This is the Zurvanic version of the myth which may actually be influenced by Christianity instead of the other way around. The original Zoroastrian version of the Angra Mainyu is lost to us but was probably less of a Satan figure and more like a Hindu god of darkness.

I would be interested in a lecture on the Norman Conquest, as well as the political situation in England at that time, as I'm aware that the king died childless, but my understanding was that he had a (underage) nephew as his designated heir, so I don't quite understand what made England so particularly unstable, as to have two external wars of succession, including the Norwegian attempted conquest, compared to a typically more internal instability of a regency period.
The Norman conquest has a religious slant as the papacy supported William's claim to the throne and gave moral support to the conquest -and I think there is also a link to the reform of the church which was being spearheaded at the time by pope Gregory VII

It refers to Revelations second death we are to fear. Your translation says the trees were in the "midst" . The text says " the dead centre" In this way we miss the idea that one tree is inside of the other as there is only one dead centre. You are leading people well astray from the truth.

It is interesting to compare the Vita story to that in the Quran. In Islam, God created three species with different DNA, Adam from the earth (he wasn't created in the image of God for - Allah, there is nothing like Him-, Jinn from fire, and angels from light. Iblis was a jinn and he refused to bow to Adam and was cast out of heaven. Adam and his mate (the name Eve is never mentioned) were put in a garden and not paradise. Adam takes all the blame and there is no mention of his mate being a bad person. God punished him by taking away his privileges although He forgave him. In another podcast (from John Hammer also) it was suggested that when the Nicaean creed became the official faith in Christianity, many sects who believed otherwise were persecuted and fled. One of those were the Ebionites who Hammer believes thought sanctuary in Arabia. They believed that Jesus was a mere prophet. Hammer suggests that Khadija's family (the prophet's wife) were Ebionites and most of the beliefs about Moses and Jesus came from them. You can find information about the Ebionites but can't find anything about Khadija's family beliefs. It is all a matter of faith Afterall.

wow, when you think that this story was told and written by men, hubris seems to be their chief characteristic. all the blame, the self-pity, self-justification, envy - it explains is why us humans haven't managed to do very well. when our first story is so arrogant, it's no wonder we're such eff-ups.
