Do you think I could put together the simple wall construction you did in a u-formation so I could have it stand up on its own while allowing me to hang up some tools between the studs? 1:38
You look and sound like Pam from The Office!!
Can you give more detail on the measurements? I have now wasted several boards and they are still not right!
I think you'd have to measure the specific angle of your wall corners, and then cut the board accordingly. Unfortunately, not all walls are perfect 45 degrees.
Would this be sturdy enough to hold a microwave?
Nice video
👍👍👍👍👍
What are the final dimensions of this triangle? How many inches wide was the triangle piece that you cut?
I just made one of these. My corners are so not square!
Will this work if the shelf is bigger?
- Nice.
You gonna build the floating corner shelf ?
👍❤️👍
What kind of wood did you use ? Thanks
Hey! Everything is perfect BUT my 2x2's aren't secure against the wall. I even tried anchors when I couldn't match it up with studs. How are you making sure the screw doesn't drill straight through the 2x2 since there's nothing to stop it? Hope this makes sense. Thanks so much for the design plan!
She counter sinked the screws bit if you don't counter sink...you needed 3 inch screws
How much did it cost ? And what kind of wood is it?
Nice job. Are those large enough to hold a DVD player or gaming console? If so, what is the front width you made them?
I think you can change the dimensions to hold a DVD player or gaming console.
Anyone have the materials list and the cut out list?
Hi
That looks like a 1x2 but she said it was 2x2?
okay, but without a band saw and a degree in carpentry /s Where can i buy one? =-0
Where did you find 1x3-1/8ths wood? I checked both the local Home Depot and Lowes and they only have 1x3" or a 1x4"
not sure I follow I didn't use any 1/8" thick wood.. Are referring to the 3/4" pine boards I used for the outside facing ?
@@TimberTea Sorry for the confusion! For the outside facing, "I also need a 1 x 3 1/8ths” for the front panel".
The 3-1/8ths" is the hard part!
Daniel Belter yeah measurements are confusing. She uses both nominal and actual measurements for different pieces. need 3-1/8” actual width for front face according to the build materials (top/bottom actual width 3/4” each, plus 2x2 actual width 1.5”). In the description, she uses nominal 1x12 (not 3/4”x11.25”), and nominal 2x2 (not actual 1.5”x1.5”). This mysterious 3-1/8” actual width is not something that can be found at Lowe’s or HD.
Thank you!
Your idea looked simple at first, but getting all the angles to aline was almost impossible even when measured three times and cut. Your shelves look 10 time better than mine. I think I will scrap this entire project.
noooo!! I hope you didn't give up!! and it doesn't have to be perfect. all those imperfections just add character hehe :P
It seems like maybe your wall is not at a perfect 45. I would do a cardboard template first or use a tool to see what angle your wall is a actually at. Mine is just a touch over 45
This is a how to specifice to her wall....that's why this won't work for most people. And that's why I only watch for design ideas...not to follow the instructions to the inch
Is there any concern that the hanging side is just being held by the shear strength of the screws (and glue, I guess)? I'm probably just paranoid. :) 4:37
I've had all kinda of stuff placed on them and they are sturdy as a rock!
Sooo.. The only thing that we shouldn't do for these shelves is pulling it?
hahah ya if you have kids you can put a small screw on the top side at the back to keep them from being pulled off the wall.. That's what I did !
@@TimberTea well, that's great! If it works for you then we'll surely try
You are so cute and handy 💚
hehe thanks friend!! :D
Do I still cut at 45 if my wall is not a perfect 90?
No...she failed to mention others wall angles. She did this with the intentions of her wall only
Might want to still put in at least one screw to the frame attached to the wall…..
What size did you cut your triangles to?
12" at 45 degree angles
seems like 24" to me@@gotheatsauce
@@j4wentworth its not mine are 12" then with the face is extra .75"
@@j4wentworth from front corner to corner is 25 5/8 like she said
Coolio
no you are
iloveit....apir
nice !:-)
Safety glasses should be worn when using any type of nail gun. Other than that great job!
What kind of wood did you use?
all just pine
Timber & Tea I ended up making them too!
Beautiful but its too fast for a beginner.
These are cool but yea no way I can do that😂😂
How much did u spend
I'd say about $25!!
The music is to loud to focus
I have no tools and no hope to see u again and again and again !!!😔😩😟😢
Very talented young lady, but not enough details on the project!
thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to be more thorough :)
you mean you need the 1x3 cut at 45 degrees on both ends not either ..either would be one or the other =] great video
lol whateverrrrrr :P yes, BOTH ends, not either! either would not work lol
@@TimberTea=p I made 3 myself and thank youu for sharing your idea !! ;)
I like the content, but the audio is bad (too much echo on the voice, music too loud)
ohhhh I know! I'm working on it :P
I really like the Woodglut plans.
These measurements don’t make sense to me. If you are using 1” wide boards for the top and bottom and a 2” board for the spacer, wouldn’t the facing board need to be 4” wide? Not 3? SO confused!!! step by step plans would be helpful!!!!
is your husband the hockey youtuber known as Coach Jeremy?
lol it's his brother!
The sound is terrible trying to hear your voice over the music is extremely hard
