Yo about that Bentley transmission its listed as a Turbo 400. The 4 speed in later models is listed as a 4L80e. If they have the standard Chevrolet bellhousing and spline on the output shaft your options are basically unlimited at chevy prices. Even if you wanted to go with the electronically controlled version a standalone OEM controller for like 200 bucks.
Transmission swap auto to auto is relatively easy with a GM product and you can probably find a hot rod shop. Both of those transmissions came in Chevy 3/4 ton trucks behind deteoit diesels, 350s, and 454s.
Also gear vendors makes a standalone overdrive unit that bolts up to the tail shaft with minimal modifications.
All these mods are very affordable (Less than 3k in parts for a brand new transmission).
Zack has balls of brass to fly that thing around. Looks straight out of the future though!

My friend once let a girl borrow his car. She was in a hit and run while intoxicated. Stopped long enough to talk to the people she hit. Then as they were getting their info she took off. Brought the car back in time for my friend to go on his first date with a new girl. He was so late he didn't notice the damage. After he picks up his date he gets pulled over and arrested. Spent the weekend in jail before he could clear everything up.

Subaru corporate has no idea how to compete in the North American market. Subaru America basically had to beg for the wilderness trims to be put into production. I’ve been saying for years a WRX Crosstrek would sell like hotcakes.
It’s Toyota mismanagement. Subaru is being given no budget, no autonomy, no support and hand me down parts.

They don't compete well in the enthusiast sub-segment, but have very strong, consistent performance in the US overall with Crosstrek, Outback, and Forester.
It's very likely they intentionally deprioritized the enthusiast market to focus capital on bigger segments. Partnerships like 86/BRZ allow them to compete some with less investment needed.

Electric VTOL with 25mi range, 200lbs weight limit, for "EMT in remote area" = "Stretch". EMT has to be "slim", and would be limited to carrying an Epi-pen, and some band aids. Not to mention its a no go in a high wind/storm situation.
I would have thought a drone pilot operated one sending in 120kg of equipment would be a better use case? It's a one way ride and won't fit in a Pick up either. So it's a very niche use.
This is like the jet pack kits. It's great if the Doctor at a Mountain rescue learns to use it. But only that person can use it. A chopper can take multiple people who don't have to learn to fly. You can also use any chopper to get staff on site and people off on the return.

Yes, a Crosstrek with WRX innards and manual would be the ticket for Subaru. Not for the sporting aspect per se, but rather the ground clearance. Dirt roads get covered with snow and turn to mud, so yes, need the AWD!
An ELECTRIC Crosstrek with 300hp, 300lbs/tq and 290 miles range would absolutely dominate. It would have 2 years of preorders deep here in the northwest. Toyota has been mismanaging Subaru for over a decade now, and all the horrid errors (CVT???) and lack of horsepower bumps and shitbox cladding etc. are all Toyota’s fault. Money left on the table.
Most of the buyers don’t want a manual. Car enthusiasts always think their opinions hold weight but in reality they make up a tiny sliver of car sales for normal cars

Look up the recent "Will it Rally?" from Team O'Neil. The way even the regular WRX responds to subtle weight transfer (on stock AS tires) and eager to rotate under braking is impressive! Will was left foot braking everything. In that loose surface environment, the WRX looked at home and thats where the fun-factor comes to play. Subaru should have revealed the car to Journalists at Team ONeil or Dirtfish. I live somewhere that sees snow 5+ months a year. When every sports car can go from 0-Jail in 7 seconds now, the most fun Ive had on actual roads have been on fresh snow days.
As someone who is saving up for a WRX the TR doesn't really move the needle for me. I'm just going to get the premium, which is the second cheapest option. I plan on doing lifting spring, ATRs, and some light power mods to make a broke boy Dakar Porsche. There is a conspiracy in the WRX forums that the detuned the engine because of the CVT transmission. Intake and a tune gets you somewhere in the neighborhood of +50 HP and +80 Torque but if you do it on the CVT it breaks almost instantly. People report getting the car up in the 500 hp area and the only real issue is having to put a performance clutch. It feels like Subaru screwed up the car because they refused to either make it manual only or to get a stronger traditional automatic from someone else.

The 4 speed turbo r transmission is a 4l80-e gm transmission. Extremely cheap and strong and very common in the turbo ls community

Imagine a manual Crosstrek WRX with the non-recaro / comfortable seats! I like the cladding on cars cause it protects the lower and bumper paint from bumper chips and any light obstacles from driving in winter-like or super light off-roading conditions such as some non-maintained roads, and I think good quality cladding looks kinda cool

I ended up getting a WRX premium for invoice, I couldn’t get a GR Corolla (longg waitlist) even if the back seats were usable. Needed AWD, back seats for kids, and really wanted manual. Not a ton of options out there. I’m enjoying the WRX for all the factors above, fun in the canyons!

Have you thought about using a gear vendors overdrive on the Bentley. That way you would be able to retain the original transmission and just change the tailshaft housing and get a new driveshaft
I had a “friend” who was going through some stuff. Borrow a car to go to and from work while also living in my house for free, get in an accident with another driver. Found out 3 months later from my insurance company.

DLC isn't a cerakote. Cerakote is a much cheaper, easier to apply, and nowhere near as wear resistant type of coating. DLC is more involved and much stronger, smoother, and nicer overall. It's one of the nicest of all coatings used in machining.

As a C55 Owner..I do no think it will appreciate unless it's a wagon like mine honestly... It'll be the "underrated purchase" for a long time as the sedan tbh
Great conversation about the Helix. It's a toy/hobby for people that can afford it. I fly ultralights which cost $10,000 or less, safer, easier and the same restrictions as this. Heck my powered paraglider is already flying a parachute. If the motor fails I can land. If I had $200K laying around and tons of extra time to learn how to fly it, maintain it etc I would. It's cheaper, faster (time to learn, maintain, etc) to fly ultralights for the same experience. Hell you can buy multiple types of ultralights instead of just one of these. The flight time is also a joke for this. What's your ROI on fun time? 20 mins a flight? 2 flights in a day? How many days a year can you fly it? Divide 200K by that? Awful ROI on my fun dollars😃
The advantage of a wrx over basically anything else is rwd based architecture, so you don't overheat your center diff when you want to drift on snow or gravel. The TR seems like a bad buy, but a regular wrx with the right mods is gonna be pretty perfect...if you ignore the infotainment.
Maserati can’t compete with the price of their own used cars that get turned back in after 6 months. I went to a dealer to see a used car they had on the lot and they had a sedan selling new for $68k and right next to it a lightly used version for $34k. I just can’t believe they were so stupid to do that, the takeaway is that the car’s a depreciation nightmare and only absolute suckers buy them for sticker

No, I actually hope Subaru does abandon their sports car division. They just can’t do it right. At least not on a commercial level. At 80k miles I was on my third engine, second turbo, second transmission and then at 90k it needed a new center differential. After spending $2300 on said diff. It still made a funny noise coming from underneath. So I took it right back and they sent me an invoice for a $5300 clutch replacement!!!! I just had that replaced at 78k when the thrust bearing destroyed my transmission!!! And why did they not say something about the “clutch” when the f-ing transmission was apart during that differential replacement?!?! It would have been a lot cheaper for the labor and we can’t have that right?! Oh and we don’t want to tell that it’s not the clutch but it’s our shitty thrust bearing that fails as early as 10k miles old. They told me it’s normal for clutches to go out @20k Which leads me to one more question. Why didn’t they call us before they switched out the short block @80k? Because it was under warranty. They just told us that it was ready for pick up. G thanks guys. I’m guessing you didn’t change my old timing belt while you were in there huh? Of course they didn’t. That’s a $2000 job you have to do in 20,000 miles. We need that extra money off ya!! It’s sad because I was waiting for them to call me like they did the first time so that I could tell them to change it and the water pump. My 2014 Subaru WRX was built very cheap unlike my new/used 2016 VW Gti that I bought a month ago. I’m so much happier now. It has a 4yr warranty. Oh and I got $8600 for my 14’ WRX even though I paid $24k for it @20k miles. Shitty car and shitty dealership. SHITTY EXPERIENCE!!!

I got my friends car towed once after he let me use it to go get food and when I lived with him for a week when my car was down and I had almost no money, and I still paid to get his car out of the impound lot. Had to sell some stuff that I didnt want too, but there was no way I was going to be a dick and leave my friend out to dry.
I had nearly 0 money and still paid the 300 dollars to get his car back because of my stupid ass. I did learn to never park his car in the wrong spot again at his condo lol. Too not cover for your fuck up with a friends personal property is a serious bitch move.
